The use of preimplantation diagnosis for sex determination and detection of exon deletion means t... more The use of preimplantation diagnosis for sex determination and detection of exon deletion means that unaffected babies can be born to parents suffering from Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). However, those who do not have exon deletion should also be considered for further investigation. A new method, known as linkage analysis, has been developed to diagnose the presence of non-deletion DMD in preimplantation embryos. Linkage analysis uses informative intragenic and flanking markers to track the chromosome bearing the mutated gene. The present study reports the analysis of two polymorphic sites, in blastomeres biopsied from embryos from a female carrier of DMD. A single male embryo was obtained who had inherited alternate maternal alleles to the woman's affected surviving son, and this embryo was transferred.
The reactions of CHâ/sup +/, CHâ/sup +/, and CH/sup +/ with acetylene to produce Câ ionic product... more The reactions of CHâ/sup +/, CHâ/sup +/, and CH/sup +/ with acetylene to produce Câ ionic products were investigated by measuring the angular distributions of ion product velocities, reaction cross sections, and deuterium isotope distributions. The reactions appear to be proceeding by two different mechanisms. The lifetimes of the intermediate complexes as judged from the deuterium distributions are significantly smaller than the rotational periods of the systems. Measurements of the energies of the ionic reactants and products show that a large amount of internal energy can be present in the CâHâ/sup +/ ion.

Hipertensi dikategorikan ringan apabila tekanan diastoliknya antara 95 -104 mmHg, hipertensi sedang jika tekanan diastoliknya antara 105 dan 114 mmHg, dan hipertensi berat bila tekanan diastoliknya 115 mmHg atau lebih. Pembagian ini berdasarkan peningkatan tekanan diastolic karena dianggap lebih serius dari peningkatan sistolik ( Smith Tom, 1995 ).
