Data were collected from 66 head teachers and 462 teachers from Murang’a county, Kenya, using questionnaires and an observation guide. Multiple regression was used to analyse the data and results indicated that though head teachers and teachers’ attitudes towards inclusive education and knowledge of inclusive education predicted effective implementation of inclusive education, head teachers’ attitudes had the greatest predictive strength. Practical implications of these findings are contextually discussed

This study was undertaken to investigate virtues and character strength, more specifically, self-... more This study was undertaken to investigate virtues and character strength, more specifically, self-regulation and purpose in life and their relationship, to better understand the importance of virtues and character strengths in relation to mental health, psychological well-being and satisfaction with life. Positive psychologists approach posits that virtues and character strengths are the bedrock of flourishing individuals and optimally functioning institutions and society. The scales used were standardised Self-Control Scale (SCS) and Purpose in Life test (PIL). The sample size of the study was N= 279 and the population was Catholic consecrated men in Initial Formation. The location of the study was the Archdiocese of Nairobi-Kenya. The data analyses included descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings showed that, 95% of Catholic consecrated men in Initial Formation had high levels of self-regulation and 97.1% had good degree of purpose in life. The Pearson's correlation indicated a positive correlation between self-regulation and purpose in life (r= .276, p ˂ .000, N= 279). The study showed that the character strengths of self-regulation and purpose in life are ingrained aspects that contribute to mental wellbeing and life satisfaction.

Parental active involvement in the education of their children is widely assumed to be critical f... more Parental active involvement in the education of their children is widely assumed to be critical for successful educational outcomes. Based on Epstein‟s overlapping spheres of influence theory, this paper explores the perceived challenges and opportunities of this collaboration from the perspectives of Kenyan parents with children in the early years of schooling. The cross sectional survey design was used involving 335 parents from two selected counties in Kenya – one rural and the other urban. The participants responded to a questionnaire that sought to establish the barriers parents encountered as they partnered with schools as well as the strategies, they envisaged would enhance effective parental engagement for healthy academic, emotional and social development of their children. Results indicated that parents acknowledged the importance of homeschool collaboration.
