The goal of this study is to adapt the Teachers’ Ratings of Child Secure Base Behaviour and Emoti... more The goal of this study is to adapt the Teachers’ Ratings of Child Secure Base Behaviour and Emotion Regulation Scale into Turkish culture. The research group of the study included 295 children aged from 48 to 72 months. A total of 59 teachers participated in the adaptation study for the children. Data obtained were firstly used for confirmatory factor analysis in the scale validity test. According to the CFA results, a 28-item and two-factor structure of the scale was accepted with no need for any amendments. Strong significance was found between the reference scales and the scales on which the criterion-related validity test focused. The Cronbach’s alpha value of the scale was found to be .970 in the reliability test. A strong correlation was found between the two applications in the test re-test stage. The study findings reveal that the scale is a valid and reliable assessment tool for Turkish culture.

İlişkisel araştırma yöntemiyle tasarlanan çalışmaya 293 okul öncesi dönem çocuğu dâhil edilmiştir. Araştırmada çocuklara ait demografik bilgilerin edinilmesi amacıyla Genel Bilgi Formu, çocukların öğrenme güçlüğü erken belirtilerini tespit etmek amacıyla Özgül Öğrenme Bozukluğu Tarama Ölçeği Ebeveyn ve Öğretmen Formu (ÖBTÖ) ve yürütücü işlev bozukluklarını tespit etmek için Çocukluk Dönemi Yürütücü İşlevler Envanteri (ÇDYİE) kullanılmıştır. Veri toplama araçları ile elde edilen veriler Pearson korelasyon katsayısı tekniği ve çoklu doğrusal regresyon analizi ile test edilmiştir. This study aims to analyse the attachment stability of children living in different family types ... more This study aims to analyse the attachment stability of children living in different family types from the age of 6 to 11. The study sample comprises 56 children living in Muş, Turkey, including 28 nuclear families and 28 extended families. The “Incomplete Doll Family Story Scale” was used to evaluate the attachment styles of 6-year-old children. The attachment styles of 11-year-old children were evaluated with the “Kerns Secure Attachment Scale”. The analysis revealed that the attachment of 52% of the study group was stable. No changes were observed in the attachment styles of 52% of children living in nuclear families and 47% of children living in extended families, considering attachment consistency in family type. The results show that the attachment levels of children from both family types are significantly consistent from the age of 6 to 11, and the attachment stability of children living in nuclear families is stronger than children living in extended families.

Acorn squash fruits (Cucurbita pepo L.) are very sweet and are an excellent source of nutrients a... more Acorn squash fruits (Cucurbita pepo L.) are very sweet and are an excellent source of nutrients and vitamins. Very little information is available about their optimal storage temperature or how to extend their shelf life. The present goal was to elucidate the best storage temperature of this fruit, and to evaluate hot water rinsing and brushing (HWRB) technology to maintain fruit quality for several months. The optimal storage temperature was found to be 15 • C. However, treating the fruits with HWRB at 54 • C for 15 s and then storing them at 15 • C significantly maintained fruit quality for 3.5 months, as indicated by higher fruit firmness, lower decay incidence, and improved retention of green skin color.

Attachment in Children Gökçen İLHAN ILDIZ  & Emine AHMETOĞLU  INTRODUCTION Attachment is an em... more Attachment in Children Gökçen İLHAN ILDIZ  & Emine AHMETOĞLU  INTRODUCTION Attachment is an emotional process necessary for survival of a child and is synonymous with the child's search for an emotional tie to a caregiver (Hazan & Shaver, 1994). Emphasizing on the importance of attachment, Bowlby defines is as "the meaningful, private and long-lasting emotional tie between two people". Bowlby (1973) suggests that inclination to and necessity of forming attachment is necessary for survival of newborns and the functional attachment system from the developmental perspective. The most apparent behavior of a child is "the effort to attach". The baby strives to cling to the mother (Güneş, 2014). The baby needs to be attached to the mother and avoids exclusion (Scharff, 1995). "The baby thinks that mother is his/her continuation, wants to see her anytime. In her absence, he/she gets worried, begins to cry and feels alone" (Güneş, 2014). "Need for attachment is apparent in both human beings and primates and can be defined as a bio-social process to protect the newborn baby from external threats, therefore the need for forming close relationships with other human beings is a fundamental aspect of human nature" (Bowlby, 1980). First, Freud (1960) suggested that an infant's emotional attachment to mother formed the basis of his/her future relationships. Contemporary researchers recognized the importance of parent-infant attachment but suggested that following development is influenced not only by early attachment experience but also ongoing quality of parentchild attachment (Berk, 2013). It is known that insecure attachment to the caregiver may cause emotional and behavioral problems in later stages of life (Perry, 2001). To summarize, attachment includes several key roles. Therefore; 1) attachment enables long-lasting emotional ties with special ones, 2) this relationship provides security, comfort and satisfaction, 3) loss or the risk of losing the special one causes extreme suffering" (Perry, 2001). Basic Functions of Attachment Bowlby (1980) suggests the existence of an attachment system designed to safeguard the intimacy between infant and caregiver under threatening circumstances. As infants need care and protection for a long time, they are born with a desire to be close to attachment figures and a series of behaviors to keep this intimacy. The system that strengthens attachment behavior works with the basic objective of providing security and protection. Therefore, when a threat to security is perceived the system works automatically and keeps active through whole life (Shaver&Mikulincer, 2002).
