The large amounts of industrial waste from mining in the Mitrovica region in northern Kosovo lead to serious environmental problems with organic and inorganic water and soil pollution. This study aims to design and establish a geospatial database for long-term environmental monitoring, provide analytical tools, and support appropriate management decisions by local authorities and agencies. The database contains topographical elements and ecological parameters collected from different national and open access international sources. All collected data have been analyzed, standardized and harmonized within the open-source QGIS ver.3 software. The results showed that in developed datasets were organized in different GIS layers and compiled several thematic maps. The designed database is uniq...

The requirement of a common ellipsoid, datum, map projection, and finally plane coordinate systems make it possible to use plane geometry for all types of spatial overlay and analysis. Projection of geographic data from the ellipsoidal Earth to a plane coordinate system always results in distortion in area, shape, distance, and other properties. With appropriate selection of a projection, the user can preserve desired characteristics at the expense of others. For the production of Albanian maps are used different cartographic projections. This is explained with the fact that most of these maps are created from foreign persons and geographic institutions, keeping safe their cartographic traditions. These indicators are calculated in terms of existence of migration (Albania is a typical case), where the net migration rate is taken into account, as well as in the assumed conditions of lack of migration. In addition to declining fertility and mortality, the population structure of Albania after the 1990s has been strongly influenced by the constituent processes of continuous emigration. The paper estimates that the indicators of population aging would have been up to 4%-5% lower, if the emigration process had been limited and controlled. From the analysis of statistical indicators, it is noticed that, during the whole period from 2001 until the projection of 2060, the average annual population growth is estimated negative (-0.7%), while the annual population growth over the age of 65 (65+) is estimated positive (+ 0.5%). In order to slow down the phenomenon of aging of the population of Albania and mitigate the negative consequences of this aging, it is recommended to design and elaborate rigorous and continuous immigration and family policies.

They consist of dolomites, limestones with rudists also rich in miliolides and textularides with frequent hiatus, emersions, discontinuity surfaces and even bauxitic horizons. This paper aid to provide some explanations about the origin of blue clays within paleokarst infillings, caverns and the presence of bitumen and their impact in the surrounding rocks in the region of Burizana in Makareshi anticline structure, Kruja zone. This area was previously known for oil exploration and several exploration wells were drilled, in the SouthEast , as Makareshi-1 well, while in the West, Ishem, a series of wells, all with the object of oil exploration in carbonate section from the surrounding structures. Also, in this region, the presence of Miocene transgression is present. The presence of terrigenous rocks in the highest hypsometric position, the intrusion of blue-grey clays between carbonate formation, the smell of sulphur in the blue clay formation and the bitumen signs in the cavities of the carbonate rocks are part of the present study.

The development of geo-cartography has attracted a special attention in recent decades. Albanian ... more The development of geo-cartography has attracted a special attention in recent decades. Albanian geographers are also involved in this development, who are constantly contributing to rise geo-cartography in contemporary levels. Through many works, they have not only deepened the knowledge and analysis in the geo-cartography of Albania, but at the same time have continuously supplemented the geographical and cartographic knowledge as a whole. This article introduces us to the multiple pedagogical and scientific contribution of prof.dr. Perikli Qiriazi in the development of Albanian Geocartography and geo-cartography in general. In his scientific work, based on studies and new geographical concepts, prof. Qiriazi analyzes the physical, morphodynamical and bioclimatic bases of Albania and treat natural heritage, karst ecosystems, degradation and desertification of landscapes, the consequences of global warming, climate, and water crisis in Albania, etc. Of special importance are the geomorphological and cartographic studies that accompany the entire geo-cartographic work of prof. Qiriazi.

The modern concept of medical mapping and its benefits for population health are discussed. The contemporary Geographic Information System (GIS) made generating of medical maps relatively easy. In this study, multiple medical maps were compiled (only two are presented here) based on databases for two neurological diseases-hereditary peripheral neuropathies and epilepsy in GIS environments. The number of patients included in the database is updated regularly, which requires a technology that makes it possible to easily compile maps that represent constantly changing data. For this reason GIS technology is one of the most promising tool in epidemiological researches.

As far as constructors are concerned limestone rocks and clays continue to be categorized as the main materials, which are at a large scale used in low and high construction. These construction materials are primarily used in wall molding, filling, production of various fractions for the preparation of concrete, production of various types of facades, adhesives, production of bricks, blocks, tiles and other products. The underlying purpose of thispaper is to carry out a subtle analysis of the reserves, utilization and some of the main features of limestone and clay in the Republic of Kosovo. Limestones and clays are industrial minerals (nonmetallic minerals) which bear peculiar characteristics such as; textural, structural, physico-mechanical, geological etc. The territory of Kosovo is relatively rich in limestone and clay reserves. Estimated geological reserves in 1978 were 128 million ("M"-million [m 3 ] limestone and 15 "M" [ton] clays, while in 2014 were 361 ("M") [m 3 ] limestone and 27 "M" [ton] clays. According to the physico-mechanical properties limestone belongs to the type of moderately hard and very hard rocks. They have specific average weights of 2.71 [g/cm 3 ], compressive strength of a watersaturated shaft ranging from 107.3 to 152 MPa, CaO, MgO and SiO2 contents of 54.06%, 0.97% and 1.28%. The mineral limestone contituent is mainly made of calcite which varies from 86.04 % to 97.6 %.
The northwestern coast of Egypt is characterized by an international interest due to its history ... more The northwestern coast of Egypt is characterized by an international interest due to its history and magnificent environment, thus worth to be referred as "Bread basket" during the Greek and Roman periods. Recently, drastic changes in land use resulted in destructing many of water harvesting tools, thus diminution agriculture importance. Restoring and planning self-sufficient communities need to develop a sustainable land resources database. The medium scale space data provide a spatial resolution of 30 meters, in addition to multi-temporal imaging. Moreover, Geographic Information System (GIS) permits to store, merge, and manipulate the huge amounts of thematic maps and attribute data. A number of 7 Landsat 8 OLI of June 2019 scenes, and 53 topographic maps at scale 1:50000, covering the whole study area, were acquired and merged. ENVI 5.1 software was used for image processing while ArcGIS 10.4.1 to generate thematic layers relevant to land resource, Field investigation was carried out to represent different soil units and collect ground control points. Chemical and physical soil properties were determined, upon which soil classification was based. Soil map was produced including dominant geographic units and soil association. The Mediterranean Land Evaluation Information System (Micro-LEIS) system was employed to define soil suitability classes for practiced cultivations.
The results showed that the soils are generally characterized by the presence of Calcic, Petrogypsic and Salic horizons. The identified great groups include Torripsamments, Torriorthents, Haplosalids, Petrogypsids and Haplocalcids. Soils of the alluvial fans and watershed basins are deep to moderately deep. The salinity is relatively low whereas the CaCO3 content is mostly high. Land suitability limiting factors found in the piedmont and coastal plains include salinity, soil depth and texture.
It can be concluded that the digital mapping, encouraged by the progress of GIS and satellite imaging, preserve in the investment spent in soil and other thematic mapping.

He was born in the city of Shkodra on July 11, 1928, in a simple and patriotic family originating from Malësia e Madhe. He completed primary and secondary school in the city of Shkodra, city with cultural traditions. At the age of 16, as a participant in the fight for the liberation of the country, he became an effective member of the IV Kosovo Brigade, while at the end of the war in 1944, at his request, he moved from the Kosovo area to the Shkodra Regional Command. After graduating from high school, he worked for about 15 months as a teacher in the village of Dodç in Malësia e Madhe. In the period November 1948 - July 1953 he completed his higher studies with the grade of "excellent" in the branch of geodetic engineering of the Higher Institute of Geodesy, Aero photography and Cartography in Moscow. After returning to Albania (1953), he was appointed senior geodetic specialist at the sector of Geodesy, Geology, Bridges and Road of the Ministry of Construction. In the period 1953-1954, he contributed to the construction of geodetic networks in the coal region of Kërrabë - Pullumbas and in some facilities of hydropower plants on the river Mat. During the period of work in the above sector, has contributed to the performance of geodetic works in several projects such as geodetic networks for large scale surveys of cities and industrial areas, geodetic networks in some industrial and hydropower plants, etc.
At the beginning of September 1954, he was appointed lecturer and head of the geodesy cabinet at the Faculty of Engineering of the former Polytechnic Institute, founded in 1951. This cabinet covered the subjects of geodesy and topography in the branches of construction, geology and mining of the above faculty. In the academic year 1956 - 1957 the branch of geodesy was opened at the former Higher Polytechnic Institute and in September 1957, with the establishment of the State University of Tirana on the basis of the above institute, prof. Muharremi is appointed head of the Department of Geodesy - Geography established at the Faculty of Engineering of this university. The effective pedagogues of this department were: Muharrem Dragovoja (head of department), Pandi Geço, Ndoc Luli, Vasil Naçe, Ibrahim Meçule and Agim Shehu. In the academic year 1958 - 1959, the branch of geography was attached to the faculty of History and Philology, while the branch of geodesy was joined by the branch of geodesy in mining. In 1960, the branch of geodesy in mining was annexed to the Faculty of Geology - Mining, while the Department of Geodesy remained at the Faculty of Engineering with its head prof. Muharem Dragovoja. In 1964 the branch of Geodesy was closed, so the Department of Geodesy covered only 3 courses in the Faculties of Engineering, Geology - Mining and History - Philology. The Geodesy branch was reopened in 1969 to continue to the present day. For excellent work in in leadership of the Department of Geodesy and for the high level of his pedagogical-scientific preparation, prof. Muharrem has been given the title "Docent" since 1971 and later the title "Professor". He was honored with the order "Naim Frashëri", the work order of the third and second class, as well as a series of other medals. With the establishment of the association of Surveyors, Photogrammeters and Cartographers of Albania, prof. Muharremi is unanimously elected its "Honorary President". For the highly commendable work, on the proposal of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Tirana, in 1996, the President of the Republic awarded him the high title "Teacher of the People".
Prof. Muharrem headed the Department of Geodesy for about 32 years, from its founding (1956) until 1988. Two years later he retired, and in 1994 he returned to Moscow with his family. He visited Albania several times, until he passed away on May 3, 2014.
Prof. Muharrem Dragovoja gave an extraordinary contribution to the establishment and development of the branch of geodesy, in terms of preparation of plans and curricula of this branch, in the preparation and publication of lectures and texts of geodetic - cartographic subjects, etc. During his teaching-scientific activity he has prepared dozens of books of university and postgraduate level which have been published, reworked and republished several times (Geodesy, General Geodesy, Polygonometry, Geodetic Interruptions and Analytical Networks, High Geodesy, Manual of Geodesy etc.). He has prepared hundreds of scientific articles published in scientific bulletins of the country and abroad. He has prepared monographs and scientific studies, is a co-author of the encyclopedic dictionary published in our country, etc. It has never been detached from participating in the design and implementation work of the Department of Geodesy in cooperation with the country's institutions. He has participated in the design of geodetic works for the development of works in the Hydropower Plants of Ulza, Shkopet, Bistrica, etc.
He has led the design and implementation of works for the development of geodynamic polygons in some seismic regions of the country, for the study of the Adriatic Sea Shelf, etc.
Thanks to his work, the Department of Geodesy which he led for over 30 years, grew and developed by preparing over 500 surveyors, as well as diplomas and scientific papers. During these years of his leadership, over 20 dissertations were defended in the Department of Geodesy by the members of the department and by foreign specialists of the country. In the same years, the Department of Geodesy has published dozens of textbooks, has held several scientific sessions where numerous references and papers have been held, etc.
Prof. Muharrem Dragovoja is a well-known man in the Albanian academic world up to the international arena with studies and geo-cartographic analyzes materialized as matter (several hundred study pages, documents, etc.); as fields of study (geodesy, cartography, photogrammetry, history of cartography, etc.); as a subject (published, in manuscript, translated, adapted) etc. It is difficult to find a publication or study in the field of geo-cartography (1954 - 1990), which are not related to the name, interest and finally to the contribution of Prof. Muharrem Dragovoja.
Prof. Muharrem was distinguished as the organizer and coordinator of all academic and scientific activities of the branch of Geodesy. He was always noted for his simplicity, sincerity, exemplary correctness and dedication. He will remain in the history of Albanian higher education as one of the most excellent methodologists, who with his model lectures, has left an indelible impression on all students who were fortunate enough to attend his fluent and concise lectures and in high scientific level. We all remember prof. Muharrami, wise and calm and who never got tired of explaining and teaching his students. He never spared to give his help to any specialist in need; we all remember his resounding and pleasant voice in the explanations in the university auditoriums. Wherever he went, wherever he worked, wherever he stayed, he left behind only good impressions, he left behind only friends and people who loved and respected him. Such figures as Prof. Dragovoja, one of the giants of Albanian geodesy, is by no means forgotten.
Prof. Muharrem Dragovoja with his work and scientific and human personality, will be remembered with a deep sense of gratitude and respect for that precious scientific legacy he left us, for that rare model of human and scientific behavior and communication that few have the privilege to achieve, for that unparalleled commitment to transmit geo-cartographic knowledge to his students and all other specialists. He will long remain in the memory of generations not only as a prominent surveyor and cartographer, but also as a tireless and visionary leader in the field of geo-cartographic studies and the history of Albanian cartography.

Për këtë do ta citoj thënien:
Për të bërë armiq nuk ka nevojë të shpallësh luftë;

This will enable them and global community to gain some knowledge in understanding the terms of this glossary.
Actually, we are witnessing numerous problems in professional communicating within and outside the profession. In different disciplines, the use and importance of the same professional terms is different, greatly varied and mostly unstandardized, as elsewhere. Generally, such a situation results in slowing further development of science and some particular professions. The lack of such glossaries may be also experienced as stagnation or narrowing of professional space. This document is translated into Albanian language as agreed with conditions of the OGC authorities. Meritorious, whose comments and suggestions contributed to improve the explanation of terms in Albanian language are : prof. dr. Kamer Nela, Teuta Sahatqija, mr.sc., prof. dr. Qamil Haxhibeqiri, Dukagjin Sahatqija, mr.sc., and prof. Feim Komoni.
We kindly invite you to send your comments and suggestions to the translated Glossary in Albanian at ramiz.berisha@ymail.com or www.geo-see.org

To enable efficient and precise communication, every specialty, including this one, has its own special terms and special definitions of ordinary words. Facilitating agreement on definitions of geospatial technology terms-for the sake of "semantic interoperability"-is appropriately part of OGC's mission. As geospatial technology comes into wider use through OpenGIS Specifications that enable its integration into the rest of the information technology world, there is a growing need for a definitive ("normative") geospatial technology industry glossary. To create this glossary, we have drawn from a number of sources and from our familiarity with the language and agreed terms of the OGC Technical Committee. This is a living document, an open source document whose content will change as the technology and technology agreements evolve. We invite you to send your comments and suggestions to Glossary at editor@opengeospatial.org.
