Those three elements are divide and rule, colonial education, and British laws. The British took some reformative initiatives that ostensibly deserve appreciation such as the development of a predictable legal system, investment in infrastructure development, and education in the late nineteenth and mid-twentieth centuries. However, most colonial policies and reforms were against the will and welfare of the people of India. The British took away India’s resources and introduced the English educational system to create an educated and elite buffer class for its own interests. It also introduced positivistic and predictable laws and repressive and discriminatory measures, including force, to control the natives and prevent anti-British agitation, protests, and armed uprisings in India. Although the consequences of British col...

Zdecydowanie najniższa ocena dotyczyła oferty kulturalnej i rozrywkowej w centrach dzielnic. Jedynie poczucie bezpieczeństwa w centrum miasta uzyskało niższą ocenę niż w centrach dzielnic. Słowa kluczowe: centrum miasta, centrum dzielnicy, dzielnica administracyjna, Kraków.

This project aims to give more autonomy to the elderly people in Colombia offering a comfortable and safe transportation that gives confidence not only to them but also their families. By this system the elderly can be transported and do what they need to do more independently. The main competitive advantage is the combination of transportation and the specialized assistance. The idea was born from the observation of population trends in this country and the world, including: the reduction in the number of children per family; the increase in the life span and the projected population growth of old people. The project was based on the observation of an unmet need in modern society and from this sprang a research process that included a series of primary and secondary investigations, the creating of a business model, a technical operational study, an investigation into the legal aspects and the study of the financial projections. Finally conclusions were drawn and recommendations made. During the development of the business plan, specifically in the valuation of the company, positive results were found, in both the moderate and optimistic scenarios, since it was shown that the payback period of the investment is in the fourth and in the third year respectively. These results showed that financially the project is a unique business opportunity and it is also a project of great interest and social impact.

However, the scales at which models can be developed, and the subsequent problems they can inform, are often limited by our inability or challenges to effectively understand data that mimic interactions at the finest spatial, temporal, or organizational resolutions. Linear regression analysis is the one of the widely used methods for investigating such relationship between variables. Multicollinearity is one of the major problem in regression analysis. Multicollinearity can be reduced by using the appropriate regularized regression methods. This study aims to measure the robustness of regularized regression models such as ridge and Lasso type models designed for the high dimensional data having the multicollinearity problems. Empir...

Data from the Demographic and Health Survey Bangladesh were used to evaluate the influences of several significant socioeconomic, demographic, health system and community factors on the current status of malnutrition among 5333 under-5 years children. Results reveal that older age, smaller birth size and maternal poor nutritional status were most significant factors for high prevalence of malnutrition which was assessed using three standard anthropometric indicators, such as underweight, stunting and wasting each of two kinds severe and moderate, following the WHO guidelines and cut-off points. The variables that were associated with severe as well as moderate underweight and stunting were father’s poor education, household lower economic condition and division of residence. Mother’s poor education and increased age of household ...

In this paper an attempt is made to estimate the elasticity of substitution^) for the manufacturing sector of Bangladesh and compare them with those of other countries. While estimating the elasticity of substitution we shall compare the results obtained by different models which will provide a test of sensitivity of those estimates to the underlying assumptions of the models.

Empir...
