To show how difficult integration of different environmental data, for example of different monitoring systems is we will specify an integration approach for such systems and demonstrate a concept how integration can be done.

Emission inventories require the management, documentation and interrelation of large amount of h... more Emission inventories require the management, documentation and interrelation of large amount of heterogeneous data in a user-controlled logic. emikat.at is a system that supports those who establish emission inventories and work with it. emikat.at consists of a data administration server and a user interface residing on the users' PC's (client). At the server database all data is administered specifically for different clients and different versions. Access is limited to authorized clients and their users. Through the user interface, users have the possibility to add, edit and delete data as wells as to define alternate scenarios and to calculate model results. emikat.at derives emissions for the smallest available administrative units, i.e. "census tracts". In each census tract, emissions are calculated according to the specific properties of emission sources, organized according to business sectors (NACE-system), emission source categories (SNAP-system), as well as according to input materials, fuel types and transformation processes. Emissions from line sources (road traffic) are directly associated to the major roads of a census tract. Emissions can also be calculated on the basis of a 100x100 m raster grid; in that case, land use within a census tract is considered for the spatial allocation of emissions. Results that have a defined spatial reference (such as census tracts, communities, counties, raster cells) can also be visualized as maps. The system was applied to calculate the emissions for the reference year 2003 for the city of Vienna along with two "what-if"-scenarios of this reference year. This paper includes a few illustrative results from the Vienna case study.

For that task an acceptable technology was found by using World Wide Web. To demonstrate how this new technology can be used to access actual environmental information via meta information the Austrian Research Centre Seibersdorf developed an WWW prototype. In the following chapters a World Wide Web (WWW) gateway for the Austrian Ozone Monitoring Network will be described, first emphasizing some aspects of the Austrian Ozone Monitoring Network and second talking in detail about the implemented data presentation for environmental information.

The descriptions and general specifications outlined here have to be read in context with: D2.1: Requirements on grid infrastructure - describing systemic requirements for DC and hybrid Alternating Current and Direct Current (ACDC) grid installations with derived Key Performance Indicators (KPI)s to assess the grid quality; D2.2: Use case specification - a collection of use cases for the pilot installations in HYPERRIDE and relevant technologies such as Information and Communications Technology (ICT) solutions and components (converters, breakers, measurement units). While some solutions for DC grid installations can be directly transferred from AC to DC, it is necessary that novel solutions are developed in many areas from the overall system to individual components. The areas where HYPERRIDE will provide and showcase them at the demonstration sites are: Grid planning and simula...

Today, the particle accelerator community does not possess a common platform that permits storing and sharing reliability and availability information in an efficient way. In large accelerator facilities used for fundamental physics research, each machine is unique, the scientific culture, work organisation, and management structures are often incompatible with a streamlinedindustrialapproach. Other accelerator facilities enter the area of industrial process improvement, like medical accelerators due to legal requirements and constraints. The Heidelberg Ion Beam Therapy Center is building upa system for reliability and availability analysis, exploring the technical and organisational requirements for a community wide information system on accelerator system and component reliability and availability.
