Some of the major roads leading to the civilization of mankind, bridges for connections and excha... more Some of the major roads leading to the civilization of mankind, bridges for connections and exchanges among the first civilizations were lost, some in deserts, others in limbo, but most important, the European road salt from Ocna Mures and Ocna Sibiu to Vurpar and, from here on, to Blandiana, Deva, Ilia, Arad, Carnuntum, present Isbrukul and further to Raetria and towards the Western part of Europe. In ancient times, the Mures River (Marisus) was one of the rivers situated northern of the Danube River, the heavily used from a strategic and commercial point of view both Roman and barbarian populations in the area. The arrangement of the Mures River for boating purposes comprises extended operations on water management, especially water reservoirs that should provide appropriate levels and sluicing flows.

The production, disposal and application of lubricants have to cover the best possible protection... more The production, disposal and application of lubricants have to cover the best possible protection of our nature and the environment in general and of living beings in particular. For all cases of direct contact between lubricants on the one side and human beings and nature on the other, their compatibility has to be checked. The increasing need for environmental compatibility tests has to be understood by all those working in the fields of production, disposal and application of lubricants. In this paper using the some examples “Coolants and Metal Working Lubricants”, “Engine Oils”, and, “Fast Biodegradable Lubricants and Operational Fluids” some of the most important aspects of environmental damage will be presented. This paper analyses the operating condition for the transportation system used in the National Ha... more This paper analyses the operating condition for the transportation system used in the National Hard Coal Company in Petrosani. This analysis is made for each mine apart and underlines the directions that have to be followed so as to achieve a well-structured revamping that is going to be efficient from an economic point of view. The study of the structure of the transportation systems of mines and their behavior in time shows an intricate construction of strong arborescent trend. One can conclude that the ratio between the lengths of the transportation routes covered by belt conveyors and the ones covered by scraper conveyors shall have to increase in favor of the former ones. This analysis of the transportation system currently existing in the mines of the Jiu Valley represents a pertinent approach to diagnose the elements that hold back the operating performances of its component parts. Composite materials designed to function in environments porne to explosions triggered by combust... more Composite materials designed to function in environments porne to explosions triggered by combustible gases, must be developed and made starting from the physical, mechanical, and structural characteristics specific to their utilisation. Characteristics such as resistance to mechanical stress, high hardness and toughness consist of a complex set difficult to obtain for the same material; an additional property is necessary, namely the so-called "anti-spark" feature, for materials used in potentially explosive environments. The paper presents the conclusions drawn from the analysis of the factors that influence the anti-spark characteristics of multilayer composite materials. The testing of the characteristics of the composite materials made of tungsten carbide were obtained by experiments with samples of material on a special laboratory stand, which confirmed the anti-spark characteristic. The final confirmation of the characteristics of composite materials was obtained by the successful experimentation, during the production process, of a subassembly for the continuous haulage of displaced materials, in a mining unit in a Jiu Valley coal basin.

Also, there are presented certain aspects related to the calculation of size determination for the inductors used to accomplish the joining, according to the required geometry of the drill bits used for the perforation of rocks and coal.

At the level of the Petroșani Basin, the aim is to ensure the mobility of passengers as quickly as possible from one city to another (from east to west - Petrila, Petroșani, Aninoasa, Vulcan, Lupeni, Uricani) or from one part of the city to another, as the case may be. The study of population fluctuations by hours, on working or non-working days, per season allows the realization of a public transport that ensures the movement of people as quickly and safely as possible. The purpose of this paper is to study the way in which public transport is carried out in the Petroșani Basin, the means of transport used and the possibilities to improve this activity. The main pillars supporting sustainable development are society, the environment and the economy, and the diagnosis of the current situation, the identification of solutions, the development plans and their implementation lead to sustainable development in terms of transport activity. As the Petroşani Basin has a high degree of urbanization, the negative effects of increased road traffic are particularly pronounced in the central areas of the cities. Of the environmental factors, air is the most obvious and most important factor in human health. Taking into account the national and European Community targets in terms of climate change mitigation, the reduction of air and noise pollution and greenhouse gas emissions is becoming a priority objective.
