The Study Group consisted of 452 participants who were studying at 3 different state universities in Turkey. The Attitude Scale towards Distance Education Applied in the Period of the Outbreak, Academic Self-efficacy Scale, and Academic Life Satisfaction Scale were used as the data collection tools. The data were analyzed by using the SPSS package program. As a result of the analyses, it was found that academic self-efficacy plays a partial mediating role in the relation between the attitude towards distance education and academic life satisfaction. Another important finding of the study was that the mediating effect of academic self-efficacy was moderated by gender in the relation between attitude towards distance education and academic satisfaction. Although the attitude towards distance education in women had a significant impact on self-efficacy belief, it was not the same in men. The findings of the study were discussed in the light of similar studies in the literature.

Research paper thumbnail of Assessing Child - Teacher Relationships

Understanding and documenting how young children negotiate their relationships with their teacher... more Understanding and documenting how young children negotiate their relationships with their teachers is crucial, considering that early teacher–student relationships have important long-term implications for children’s school success (Hamre & Pianta, 2001). However, the existing studies on teacher–child relationships focus primarily on the teacher’s perception of the relationship and have predominantly relied on the STRS, a 28-item teacher self-reported Likert-type (5-point) scale developed to assess a teacher’s feelings about her or his relationship with a particular student, her or his beliefs about the student’s feelings toward the teacher, and a student’s interactive behaviors with the teacher (Pianta, 2001; Saft, 1994). The majority of the evidence about the teacher–student relationship comes from studies conducted in the United States (e.g., Birch & Ladd, 1998; Hamre & Pianta, 2001; Pianta & Nimetz, 1991).Therefore, an examination of the cultural sensitivity of assessment method...

Myalgia/myositis occur with all statins and are more common with higher doses. Rosuvastatin is the most potent statin, and 5 mg daily can lower LDL cholesterol by ∼ 40%. Since Rosuvastatin has the longest half life (19 hours) of any statin, it is possible to use it on an alternate day basis. We have studied the tolerability and efficacy of low dose alternate day Rosuvastatin in patients previously intolerant of statins. Methods: 11 consecutive patients (6 male, 5 female, age 62.3 (11.3) years [mean, (SD)]) attending our Lipid Clinic with primary hypercholesterolaemia and high CVD risk, and who had been unable to tolerate statins were given Rosuvastatin 5 mg every second day. Results: All had normal thyroid function. Baseline serum CPK was 228 (50-2173) U/L [median, (range)] and 6 had a serum CPK > 200 U/L. None had experienced rhabdomyolysis. All had used statins in conventional doses but had discontinued therapy < 3 months, mostly because of myalgia. 7 were able to take Ezetimibe. Total cholesterol was 8.37 (1.02) mmol/L [mean, (SD)] at baseline and 4.41 (1.01) mmol/L on alternate day Rosuvasatin (± Ezetimibe), a 47% reduction. Serum CPK was 164 (109-1532) U/L on Rosuvastatin (± Ezetimibe). Conclusion: All patients tolerated low dose Rosuvastatin without side effects. Low dose alternate day Rosuvastatin is effective and well tolerated in patients previously unable to take statins.

The sample consists of 547 university students (67% female and 33% male) aged between 17 and 23 (X = 22.15, SD = 2.86). Parent-Adolescent Relationship Quality Scale, Fear of Missing Developments Scale, Problematic Internet Use Scale, and Personal Information Form were used to collect the study data. Research hypotheses were tested using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results of the analysis supported the research hypothesis and showed that the fear of missing out developments had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between the parent-individual relationship quality and problematic internet use. Research analysis showed that negative interaction with parents and creating a negative atmosphere can increase FoMO experiences among adolescents, which might increase their problematic internet use. Limitations, conclusions, and directions for future research are discussed. Keywords Fear of Missing out (FoMO) • Problematic internet use • Parent-adolescent relationship quality Each significant development fundamentally changes the way the world functions, and the development of the internet and the World Wide Web has created a radical change in communication and interpersonal behavior (Kandell, 1998). Mobile internet, which is defined as accessing digitalized internet content wirelessly through mobile devices, provided individuals with the opportunity to establish instant connections and made internet access easier, unlike the fixed internet system (Chae & Kim, 2003). The research data of Turkey Statistical Institute (2020) Information and Communication Technologies Usage in Enterprises supports this idea. It is seen that the rate of access to the internet, which was 80.4% in 2005, increased from 14.5 to 94.9% in 2019 (TÜİK, 2019). Individuals can do many

Therefore, it is important to understand and document the role of emotional intelligence as a mitigating variable in the relationship between psychological distress and life satisfaction. Subjects and methods: This correlational study was carried out with the participation of 483 college students. Their ages ranged from 18 to 31 (X=20.89, Sd=2.27). Results: The hierarchical regression analysis results revealed that both emotional intelligence and psychological distress were statistically significant predictors of the participants' levels of satisfaction with life. Moreover, emotional intelligence was a significant moderator in the relationship between psychological distress and life satisfaction. Conclusion: Researchers and practitioners may find the findings of this study useful in better understanding the role of emotional intelligence in making cognitive assessments of life in the face of hardship.

Data from this study extracted from Indiana Department of Education. ISTEP is a criterion-referenced standardized test. It consists of items that assess a student's performance with respect to particular criteria that was established by the Indiana State Board of Education. Criterion-referenced test scores help us to understand where a student stands in relation to the cut scores based Indiana Academic Standards in English/Language Arts and Mathematics. In fact, the application of ISTEP might be helpful for schools to identify their students' strengths and weaknesses in these content areas. By doing so, they take necessary steps to plan appropriate instruction for students' academic development. However, the Indiana Department of Education's statistical data show that there was a s...
