Skin care products are important factor to improve confidence in individuals. Health of an individual is mainly represented by skin which is the major part of the body. Skin can be affected by several environmental factors such as ultraviolet rays, pollution, dust, and climatic changes that can intensify issues related to skin. Environmental causes can be prevented from skin damage by treating with topical application of synthetic or herbal cosmetics. Methods: In this preparation, diatoms are used, derived from marine phytoplankton which may contain a small quantity of muddy sludge, sand, and debris. Other natural ingredients are kiwi fruit, almond, and coffee seeds. Esthetic ingredients used in this preparation include pH modifiers, viscolysers, and surfactants. Among these ingredients, diatoms and coffee seeds attribute to the exfoliating activity of the prepara...

Conventional route of drug delivery present a big challenge in biopharmaceutical system of these novel systems because of their unique nature and difficulty in delivery. One of the simple and convenient approach in the delivery of the drug is through ethosomes; a novel, non invasive drug carriers that reach the deep skin layers or the blood circulation. Ethosomes are soft, malleable vesicles made for increase in delivery of the drug. These ethosomes have good penetration rate through the skin due to the presence of ethanol as penetration enhancer. Ethosomes improve drug efficiency, increase patient compliance, comfort and reduced total cost. Herbal drug technology has entered into a novel approach of developing herbal ethosomes for herbal drug delivery. Thus, the present review focuses on herbal ethosomes and their development.

The main objective of the present work is to screen the phytochemical constituents present in the selected Churna and to detect the heavy metals and trace elements in the same. Method: Chemical test was performed for the screening of phytochemical constituents and atomic absorption spectroscopy was performed for the detection of heavy metals and trace elements. Result: The Churna contains alkaloids, Glycosides, Terpenoids, Flavonoids, Saponins and the test for other constituents reported negative. The heavy metal content and trace elements present in the Churna was found to be within the limits. Conclusion: From the results, the churna was standardized and its quality has been ensured for safety and efficacy.
Standardization is the need of the hour in Ayurvedic system of medicine. The traditional systems ... more Standardization is the need of the hour in Ayurvedic system of medicine. The traditional systems of medicine are really effective but the problem with them is they lack in quality assurance. This enables us to recognise the quality of the formulation. The Central Council of Research in Ayurveda and Siddha has prescribed the preliminary guidelines for testing the quality of these formulations. It is essential to derive a protocol or develop methods for evaluation of herbal formulation to maintain uniformity between batches during production. The present work aims to standardize a polyherbal churna called Surya Sakthi Churna available in the market. The churna was procured and standardised for the parameters like organoleptic characters, physical characters, physiochemical properties and phytochemical screening etc. These parameters can determine the quality of the product. The results were found to be within the standards.

Acne vulgaris , which is a skin disorder of the pilosebaceous gland leads to the formation of inflammatory lesions, seborrhea, comedone, etc. The pus being formed in acne which triggers inflammation is due to Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus epidermis . There is a remarkable demand of herbal formulations in the global market. The present research work deals with use of ethanolic extracts of garlic, aloe vera and neem in formulation and evaluation of anti acne gel. Methods: 1% of each extract was used to formulate the gel and Carbopol has been used as the gelling agent. Conclusion: These herbs on combination show potential effects on acne and also exert

The primary function of the shampoo is to clean the hair, accumulated sebum, scalp debris and residue of hair. A shampoo formulation must be safe and efficient for a long time use .The use of polyherbal cosmetics are raising as they have few side effects. The main objective of our polyherbal shampoo formulation is to eliminate the harmful effects which are caused due to the synthetic shampoos available in the market. The formulated polyherbal shampoo powder consists of Ritha, Neem leaf, Almond, Henna, Rose petals, Chickpea, Vettiver, Hibiscus leaves and flowers. All these materials were collected shade dried and was made into powder. They were mixed together in respective ratios and the following evaluation tests were carried out – Organoleptic characteristics, powder characteristics, physicochemical evaluation, dirt test, foaming capacity, wetting time, etc. As the selected...

Keeping all these drawbacks in concern, there arises a necessity for novel development of drug delivery with improved therapeutic efficacy and safety with targeted delivery such that size and number of doses could be reduced. This can be achieved by transdermal delivery which possesses several advantages such as avoids first-pass metabolism, eliminates gastrointestinal irritation reduces frequency of dosing, and rapid termination of drug action. Methods: Dried fruits of Terminalia chebula were extracted and preliminary phytochemical evaluation was performed. Ethosome was prepared by cold method using soya lecithin. Ethosomal gel was prepared using carbopol as gelling agent and was evaluated. Results and Discussion: The prepared gel was evaluated for its pharmaceutical properties and was found to be satisfactory. The in vitro drug diffusion of ethosomal gel showed better release compared with that of the gel with extract. In vitro anti-arthritic activity exhibited significant effect compared to that of the standard diclofenac. Conclusion: Considering all the above-mentioned factors, the present study was aimed to develop a natural drug-loaded ethosomal gel for transdermal drug delivery, thereby permeation of drug can be enhanced compared with conventional dosage forms.
