Emily Westwell

I am a third year Politics and International Relations Student at Royal Holloway University of London.

The papers that I have uploaded below are those which I wrote whilst studying for my undergraduate degree.

My research areas throughout my degree have varied and I am focusing in my final year on:

Comparative Democracy and Elections
Contemporary Middle Eastern Politics
War and its Aftermath
Young Peoples Politics

Independent Dissertation: A critical analysis of the impact of foreign financial investment in sub-Saharan Africa, asking whether it is a threat to the process of democratisation in the region. This analysis has given particular attention to Chinese foreign direct investment and fiscal aid, hoping to offer further insight into the broader issue of how financial influence may hinder efforts of sustained development.
