THE ISSUE OF SOCIAL JUSTICE IN EDUCATIONAL PRACTICES AND THE ROLE OF TEACHERS IN TODAY’S SCHOOL: A STUDY OF TEACHERS’ DISCOURSE FACED WITH THE CHALLENGE OF MIGRATING, 2021

This paper is mainly exploring primary school teachers’ discourse about immigrant children inclus... more This paper is mainly exploring primary school teachers’ discourse about immigrant children inclusion in Greek schools. More specifically it focuses on how teachers construct their discourse while talking about refugee and immigrant students expressing their view regarding the issue of social justice in educational practice. Social justice is a precondition for inclusive education. Within the framework of the application of social justice in the school system, teachers need to be interculturally sensitized, to know themselves and to be open to difference and change and to act as agents of inclusion and social justice. Teachers who composed the research sample, while referring to social justice, express the principles of equality, equal educational opportunity, access to educational necessities, respect of different cultural provenance, empathy and collaboration with parents. Twenty-five interviews were conducted and have been initially analyzed using Critical Discourse Analysis techniques.

The main objective of this study was to examine the effects of trade on manufacturing employment ... more The main objective of this study was to examine the effects of trade on manufacturing employment in Tanzania. Secondary data used were obtained from different government agencies for a period of 2000-2012. Both qualitative and quantitative approaches were used to analyse the data. The OLS multiple regression model was used to monitor variable behaviors. The results suggested that estimated coefficient of variables Trade (TRADt), Manufacturing (MANt), Imports (MPIt) and Capital (KTLt) was positive and significant at the 1% and 5% respectively. While the coefficients of Employment and Exports (XMIt) were negative and not significant. The study concluded that a negative association existed between trade and exports intensity and employment level in the manufacturing industries. That is higher imports intensity leads to a decrease in employment level in manufacturing. It would be perhaps good to reduce import by increasing exports to accelerate the level of employment in the manufacturing sector. Exports show a significant negative effect on Tanzania's manufacturing employment during the study period.

The aim of this paper is to describe and interpret the main objectives of the educational policy ... more The aim of this paper is to describe and interpret the main objectives of the educational policy of the central elites of the Liberals in the region of Greek Macedonia during the period 1915–1924 concerning the process of assimilation and especially the cultural assimilation, the structural integration and the psychological identification of the so-called xenophone or allophone population. We investigate the Glinos Foundation Archive using CDA techniques in combination with the historical interpretative method. Αn assimilation process with mild practices took place, while the achievement of national homogenization through literacy via the demotic Greek language teaching was considered as the main goal. This paper presents an analysis of preschool children's drawings using the methodological tool of... more This paper presents an analysis of preschool children's drawings using the methodological tool of the grammar of visual design, by Gunther Kress and Theo Van Leeuwen, in order to investigate the presence of a stereotypical representation of the "Other", or lack thereof. The construction of "Childhood" as a social category is briefly mentioned and then the evolution of children's drawings is presented. The basic principles of the grammar of visual design are documented, in the way they were evaluated during the analysis of the children's drawings. Finally, the analysis of these drawings is presented and some final comments on the representation of otherness are made. According to those results, negative stereotypes are not constructed through children's designs.

In this study we investigate students' concepts of their professional identity as it is construct... more In this study we investigate students' concepts of their professional identity as it is constructed in their teaching practice portfolios. Teaching practice, divided in phasesaims among others to integrate student teachers into daily work and life of school, as they -at the last phaseteach in school classes for two weeks. After completing their two weeks teaching, studentshand in their portfolios, including their everyday lessons, their everyday selfassessment, the analysis of a critical incident, their experience about teaching practice and their remarks about the whole teaching practice program. The data of the present study is selected by the above-mentioned portfolios, while our sample consisted of 50 of them. The main purpose of the research is to explore the ways in which students shape their professional identity as teachers through their written discourse at their portfolios. The interpretation of their discourse is related to their personal theory of teaching, i.e their beliefs about school and teaching according to which teacher gradually shapes his / her identity, perceives educational situations and manages his / her choices in dilemmatic or critical situations.Findings indicated that the majority of students teachers perceive the pedagogical aspect of their professional role as the most important one. the concept of subjectivity is always involved in the formulation of social identity and professional identity is a notion of every social identity. In the present research, we adopt the viewpoint of social construction of the subject and identity, and more specifically, their social construction through discourse. The above-mentioned function of discourse, and the construction of subjectivity, constitutes a major issue within theories of cultural re-production, but also within the constructivist approaches. Subjects are dynamic and are always positioned in relation to specific discourses and practices which are formed in the context of social circumstances and social institutions. Social contexts and discourses form specific social positions that individuals occupy. This, however, doesn't mean that the individual is a pathetic one but she or he takes part in their formation, and in their production or re-production. Η εισήγηση αποτελεί μέρος πτυχιακής έρευνας που εκπονήθηκε στο πλαίσιο του προγράμματος ΕΠΠΑΙΚ τη... more Η εισήγηση αποτελεί μέρος πτυχιακής έρευνας που εκπονήθηκε στο πλαίσιο του προγράμματος ΕΠΠΑΙΚ της ΑΣΠΑΙΤΕ. Η έρευνα πραγματοποιήθηκε στον χώρο της ΜΚΟ ΑΡΣΙΣ στην Αιανή Κοζάνης και συγκεκριμένα στη Δομή Φιλοξενίας Ασυνόδευτων Ανηλίκων Προσφύγων Αιανής. Η έρευνα αποτελεί μελέτη περίπτωσης. Παρουσιάζονται οι δράσεις που εκπονούνται στον συγκεκριμένο ξενώνα φιλοξενίας για την ένταξη των ασυνόδευτων ανηλίκων προσφύγων μέσω των μορφών άτυπης εκπαίδευσης που παρέχει η Δομή. Στόχοι της είναι να καταδειχθεί η αποτελεσματικότητα, η αναγκαιότητα στήριξης αυτών των δομών κυρίως στο δυστοπικό για τους πρόσφυγες παρόν, να καταγραφούν οι απόψεις των εκπαιδευτών στη Δομή για τη λειτουργία του προγράμματος και κυρίως να ακουστούν από τους ίδιους τους ωφελούμενους πρόσφυγες μαθητές οι δυσκολίες αλλά και οι προσδοκίες τους για το μέλλον. Οι συνεντεύξεις ως υλικό της έρευνας αναλύθηκαν με το μεθοδολογικό εργαλείο της ερμηνευτικής φαινομενολογικής ανάλυσης. Καταδεικνύεται, τέλος, η ανάγκη να συνεχιστεί η παροχή τόσο των τυπικών όσο και των άτυπων μορφών εκπαίδευσης στις ευάλωτες ομάδες.

Η κοινωνική δικαιοσύνη αποτελεί βασικό συστατικό στοιχείο και έκφραση της δημοκρατίας, μέσω της ο... more Η κοινωνική δικαιοσύνη αποτελεί βασικό συστατικό στοιχείο και έκφραση της δημοκρατίας, μέσω της οποίας διασφαλίζεται η αξιοπρέπεια και η αυτάρκεια των πολιτών απέναντι σε κάθε μορφή πίεσης και αδικίας και αποτελεί απαραίτητο όρο στην Παιδαγωγική της Ένταξης. Στο πλαίσιο της εφαρμογής της κοινωνικής δικαιοσύνης στο σχολείο, οι εκπαιδευτικοί χρειάζεται να είναι διαπολιτισμικά ευαισθητοποιημένοι, να γνωρίζουν τον εαυτό τους, να είναι ανοιχτοί στην αλλαγή και να κατέχουν ουσιαστική γνώση του εκπαιδευτικού περιεχομένου και της σχολικής ψυχολογίας (Grant & Gillette, 2006). Στο πλαίσιο της παρούσας εισήγησης, θα παρουσιαστούν τα αποτελέσματα μιας πρώτης διερεύνησης των απόψεων εκπαιδευτικών πρωτοβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης σχετικά με τη νοηματοδότηση και την εφαρμογή της κοινωνικής δικαιοσύνης στη διδακτική πράξη. Το ερευνητικό υλικό συγκεντρώθηκε μέσω ημιδομημένων συνεντεύξεων 25 εκπαιδευτικών πρωτοβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης, ο λόγος των οποίων ερμηνεύθηκε με τη χρήση τεχνικών της Κριτικής Ανάλυσης Λόγου. Οι περισσότεροι εκπαιδευτικοί συσχέτισαν την κοινωνική δικαιοσύνη με την αποδοχή της διαφορετικότητας και την ίση μεταχείριση χωρίς διακρίσεις. Σημαντικές ήταν και οι αναφορές στην ανάγκη του αλληλοσεβασμού ανάμεσα στους μαθητές και τον εκπαιδευτικό. Επισημαίνουν, τέλος, ότι η προβολή των διαφορετικών πολιτισμών μέσα στην τάξη μπορεί να βοηθήσει στην ομαλή ένταξη των παιδιών και, κατ’ επέκταση, στην ανάπτυξη της κοινωνικής δικαιοσύνης.

Κεντρικό θέμα στην ακαδημαϊκή συζήτηση τη σχετική με τις μεταναστευτικές ομάδες και την ένταξή το... more Κεντρικό θέμα στην ακαδημαϊκή συζήτηση τη σχετική με τις μεταναστευτικές ομάδες και την ένταξή τους στις «νέες πατρίδες» αποτελεί η εθνική ταυτότητα, πυρήνας του βιβλίου. Οι σύγχρονες προσεγγίσεις για το έθνος και την εθνική ταυτότητα είναι το θεωρητικό υπόβαθρο της έρευνας. Βασικά θέματα είναι οι σύγχρονες διαστάσεις του μεταναστευτικού ζητήματος στην Ελλάδα και η «κατασκευή» του μειονοτικού λόγου. Το ενδιαφέρον της παρούσας μελέτης εστιάζει στη διά του λόγου (discursive) κατασκευή της ταυτότητας των μεταναστών μαθητών και μαθητριών. Η μελέτη των δεδομένων της έρευνας αναδεικνύει τόσο τη «φαντασιακή ταύτιση» των υποκειμένων με την εθνότητα που κάθε φορά επικαλούνται στα γλωσσικά ρεπερτόρια που χρησιμοποιούν για να μιλήσουν για την αντίστοιχη καταγωγή τους όσο και τη διλημματικότητα που εκφράζουν με τον λόγο τους. Οι περισσότεροι μαθητές και οι περισσότερες μαθήτριες, ως δεύτερης γενιάς μετανάστες, προέρχονται συχνά από πολυγλωσσικά και πολυπολιτισμικά περιβάλλοντα και διαπραγματεύονται διαρκώς τις πολλαπλές ταυτότητές τους. Παράγουν νέες φωνές και κατασκευάζουν νέες ταυτότητες μέσω συχνά ανταγωνιστικών λόγων. Στο βιβλίο γίνονται γνωστές οι αφηγήσεις των μεταναστών μαθητών και μαθητριών (εν μέρει και οι ιστορίες τους). Δίνεται, έτσι, «φωνή» στους «άλλους» που συχνά δεν ακούμε. Η Ευμορφία Κηπουροπούλου είναι πτυχιούχος του Τμήματος Φιλοσοφίας και Παιδαγωγικής του Α.Π.Θ., έχει λάβει το μεταπτυχιακό της και τον τίτλο του Διδάκτορα Φιλοσοφίας με ειδίκευση στην Παιδαγωγική και έμφαση στη Διαπολιτισμική Εκπαίδευση από το Τμήμα Φιλοσοφίας και Παιδαγωγικής του Α.Π.Θ. και είναι Μεταδιδάκτωρ Παιδαγωγικής. Το επιστημονικό της έργο έχει δημοσιευθεί σε διεθνή και πανελλήνιας εμβέλειας περιοδικά και έχει ανακοινωθεί σε πανελλήνια και διεθνή συνέδρια. Τα επιστημονικά της ενδιαφέροντα αφορούν τη Διαπολιτισμική Εκπαίδευση, τις ταυτότητες, την Εκπαίδευση Εκπαιδευτικών, τη μετανάστευση και την Ανάλυση Λόγου. Έχει απασχοληθεί ως Επιστημονική Συνεργάτιδα και διδάσκουσα σε πανεπιστημιακά τμήματα. Εργάζεται ως Ειδική Επιστήμων στο Τμήμα Δημοτικής Εκπαίδευσης της Σχολής Κοινωνικών και Ανθρωπιστικών Σπουδών του Πανεπιστημίου Δυτικής Μακεδονίας και στην ΑΣΠΑΙΤΕ.
