Particularly, the emerging Industry 4.0 technologies can improve the agri-food supply chain throughout all its stages. This study aims to highlight the benefits of implementing Industry 4.0 in the agri-food supply chain. First, it presents how technologies enhance the agri-food supply chain development. Then, it identifies and highlights the most common challenges that Industry 4.0 implementation faces in agri-food’s environment. After that, it proposes key performance indicators to measure the advantages of this implementation. To achieve this, a systematic literature review was conducted. It combined conceptual and bibliometric analyses of 78 papers. As a result, the most suitable technologies were identified, e.g., Internet of Things, Big Data, blockchain and cyber physical systems. The most used indicators are proposed and the challenges of implementation were detected and classified in three groups, i.e., technical, education...

A new indicator derived from OEE is presented, overall process effectiveness (OPE), which measures the effectiveness of an operation process. The action research (AR) methodology was used; collaborative work was done between researchers and management team participation. The framework was developed with the researchers’ and practitioners’ experiences, and the data was collected and analyzed; some improvements were applied and finally, a critical reflection of the process was done. This new metric contributes to measuring the unloading process, identifying losses, and generating continuous improvement plans tailored to organizational needs, increasing their market competitiveness and reducing the non-value-add activities. The OEE framework is implemented in a new domain, opening a new line of research applied to logistic process performance. This framew...

This study aims to define a new metric based conceptually on the traditional OEE. The new indicator measures the efficiency of logistic equipment in this case a system of automated handling: automated guided vehicles (AGVs). The indicator was developed by parameterizing the variables and defining the losses found in the process. It was applied in a factory of car parts and spare parts, two AVGs were analyzed in two different routes. The new indicator was effectively adapted to measure the performance of a logistics equipment. The OEEagv results obtained are those expected by the company, although some authors value the indicator with a higher percentage. Also, the result has shown that a new route could be added for more efficient use of the two AGVs.

The purpose of this study is to review and analyze the evolution of OEE, present modifications made over the original model and identify future development areas. This paper presents a systematic literature review; a structured and transparent study is performed by establishing procedures and criteria that must be followed for selecting relevant evidences and addressing research questions effectively. In a general search, 862 articles were obtained; after eliminating duplicates and applying certain inclusion and exclusion criteria, 186 articles were used for this review. This research presents three principal results: (1) The academic interest in this topic has increased over the last five years and the keywords have evolved from being related to maintenance and production, to being related to lean manufacturing and optimization; (2) A list of authors who have developed model...

These carpets generally attract attention with the size of prayer rugs and their pattern composition. There are many different groups among the Ottoman rugs found in Transylvania. Among these, Uschak Rugs with White Grounds are quite a different group. It is thought that these carpets were woven in the province of Uşak in the past, and in the town of Selendi, which is connected to the province of Manisa today. The pattern compositions of Uschak carpets with a white background are named as bird, Chintamani, triple points and scorpion. In Ottoman documents and records, such as the Es'ar Book of 1640, other carpets are mentioned, apart from carpets with scorpion motifs. World-renowned carpet experts such as Kurt Erdmann, Ferenc Batári, Marino Dall'Oglio, Stefano Ionescu, Michael Franses admit that although there is no record of the Scorpion motif carpets, these carpets were woven in the same workshop as other carpets in Selendi. World-renowned carpet experts argue that the scorpion-patterned carpets and other white-based Selendi carpets have the same material, technique, application properties and colour similarities. Foreign researchers have defined the scorpion motif as the scorpion, the crab, the struggle of two geometrically stylized animals. The scorpion motif was developed in a square unit, and it was placed between the motifs forming columns in the area in the middle of the carpet in full and staggering repeats. Straight, interrupted and diagonal lines were used in the creation of the motifs. The aim of choosing the subject of "An Unknown Group of White-Ground Uschak Rugs: Selendi Carpets with Scorpion Motifs" as a research; the fact that it has not been noticed before in research and publications on Turkish Carpet Weaving in our country. The absence of a sample of this carpet group in Turkey is a deficiency for Turkish Carpet Weaving. There are four different examples in museums and collections abroad. In addition, there are international publications that are considered to be pioneers in this field. In this study, the motif and pattern feature of Selendi Rugs with Scorpion Motifs, which are among the White Ground Uschak Rugs, which are among the Ottoman Uschak Rugs, which are unknown and unrecognized in our country, will be examined. The reasons for these carpets to be found in Transylvanian churches and the geographical and social structure of the region will be investigated.

To achieve this, we integrated the machine tool indicator into a cyber–physical system for easy and real-time capturing of data. We also developed software that can turn these data into relevant information (using Python): Using this software, we were able to view machine tool activities and energy consumption in real time, which allowed us to determine the activities with greater energy burdens. As such, we were able to improve the application of Industry 4.0 in machine tools by allowing informed real-time decisions that can reduce energy consumption. In this research, a new Key Performance Indicator (KPI) was been developed and calculated in real time. This KPI can be monitored, can measure the sustainability of machining processes in a green supply chain (GSC) using Nakajima’s six big losses ...

However, this evolution is faced with some barriers, such as the implementation of additive manufacturing (AM) in operations, its productivity limitations, and economic and social sustainability. These barriers need to be overcome in order to realize the full potential of AM. The objective of this study is to analyze the bibliometric data on these barriers through a systematic review in two study areas: business model innovation and sustainability in AM from Industry 4.0 perspective. Using the most common keywords in these two study areas, we performed a search on the Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus databases and filtered the results using some inclusion and exclusion criteria. A bibliometric analysis was performed for authorship productivity, journals, the most common keywords, and the identified research clusters in the study areas. For the bibliometric analysis, the BIBEXCEL software was used to extract the relevant information, and Bibliometrix was used to determine the research trend over the past few years. Finally, a literature review was performed to identify future trends in the study areas. The analysis showed evidence of the relationship between the study areas from a bibliometric perspective and areas related to AM as an enabler for Industry 4.0.

This paper follows the methodology explained below. A cost model has been used to accurately develop this indicator together with the Six Big Losses description. At the same time, the machine tool has been integrated into a CPS, enhancing the real-time data acquisition, using the Industry 4.0 technologies. Once the KPI has been defined, we have developed the software that can turn these real-time data into relevant information (using Python) through the calculation of our indicator. Finally, we have carried out a case of study showing our new KPI results and comparing them to other indicators related with the Six Big Losses but in different dimensions. This data acquisition, together with its transformation in valuable information, are indispensable for the development of real-time indicators. Moreover, real-time indicators provide companies with a competitive advantage over the competition since they enhance the calculus and speed up the decision-making and failure detection. Our research highlights the advantages of real-time data acquisition for supply chains, developing indicators that would be impossible to achieve with traditional systems, improving the accuracy of the existing ones and enhancing the real-time decision-making. Moreover, it brings out the importance of integrating technologies 4.0 in industry, in this case, CPS and IoT, and establishes the main points for a future research agenda of this topic.
