Research paper thumbnail of Analyzing stereotypes of women in the work force

Much of the current research on the organizational behavior of women is focused on identifying and defining role stereotypes and measuring their impact on the ways in which female managerial employees are socialized into work organizations. This literature is voluminous and generally implies that the existence of role stereotypes detracts from the effectiveness with which women adapt to and produce within the managerial environment (

IEEE/SEMI 1998 IEEE/SEMI Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing Conference and Workshop (Cat. No.98CH36168), 1998

This reliance will be required for reliability, cleanliness, performance, cost, and ergonomic considerations. Traditional interbay movement systems have achieved exceptional performance by carrying primarily single product lots. Multicapacity vehicles offer production facilities more advanced capabilities. They have the ability to mix lots during delivery or pickup, operating much the same as a postman. This paper investigates the relationship between vehicle carrying capacity and process tool batch size by experimenting with a simulation model of the diffusion process. Results indicate that vehicle capacity is the most significant factor impacting average delivery time.

Cost comparisons between optimal economic statistical designs and optimal economic designs show no significant cost increases. The average run length (ARL) constraints added by economic statistical design significantly improve the statistical properties of the control chart scheme. False alarm frequency is limited while keeping good shift detection characteristics. In addition, the Multivariate Exponentially Weighted Moving Average (MEWMA) control schemes performed better from the cost standpoint than the benchmark pure statistical design-the Hotelling T 2 control chart. This improvement held for unconstrained and constrained designs. Finally, cost comparisons at small values of n showed significant advantage for the MEWMA schemes.

One method of accomplishing the required function is with an activity network — most notably PERT networks. Recent research has shown numerical approximation methods to be superior to either deterministic analysis (such as critical paths) or simulation sampling techniques in terms of accuracy and run

It introduces a generic approach to decomposing a queueing network into separate and independent TPNs, each representing a resource of specific type, such as a processing resource or a transporting resource. A decomposed TPN model enables a quick calculation of the resource expected utilization at steady state thus providing a stick yard against which to verify its long run simulation based utilization estimate. A factorial experimental design frame is applied to investigate the conditions and assumptions affecting the accuracy of the TPN decomposition, as compared to the simulation results. The relatively low differences obtained between the numerical results of the two methods provide evidence that this TPN technique can be used to verify simulation models. Eventual flaws in the computerized simulation model can be detected through observed discrepancies between the TPN based and the simulation results.
