The hydatid cyst fluid (HCF) is very important to the fertility of the cysts, this cystic fluid plays an important role in the unicellular hydatid cyst. In the collection 10 HCF samples were from the liver and lung to sheep then examination all the cysts, all the cysts were centrifuged at 10000xg for 15 min in 4c, and then all biochemical components were examined in the automatic analyzer. In the results, each calcium and potassium were different in cysts collected by (P<0.001).

This purpose was examined by a flotation test of 110 horse fecal samples, divided according to age and sex. The results of this study showed two types of internal parasites, Nematodes and Protozoon; some horses were infected with more than one type of these parasites simultaneously. Examined horses were infected with Strongylus spp. by 71.8%, Parascaris equorum by 33.6%, and Eimeria spp. by 20%. Some of examined horses were suffering from infection with more than one types of internal parasites in same time, so that 12.7% of examined horses were infected with three types of parasites P. equorum , S. spp , E. spp, while 16.3% of these animals were infected with P. equorum , S.spp. However, 3.6% , 1.8% were infected with P. equorum , E. spp., and S. spp , E. spp. Female horses were more infected with these parasites than male horses, and percentage rates of female i...

Research paper thumbnail of Isolation of Sarcocystis species infecting sheep in Kerbala province by traditional and molecular methods

Among domestic animals Sarcocystis spp. is considered one of the most protozoa that infected predominantly. A total number of 45 slaughtered sheep ranged their ages from 1 to 3 old years were randomly collected from slaughterhouse , in Kerbala Province. The tissue samples were collected from esophagus muscles was found that among total of (N=45) examined sheep by naked eye, there was (6.6%) confirmed infections with macrocytic form, while the infection rate with the microscopic form of the parasite was (93.3%). The naked eyes used to detect the macroscopic sarcocysts in the collected samples in both the parasitological lab and abattoir. DNA was extracted from individual cysts and the amplification of part of the subunit 18S of the ribosomal DNA (rDNA) was done by Poly Chain Reaction (PCR) of Sarcocystis spp. to investigate this parasite .

Research paper thumbnail of Uses of Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum) leaves alcoholic extract in treatment of nephrotoxicity induced by acetaminophen in male rats

International journal of health sciences

Forty male rats divided into 4 groups as follow: C-, C+,T1 and T2. The result showed detectable depletion in serum creatinine in groups treated with FSE extract. Furthermore there were maximum depletion of serum urea levels statistically increased in group treated with plant as treatment withcontrol. In contrast the high levels of BUN and UN revealed in control negative group which received 2mg/kg.bw of acetaminophen without treatments. For the iron levels there were also increase in animals exposed to FSE in both doses 300 and 150mg/kg.bw comparing with control positive and negative, furthermore there were increased in group of control positive which was healthy animals comparing with those exposed to acetaminophen toxicity, also histopathological slides showed significant damage and loss of architecture on renal tissu...

Three species of lice were only found Columbicola columbae (Linnaeus 1758), Columbicola tschulyschman (Eichler, 1942) and Campanulotes compar (Burmeister, 1838) in Kerbala province, Iraq. A total of 180 pigeons were randomly selected from the cubbyholes in markets (90 males and 90 females) to estimate the presence of chewing lice. Results were recorded two species of ectoparasites including Columbicola tschulyschman (Eichler, 1942) and Campanulotes compar (Burmeister, 1838) for the first time. The total infestation of pigeons was 81% of all examined pigeons. No significant differences were observed between males, female and months (P>0.05). The highest percentage was (100%) in July and August and lowest in September and December was 66.6%. Although Columbicola columbae was more abundant, but other two species of lice wa...
