Designing and manufacturing of an educational mode shape generator and analyzer is the main aim o... more Designing and manufacturing of an educational mode shape generator and analyzer is the main aim of this study. For this purpose, a group of undergraduate students were developed a test bench for the modal analysis of a cantilever beam. A harmonic exciter is designed and manufactured. Its name set as Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University first version or AYBU1. This exciter will used to excite a cantilever beam excite the example. The harmonic shaker is the most expensive part of such test bench. Therefore, an educational version of common harmonic shakers will be designed and produced. In this way the total price of final product shall be low as well.

Frekans spektrumlarinda frekans zirveleri, kafes frekansi ve katlari, saftin radyal yondeki dogal frekansi ve bilyanin radyal yondeki titresim frekansinda ortaya cikmaktadir.

Rulman titresimleri, olcumu ve analizi ozet olarak verilmis, silindirik tip yuvarlanma elemanina sahip bir rulmanda olusan dis bilezik hasarinin titresim analizi ile belirlenmesi sunulmustur. Literaturde de belirtildigi gibi rulman dis bileziginde olusan tek nokta hasarinin neden oldugu titresimin dalga formu grafiginde frekansi dis bilezik bilye gecis frekansina esit olan darbe sinyalleri olustugu, spektrum grafiginde ise rulman ariza frekansinin katlarinda frekanslar olustugu belirlenmistir. Elde edilen sonuclardan, titresim analizinin rulman hasarlarini belirlemede etkili bir sekilde kullanilabilecegi gorulmustur.

Bu simulasyon programi, deney setinde kullanilan mil ve rulman boyutlari girilerek calistirilmis ve farkli mil hizlari icin milin titresim spektrumlari elde edilmistir. Simulasyon programindan elde edilen teorik sonuclarla deneysel sonuclar karsilastirildiginda goreceli olarak bir uyum gozlemlenmistir.

Cylinder pressure – crank angle graphs were obtained for ideal Otto cycle by using obtained equations. In the followings section, the 4 stroke engine was modeled by using 1-D numerical analysis program and pressure data acquired. The graph obtained by theoretical calculations and the other one obtained by the 1-D model were compared. The deviations of the cylinder pressure data determined by ideal system assumptions from the actual data were determined and illustrated. The aim of project was to investigate the passive noise reduction methods in mufflers. Also, another aim of this study is to examine and design mufflers with various geometries. This is learning the effect of geometry on noise transmission loss maximization performance of mufflers. Four-pole method is used to determine the noise transmission loss. Two different cross-sectional geometries are considered for the mufflers, i.e. rectangular and circular. These mufflers are produced and tested. A noise transmission test bench is used for the measurement of noise transmission loss of these mufflers. The analytical results from simulation are compared with the experimental results. The effect of geometry of mufflers on the maximization of the transmitted noise loss are investigated and reported. The finite element analysis software ABAQUS is used to compute the response values for different combinations of design variables. The statistical design of the experiments provides a mathematical framework for such computer design optimization studies with multiple design variables. Yet, it has not been used for design optimization of silencers in the literature. Makinelerin bu önemli elemanlarının zorlayıcı şartlar altında çalışması sonucu, dişilerde hasarlar meydana gelmekte ve daha büyük olumsuzlukları önleyebilmek için bu hasarların bilinmesi ve oluşum nedenlerinin tespit edilmesi gerekmektedir. Bu çalışmada amaç, dişli arızalarının sebep olduğu titreşimlerin istatistiksel proses kontrol grafiklerinde analiz edilerek düz dişli hata tespitini gerçekleştirmektir. Bu amaçla bir deney düzeneği kurulmuş, önce sağlam dişlilerin kullanılması ile farklı yükleme ve devir sayıları durumları için rulmanlı yataklar üzerinden radyal yöndeki titreşimler kaydedilerek referans spektrumları elde edilmiştir. Daha sonra sağlam dişliler üzerinde yapılan işlemlerle suni olarak aşınma ve kırık hasarları oluşturulmuştur. Düzenek çeşitli ön yük ve devir sayılarında çalıştırılarak rulman yataklarındaki titreşimler kaydedilmiştir. Bu titreşimlerin frekans spektrumları ve istatistiksel proses kontrol grafikleri çizdirilmiştir. Sağlam ve hasarlı dişli durumları için oluşturulan grafikler karşılaştırıldığında aşınmış dişli, tek dişi kırık pinyon dişli ve tek dişi kırık pinyon ve tekerlek dişli hasarlarının varlığı tespit edilebilmiştir.

In this study, the relationship between vibration and tool wear is investigated during high-speed... more In this study, the relationship between vibration and tool wear is investigated during high-speed dry turning by using statistical parameters. It is aimed to show how tool wear and the work piece surface roughness changes with tool vibration signals. For this purpose, a series of experiments were conducted in a CNC lathe. An indexable CBN tool and a 16MnCr5 tool steel that was hardened to 63 HRC were both used as material twins in the experiments. The vibration was measured only in the machining direction using an acceleration sensor assembled on a machinery analyzer since this direction has more dominant signals than the other two directions. In addition, tool wear and work piece surface roughness are measured at different cutting time intervals where the cutting speed, radial depth of cut, and feed rate are kept constant. The vibration signals are evaluated using statistical analysis. The statistical parameters in this study are the Root Mean Square (RMS), Crest Factor, and Kurtosis values. When the flank wear increases, the Kurtosis value and RMS also increase, but the Crest factor exhibited irregular variations. It is concluded that these statistical parameters can be used in order to obtain information about tool wear and work piece surface roughness.

In this paper, a shaft-bearing model is developed in order to investigate the rolling element vib... more In this paper, a shaft-bearing model is developed in order to investigate the rolling element vibrations for an angular contact ball bearing with and without defects. The shaft-bearing assembly is considered as a mass-spring system. The system shows a nonlinear characteristic under dynamic conditions. The equations of motion in radial and axial directions were obtained for shaft and rolling elements, and they were solved simultaneously with a computer simulation program. Additionally, the effect of localized defects on running surfaces (i.e., inner ring, outer ring, and ball) on the vibration of the balls is investigated. Vibration of rolling elements in the radial direction is analyzed in time and frequency domains. Characteristic defect frequencies and their components can be seen in the frequency spectra of rolling element vibrations. Comparison of the obtained results with similar studies available in literature showed reasonable qualitative agreement.

Dişli çarklar güç ve hareket iletimi için endüstrinin her alanında, değişik ortam ve koşullarda k... more Dişli çarklar güç ve hareket iletimi için endüstrinin her alanında, değişik ortam ve koşullarda kullanılan makine elemanlarıdır. Makinelerin bu önemli elemanlarının zorlayıcı şartlar altında çalışması sonucu, dişilerde hasarlar meydana gelmekte ve daha büyük olumsuzlukları önleyebilmek için bu hasarların bilinmesi ve oluşum nedenlerinin tespit edilmesi gerekmektedir. Bu çalışmada amaç, dişli arızalarının sebep olduğu titreşimlerin istatistiksel proses kontrol grafiklerinde analiz edilerek düz dişli hata tespitini gerçekleştirmektir. Bu amaçla bir deney düzeneği kurulmuş, önce sağlam dişlilerin kullanılması ile farklı yükleme ve devir sayıları durumları için rulmanlı yataklar üzerinden radyal yöndeki titreşimler kaydedilerek referans spektrumları elde edilmiştir. Daha sonra sağlam dişliler üzerinde yapılan işlemlerle suni olarak aşınma ve kırık hasarları oluşturulmuştur. Düzenek çeşitli ön yük ve devir sayılarında çalıştırılarak rulman yataklarındaki titreşimler kaydedilmiştir. Bu titreşimlerin frekans spektrumları ve istatistiksel proses kontrol grafikleri çizdirilmiştir. Sağlam ve hasarlı dişli durumları için oluşturulan grafikler karşılaştırıldığında aşınmış dişli, tek dişi kırık pinyon dişli ve tek dişi kırık pinyon ve tekerlek dişli hasarlarının varlığı tespit edilebilmiştir.

In this study, the relationship between vibration and tool wear is investigated during high-speed... more In this study, the relationship between vibration and tool wear is investigated during high-speed dry turning by using statistical parameters. It is aimed to show how tool wear and the work piece surface roughness changes with tool vibration signals. For this purpose, a series of experiments were conducted in a CNC lathe. An indexable CBN tool and a 16MnCr5 tool steel that was hardened to 63 HRC were both used as material twins in the experiments. The vibration was measured only in the machining direction using an acceleration sensor assembled on a machinery analyzer since this direction has more dominant signals than the other two directions. In addition, tool wear and work piece surface roughness are measured at different cutting time intervals where the cutting speed, radial depth of cut, and feed rate are kept constant. The vibration signals are evaluated using statistical analysis. The statistical parameters in this study are the Root Mean Square (RMS), Crest Factor, and Kurtosis values. When the flank wear increases, the Kurtosis value and RMS also increase, but the Crest factor exhibited irregular variations. It is concluded that these statistical parameters can be used in order to obtain information about tool wear and work piece surface roughness.

One of them is compound of 63 %Cu, 27%Zn, the other is compound of 70 %Cu, 30%Zn. For this purpose, the vibrations as a result of impact shocks were analyzed. The signals obtained in defect-free and holed beams were compared in the frequency domain.

In this paper, a shaft-bearing model is developed in order to investigate the rolling element vib... more In this paper, a shaft-bearing model is developed in order to investigate the rolling element vibrations for an angular contact ball bearing with and without defects. The shaft-bearing assembly is considered as a mass-spring system. The system shows a nonlinear characteristic under dynamic conditions. The equations of motion in radial and axial directions were obtained for shaft and rolling elements, and they were solved simultaneously with a computer simulation program. Additionally, the effect of localized defects on running surfaces (i.e., inner ring, outer ring, and ball) on the vibration of the balls is investigated. Vibration of rolling elements in the radial direction is analyzed in time and frequency domains. Characteristic defect frequencies and their components can be seen in the frequency spectra of rolling element vibrations. Comparison of the obtained results with similar studies available in literature showed reasonable qualitative agreement.
