Through analyzing the teacher-student relations and the intertextual interaction between their works, Özdinç argues that Ottoman ulama have been heavily influenced by the Transoxanian philosophical kalam tradition, i.e. application of logic to kalam, which was evident in the selection of the works taught and annotations,

Noting the increase in the number of Turkish to Persian translations since 1979, Başar discusses the nature and the scope of Persian to Turkish translation activities with respect to several aspects of translation such as selection of works, translators, and the quality of translation. He argues that while in the classical period, Iran influenced Turkey both in literature and culture, the roles might have reversed between Iran and Turkey with the period of modernization.

The past and present fates of the neighboring peoples of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbek... more The past and present fates of the neighboring peoples of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Iran and Turkey have been inextricably intertwined. The cultural interaction between them has many dimensions throughout history ranging from science, religion, philosophy and literature to music, architecture, material culture and urban life. The region was once –and still has the potential for becoming– as closely integrated as Europe. From several aspects ranging from trade and transportation to art and science, the region was once the global heartland, supplying the rest of the world with not only goods and materials, but also knowledge, inspiration, and hope. The present collection of papers attests to this proposition.

She discusses the history of the exhibition and the contribution of individual organizers and collectors to the formation of the collections of the Museum of the Oriental Peoples, particularly the section which presents objects from Iran and Turkey, the Caucasus and Turkestan, and other Muslim regions. The author not only traces the histories of these objects but also provides several copyrighted images of the exhibition catalogue, brochures, pavilions and the individual items.

The present report provides a summary of the outcomes from the two-day “Workshop on Challenges an... more The present report provides a summary of the outcomes from the two-day “Workshop on Challenges and Solutions in Biology Education at Secondary and Undergraduate Levels in Türkiye.” The workshop was organized by the Economic Cooperation Organization Educational Institute (ECOEI) and took place on 23-24 February 2023 in Ankara. The reporting team responsible for documenting the workshop’s insights and recommendations was led by Prof. Dr. Semra Mirici from Gazi University, Gazi Faculty of Education, who also pioneered the framework of the workshop and meticulously curated its sessions. The reporting team included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duygu Sönmez from Hacettepe University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Alev Özel and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nurcan Uzel, both from Gazi University.

The research team responsible for documenting the workshop’s insights and recommendations was led by Prof. Dr. Ahmet İlhan Şen from Hacettepe University. The team also included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özlem Oktay from Atatürk University, Assoc. The present study aimed at determining the intercorrelations among physical, mental, emotional, s... more The present study aimed at determining the intercorrelations among physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social and self-consciousness. The study was conducted on 135 students pursuing teacher education programme. 'Consciousness Quotient Inventory' developed by Brazdau (2011) was used to collect the required data. SPSS 16.0 was used to analyze bivariate correlation between the selected variables. The findings reveal that there exists significant correlation between most of the dimensions of consciousness with the exception of physical and mental, physical and self, physical and spiritual, emotional and spiritual consciousness. The inter-correlation between these pairs is insignificant. The strongest correlation was found between self and spiritual consciousness. The inter-correlations between none of the dimensions are negative.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak that started in China in December 2019 has shortly spread to ... more The coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak that started in China in December 2019 has shortly spread to the whole world and on 11 March 2019 declared by World Health Organization as a pandemic. The crisis prompted countries to lockdown their borders, quarantine people, implement travel restrictions and economic measures, and shut down schools. The pandemic’s effect could be felt on almost all aspects of social and economic life, including education. The coronavirus has affected the education system globally when most governments have temporarily shut down their educational institutions. According to UNESCO, 91 percent of the students (1.5 billion) in the world are affected by the disruption of their education system. As of 1 May 2020, 191 countries have closed their schools around the world due to the pandemic. Most ECO member states have also implemented localized or nationwide temporary closing of schools.
