ABSTRACT Reinforcing or repairing concrete structures with carbon fiber- sheet (CFS) is a new adv... more ABSTRACT Reinforcing or repairing concrete structures with carbon fiber- sheet (CFS) is a new advanced method to increase load-carrying capacity and extend the life in service. In this paper, a kind of concrete 3-point bending specimens and that reinforced by CFS are used to experimentally study the fracture mechanism and the extreme load-carrying capacity of the specimens, with several different depths of V-notch, a0, and different lengths of the carbon fiber sheet, Lx. The experimental and analytical results of the beams adhered with CFS are: 1) the stiffness and strength of the beams are increased; 2) the failure mode is different from that of plain concrete specimen; 3) the load- carrying capacity is increased greatly; 4) the relationships between the extreme load P and the depth of V-notch a0, and P vs Lx were established.

Bununla ilgili olarak viskoz moment kayıpları, viskoz akışkan kaçağı ve güç kayıp denklemleri elde edilip, değişik çalışma ortamlarında bu karakteristik parametrelerin değişimi ve mukayesesi deneysel olarak incelenmiştir.

Öz: Endüstride eksenel pistonlu motor ve pompalarda kullanılan kayıcı pabuçlar, çalışma esnasında... more Öz: Endüstride eksenel pistonlu motor ve pompalarda kullanılan kayıcı pabuçlar, çalışma esnasında hidrostatik eksenel kaymalı yatak davranışı göstermektedir. Literatürde, bu pompa ve motorların toplam güç ihtiyacını minimum ve sistemin rijitliğini maksimum olmasını amaçlayan çalışmalar bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, hidrostatik eksenel kaymalı yatak için teorik analiz ve deneysel bulgulardan optimum tasarım parametreleri ve çalışma şartları belirlenmiştir. Deneysel çalışma koşulları, teorik sınırlamalarla birlikte ele alınarak çoklu kriter analizi gerçekleştirmek amacıyla yapay zeka optimizasyon yöntemlerinden biri olan genetik algoritma tekniği kullanılmıştır. Genetik algoritma optimizasyonu, çalışma şartlarını ve tasarım parametrelerini belirlemede geniş bir çözüm kümesi sunmaktadır. Yapılan çalışmalar neticesinde yatak yükleme basıncı 30 bar için yatak yarıçap oranı 0,3537 ve 0,7346 arasında, kılcal boru (orifis) çapı (mm) 0,25 ve 0,4; devir sayısı (dev/dak) 1141 ve 1496 arasında optimum parametre değerleri olarak belirlenmiştir. This paper presents a neural network predictor for analysing rigidity variations of hydrostatic b... more This paper presents a neural network predictor for analysing rigidity variations of hydrostatic bearing system. The designed neural network has feedforward structure with three layers. The layers are input layer, hidden layer and output layer. Two main parameter could be considered for hydrostatic bearing system. These parameters are the size of bearing pocket and the orifice dimension. Due to importancy of these parameters, it is necessary to analyse with a suitable optimisation method such as neural network. As depicted from the results, the proposed neural predictor exactly follows experimental desired results.

In order to survive, companies have to do their best presentation of products to their customers ... more In order to survive, companies have to do their best presentation of products to their customers while considering the requirements of global competiton. Companies and customers have paid an attention to ISO 9000 system within the quality management systems. Therefore, this system, its perceptions, applications and development by companies are worth to investigate. In this research, a questionnaire was formed to determine the profiles of ISO - certified companies in Kayseri. The results of this survey are compared with two different literature survey results, obtained from Kayseri and Turkey, by using statistical techniques. Important conclusions are obtained to guide the certified or planning to be certified companies by discussing survey results.

During the last decade, many successful applications appeared in this area. In this study, alternative models for applications of total quality philosophy on educational institutions are analyzed first. The most appropriate group of models for Engineering Faculty of Erciyes University are determined. The questionnaires are prepared by identifying the critical processes as quality indicators for selected models. These are applied to academic staff and students which are the main internal consumers of Engineering Faculty Administration. The present situation is evaluated to improve the ability of submitting the better service for the students which are the internal consumers and also the main product of the system. In this paper, an analysis of volumetric efficiency of hydrostatic pumps in a variety conditions ... more In this paper, an analysis of volumetric efficiency of hydrostatic pumps in a variety conditions is investigated by using a proposed neural network. The effects of the parameters, such as the number of revolution, hydraulic oil temperature and exit pressures, which act on performances of hydrostatic pumps like gear pumps, vane pumps, and axial reciprocal pumps with swash plate, on the volumetric efficiency have been examined. The revolution number of the pumps, exit pressure of the system and the hydraulic oil temperatures are greatly affected by the leakage flowrate. The neural network structure is very suitable for this kind of system. The network is capable of predicting the leakage flowrate of the experimental system. The network has a parallel structure and fast learning capacity. As it can be seen from the results for both approaches, neural network could be modeled hydrostatic pump systems in real time applications.

In this paper, the characteristics of disk-type hydrostatic thrust bearings supporting concentric... more In this paper, the characteristics of disk-type hydrostatic thrust bearings supporting concentric loads; simulating the major bearing/seal parts of axial piston pumps and motors were investigated. An experimental setup was designed to determine the performance of slippers, which are capable of increasing the efficiency of axial piston pumps and motors, for different conditions. The working parameters and the slipper geometry causing the minimum frictional power loss and leakage oil loss were determined. Since slippers affect the performance of the system considerably, the effects of surface roughnesses on lubrication were studied in slippers with varying hydrostatic bearing areas and surface roughness. The results of the study suggest that the frictional power loss and leakage oil loss were caused by the surface roughness, the relative velocity, the size of the hydrostatic bearing area, supply pressure and capillary tube diameter.
