Writing anxiety has been considered a significant hindrance for most Indonesian EFL students. Wit... more Writing anxiety has been considered a significant hindrance for most Indonesian EFL students. With a growing number of available literatures on this issue, this paper aims to grasp the trends and deliver some implications to the national and local context. The available researches are the ones that have been published from 2017 to 2021. The subjects in those researches are university students majoring in English department. This review is one of the steps in pre-research on students’ anxiety in research courses and it has been done by using scoping study method. Therefore, taken from the thirteen collected literature, the trends have been summed up into 1. Types and levels of writing anxiety; 2. Factors or causes of writing anxiety; 3. Strategies to reduce writing anxiety; 4. Implications. The findings show that cognitive anxiety, linguistic difficulties the dominant in the trends of types and factors of students writing anxiety. Also, as a response to Indonesian students’ unsatisfied performance in English skills, this study was aimed to introduce and propose an instructional framework using "Snapshot" for college students. As one of the Dogme ELT activities, it hopefully can boost students' motivation, participation, and ability to use the target language orally. Abstract: The aim of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of teaching technique cal... more Abstract: The aim of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of teaching technique called information transfer technique in teaching listening comprehension on dialogue to Year-7 students of SMP Negeri 2 Mempawah Hilir in Academic Year 2012/2013. It was a pre-experimental study in one group pretest posttest design . The data were collected by using audio file with the written test in form of table, total of the test items were 8 and then analyzed by using ES (Effect Size) formula. The sample was VIIA class that consisted of 36 students. The finding showed that the effect size of treatment was 0.89 (ES > 0.80) and categorized as high with the mean score of the students’ 74.65. This mean score after the teaching (post-test) increased if compared with the mean score before the teaching (pre-test) 61.45. The difference score between pre-test and post-test was 13.20. Abstract: The purposes of this research are to investigate teacher’s perceptions regarding their ... more Abstract: The purposes of this research are to investigate teacher’s perceptions regarding their understanding on CLT principles, their perceived challenges in adapting CLT in their classrooms, and if there is a discrepancy between their perceptions toward CLT principles and their actual teaching practices. The context of this research was the English teachers in 44 different Junior High Schools in Mempawah district. This research is survey with descriptive quantitative in nature. The data was collected through a combination of questionnaires and classroom observation checklists. Based on the data which was gathered from the questionnaire and classroom observations, it was indicated that the teachers mostly had a good understanding about CLT principles. Unfortunately, they did not practice all of CLT principles in their teaching classroom. It was also found that most of the teachers deal with the perceived challenges. In the response to this phenomenon, the Indonesian Ministry of Education has been trying to increase the quality of the education system since years ago; one of them is the changes of curriculum and its teaching approaches. Among many curricula that had been adapted in Indonesia, it is believed that communicative approach or communicative language teaching has mostly adapted in more than two changes of curricula. Technology plays an important role in teaching and learning process. The use of technology in the... more Technology plays an important role in teaching and learning process. The use of technology in the classroom helps practitioners to improve the effectiveness of learning. Concerning with these facts, it is necessary to have specific guidelines regarding the implementation of technology in the classroom to optimize the benefits of the technology. This study aims to explain the notion of technology integration and its use in the classroom. It provides multimedia technology-based teaching framework contains activities that can be used by teachers or lecturers to be applied in the classroom. This study also explains some of the literature from previous researchs on the use of multimedia technology which has the role of improving students English language skills. Hopefully, this research can be useful for educators to integrate multimedia technology in the classroom.
This review paper described some documented researches on teachers’ perception and attitudes towa... more This review paper described some documented researches on teachers’ perception and attitudes toward Communicative Language Teaching into some patterns: teachers’ understanding toward CLT concept theoretically, teachers’ implementation of CLT in classrooms, and teachers’ challenges/ and difficulties in implementing CLT. Instead of taking the existing researches globally, this paper took the ones within the scope of Indonesia in the publication year 2013-2019; therefore, there were eight researches in total. The results showed that most of teachers were favorable to the CLT concepts and most of them showed that they understand CLT, theoretically. In contrast, in practical, many of teachers had been found to be not consistent with what they had claimed about CLT concept; it can be related to some challenges and / difficulties they had been shared such as lack of teaching training, having over workload; students’ tendency not to use the target language; big class size, and grammarbased ...
