Increased consumption of bottled water has a negative impact on the environment due to plastic wa... more Increased consumption of bottled water has a negative impact on the environment due to plastic waste. This study intends to assess the perceptions of Indonesian students toward tap water. This cross-sectional survey was conducted online using an online questionnaire. From 1,034 undergraduate students, our findings revealed that Indonesian students had a relatively low rate of bottled water consumption. Employing the framework of the theory of planned behavior, all factors were recognized as significant factors driving tap water consumption. Students who reported drinking two or fewer bottles of water per week perceive that tap water is safe and clean for consumption is practical, and has almost the same color, taste, and smell as bottled water. Students concede that consuming tap water is a habit and consider this action necessary to preserve the environment. This study aimed at explaining the capacity of pre-service teachers in designing teaching activit... more This study aimed at explaining the capacity of pre-service teachers in designing teaching activities to foster Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). The research participants were 35 pre-service teachers attending Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Teacher Education department at a state university in Malang. The research method was descriptive quantitative. The assessment was conducted by reviewing lesson plans designed by the pre-service teachers. Rubric within Shulman's framework was used for assessing the lesson plans by considering some key aspects of teaching to foster HOTS, namely content knowledge, the use of questions, and problem-solving. The results have revealed that the pre-service teachers did not show a good ability to interpret contents. Besides, the pre-service teachers tended to use clarifying questions in learning. This study used experimental methods with Randomized Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The stage of the study was the preparation, the implementation, and the final stage. The subject of study was twelve students of Surabaya Pharmacy School from first, second, and third grades taken at random through the student truancy scale and divided into two groups, control and experiment group. The intervention is done by doing the counseling group with cognitive restructuring technique to reduce the student’s truancy behavior. The Data was analyzed using SPSS Paired Sampled T-Test. The analysis result showed that there was a significant difference before and after the intervention using cognitive restructuring in the experiment group. Learning a language usually starts by learning the vocabulary. Since new words are created over t... more Learning a language usually starts by learning the vocabulary. Since new words are created over time, language learners also need to know how words are created. One of the ways to create new words is by knowing derivational affixes. This present study tries to seek the distribution of English derivational affixes through two corpora and set up the new level of affixes which can be used in enriching student’s vocabulary since learning affixes can improve student’s vocabulary exponentially. In conducting this study, the writer sorts the affixes found in the top 5000 word list of COCA (general) and the top 3000 word list of COCA academic. From the data, it found 217 prefixed words and 958 suffixed words in general corpus. Whereas in academic corpus, it found 545 prefixed words and 1252 suffixed words. Then, those affixed words are classified into each group of affixes based on Cambridge Grammar of English (Carter & McCarthy, 2006) and Stockwell & Minkova (2001). Thus, qualitative metho...
