My close relationship with my brother provided me with a strong sense of the struggles of (him) being disabled, in contrast with (me) being so-called “normal”. In this paper I discuss the debate concerning the two major competing models of disability in contrast with my perception of the role of the notions of normalcy in our society as an obstacle for the enablement of people with impairments. The paper structure consists of a narrative account in the form of an autobiographical and eye witnessing analysis together with a brief critical literature review.

The chosen media to investigate children's perceptions are their visual and verbal representation of differences. Therefore, this investigation is concerned with the verbal and non-verbal aspects of communication, including an interest in

In view of that, SSS model reflects the ten principles of effective mentoring and coaching proposed by the DfES as shown in Table 1. According to CUREE, “these ten principles, based on evidence from research and consultation, are recommended to inform mentoring and coaching programmes in schools and to help increase the impact of continuing professional development on student learning”.

The REAP model is an alternative learning environment inside a mainstream secondary school, which offers the space and time for individualisation that the classroom limits. A REAP space would differ from an inclusion room in the sense that its purpose would extrapolate that of an inclusion room, and it is detailed in the body of the proposal.

This essay intends to present one possible answer to the proposed question about how an understanding of narrative can be regarded as an educative process; answer that takes into account mainly stated personal understandings of the question.
