The synthesis and characterization din -butyl-and dimethyltin D-(+)-camphorates, respectively com... more The synthesis and characterization din -butyl-and dimethyltin D-(+)-camphorates, respectively compounds 1 and 2, are reported. Compound 1 displays antitumoural activity in vitro, and is more active than cisplatin, 5-fluorouracil and etoposide against seven tumoural cell lines of human origin, but less active than methotrexate and doxorubucin. Several diorganotin derivatives of dicarboxylic acids are active in vitro against human tumoural cell lines1-6. Nevertheless, diorganotin derivatives of dicarboxylic acids with proven antitumour activity in vitro remain rather rare. The present paper reports the synthesis and characterization of two novel

Thallium L III-edge x-ray absorption and iron-57 and tin-119 Mössbauer spectral measurements have... more Thallium L III-edge x-ray absorption and iron-57 and tin-119 Mössbauer spectral measurements have been carried out to probe the electronic structure of the three sites in the filled skutterudite Tl x Co 4Ϫy Fe y Sb 12 and Tl x Co 4 Sb 12Ϫz Sn z compounds with a range of x, y, and z values. The thallium L III-edge x-ray absorption spectra are independent of x, y, and z and are well reproduced by full multiple scattering calculations with a cluster with a radius of 8.5 Å centered on thallium. The iron-57 Mössbauer spectra consist of two doublets and the major component is assigned to iron on the cobalt sublattice in view of its hyperfine parameters. The origin of the minor component is uncertain and is tentatively assigned to either iron with thallium vacancies as next nearest neighbors or to iron in the voids. The tin-119 Mössbauer spectral hyperfine parameters clearly indicate that tin substitutes for antimony in the skutterudite structure. Further, the tin electronic configuration is very similar to that of antimony and is insensitive to the thallium content.

I1 apparait qu'une irradiation interne consecutive ti la transition isomdrique de 1 lgmSn se montre beaucoup plus efficace qu'une irradiation externe au cobalt 60. L'action protectrice des cycles conjuguds se fait toutefois sentir m8me ? i travers le fragment aliphatique qui les lie au noyau central. Le r61e de I'oxygene lors de l'irradiation est aussi discutb.

The synthesis of diorganotin(IV) derivatives of thiosalicylic acid, of 3-aza-2-thiosalicylic acid... more The synthesis of diorganotin(IV) derivatives of thiosalicylic acid, of 3-aza-2-thiosalicylic acid, and of several related compounds is reported. Their characterization by 1H, 13C, and 119Sn NMR, Mössbauer, and mass spectrometry is described. The in vitro antitumor activity of selected derivatives against two human tumoral cell lines is discussed.
