This article presents possibilities for supporting academic writing in German as a foreign langua... more This article presents possibilities for supporting academic writing in German as a foreign language by Italian students in bachelor's degree of German Studies. To this end, a didactical proposal is submitted, which has been tested in my own teaching practice and which combines process-related approaches with concepts of model learning, basing on the specific of scientific action by focusing on language in texts and is closely linked to the teaching of subject content. This means that the introduction to scientific writing in the foreign language German is embedded in the subject and subject-specific learning, reading and writing are interwoven. On the basis of the reception and analysis of authentic subject-related texts by experts from German Studies, the learners induce certain phenomena typical of scientific writing through active work on authentic text examples and develop a gradual awareness of the appropriate use of the foreign scientific language and its text-forming means.

Davon ausgehend wird insbesondere der Frage nachgegangen, ob und in welcher Weise sich solche Strategien in journalistischen Artikeln f\ufcr junge Leser im Alter zwischen sechs und 14 Jahren aus dem deutschsprachigen und dem italienischsprachigen Raum unterscheiden

– This article presents possibilities for supporting textual competence in German as a foreign la... more – This article presents possibilities for supporting textual competence in German as a foreign language, using the wiki-based platform Wikispaces, for Italian school and university-level learners of German who are confronted with writing tasks. The focus will be on the potential of writing-based learning arrangements in which the learners engage in collaborative writing activities in situational contexts. The aim and addressee of the required text are clearly recognisable and learners are able to reflect collectively and by themselves on the effects of their texts. Building on their existing competencies, they can also gain the necessary knowledge to complete the respective writing tasks. This makes it possible to take account of process, product and action orientation at the same time by focusing on the different phases of the writing process and on the functional and linguistic features of texts during the completion of the writing tasks.
