The case usability test was conducted as part of a redesign project that aimed to update the existing home page of Indiana University Bloomington. The home page contained links to the Web sites that various institutions in the university had already created, and therefore, it functioned as a portal to various Web sites and. employed hierarchical menu structure. The findings relate to the generation of design ideas. Through the usability test, it was founding that users have a somewhat unified viewpoint regarding the menus on the side areas of a Web page. They tend to view them as a "quick" way to access "specific" and "frequently searched" information. The analysis issues are concerned with analyzing task completion rate, time taken, and path taken to finish the tasks. When analyzing these measures, the researcher needs to consider nature of the Web site, portal site in this case usability test, rather than simply looking at whether and how the test participation found the answer. The primary objective of our project is to develop ontology-based e-learning support system which allows learners to build adaptive learning paths through understanding curriculum, syllabuses, and subjects of courses deeply. In this paper, we introduce our ontology model and propose an effective method for enhancing learning effect of students through construction of subject ontology. The subject ontology of a certain course is composed of an ontology made by a teacher and many ontologies made by students. It is used in discussion, visual presentation, and knowledge sharing between instructor and students. We used the subject ontology in two lectures in practice and found that the subject ontology enhances learning effect of students in according to the analysis of ...

Students’ transcription of online discussion was analyzed using a mixed methods approach, combining computer-mediated discourse analysis and Chi-square test analysis. The data revealed that the online discussion helped pre-service teachers not only deepen their learning of mathematics methods, but also demonstrated their abilities to teach mathematics in different ways. It also indicated that the depth of their learning depended on the levels of threads and topics of discussion. Deep learning occurs 1) more often in the first level thread than subsequent level threads, and 2) in discussion topics, primarily those related to practice-based issues rather than theory-based topics.

This research, especially explored (a) participants' motivation of their teaching career choice, (b) their motivation to become a teacher in the USA, (c) challenges they faced in the USA, (d) how they overcame the obstacles they faced, and (e) suggestions for USA teachers who are teaching Latino children. The data was collected using open-ended questions and were analyzed using content analysis. Findings provide evidence that the immigrant teachers utilized a combination of resilient factors and social concerns to reach their professional goals.

In order to effectively support students' learning, it is important to comprehend students' experiences using eTextbooks. This survey study was designed to gain an understanding of students' experiences in using eTextbooks and variables that impact their experiences, perceptions, and attitudes towards eTextbooks. In a total of 33 courses, faculty members at five state university campuses in California participated in the eTextbook pilot project during the fall of 2010. Six hundred and sixty-two student questionnaires were returned from those courses. Key findings include: 1) More than one-third of the students were satisfied with the eTextbook; 2) more than half of the students felt that the eTextbook was easy-to-use; 3) older students (22 or older) tended to have more positive experiences with the eTextbook than younger students; and 4) students most liked the eTextbook's cost, accessibility, light weight, and keyword search features. This study implies that the eTextbook must be a high-quality, easy-to-use resource to serve as a viable textbook option for student learning.
