Lateral violence describes aggression within systemically exploited groups. Interpretations from eligible articles were informed by intersectionality theory and post-colonial theory. Eligibility criteria included quantitative and qualitative peer-reviewed articles on lateral violence within Indigenous communities. Only articles that were primary sources, available to download in English, and published between 2000 and 2021 were included. Samples did not need to consist of Indigenous women exclusively, but Indigenous women had to be included. First, advanced searches were conducted in five databases (Academic Search Complete, PsycINFO, Indigenous Peoples: North America, ProQuest: Sociology Collection, and ERIC). Second, a multidisciplinary index (Google Sc...

This study addresses this gap by applying this expanded version of TPB with a sample of 342 junior high school students ( M age = 12.27, 207 girls and 135 boys) from seven schools from a large Western Canadian municipality. Overall, 11.08% of participants were classified as students who bully others (“bullies”) and 13.21% as students who bully others and are also victimized themselves (“bully-victims”), with boys reporting higher levels than girls. Structural equation modelling was used to test a TPB-informed model to explain the relations between psychological adjustment, self-concept, attitude and beliefs about aggression, perceived control, intention, and bullying behaviour. The final models accounted for 40% of the variance in bullying and 34% of the variance in bully-victimization, although the models differed. Both bullying behaviour and bully-victimization were predicted by less support for the victim, normative beliefs supporting aggression/bullying, and less well-developed moral reasoning about aggression, which was, in turn, predicted by higher levels of sensation seeking and hyperactivity (both) and depression and lower ego strength (bully-victim only). For bullying behaviour, there was a direct effect of internalizing behaviour on control. In contrast, attitude and beliefs about aggression and anger control mediated the relations between internalizing/externalizing behaviour and bully-victimization. Implications of this work are discussed, including anti-bullying attitude and belief initiatives.

Methods. Rheumatologists enrolled patients with SSc (aged ≥18 years) and provided data on a panel of diagnostic tests over 3 years. Pulmonary function testing, echocardiography, 6-minute walk distance, N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide assays, high-resolution computed tomography of the lungs, and ventilation/perfusion scan plus right heart catheterisation (RHC; when appropriate) were emphasised. Exclusion criteria included previously documented PAH, interstitial lung disease, and SSc overlapping with other connective tissue disease. Results. Participating rheumatologists enrolled 207 patients with SSc (90% female; 80% white), with a median age of 57 years and median disease duration of 5 years. A total of 82% of patients were classified as New York Heart Association functional class I and II; of these patients, 177 had an echocardiogram at enrolment and 191 at any time during the study. Of those who met study-specified criteria for RHC at enrolment, only 3 of 7 patients underwent RHC. Conclusion. The screening algorithm was successful in identifying patients with mild impairment. Although specific tools were recommended for screening PAH in patients with SSc, results indicate that significant diagnostic care gaps still exist in the general rheumatology community. Better understanding and adherence to guidelines could improve the care and, ideally, outcomes of these high-risk patients.

These core competencies contribute to the success of being a diligent leader within government agencies. These competencies make the difference between opportunity and performance, and promote a positive work environment. Government agencies must make sure they are creating inclusive, diverse, and equitable workplaces.

The networks are trained using 1.36 million synchronized pose+pressure data pairs from 10 subjects performing multiple takes of a 5-minute long choreographed Taiji sequence. Using leave-one-subject-out cross validation, we demonstrate reliable and repeatable foot pressure prediction, setting the first baseline for solving a non-obvious pose to pressure cross-modality mapping problem in computer vision. Furthermore, we compute and quantitatively validate Center of Pressure (CoP) and Base of Support (BoS), two key components for stability analysis, from the predicted foot pressure distributions.

We propose and validate a novel approach to learn dynamics from kinematics of a human body to aid stability analysis. More specifically, we propose an end-to-end deep learning architecture to regress foot pressure from a human pose derived from video. We have collected and utilized a set of long (5min +) choreographed Taiji (Tai Chi) sequences of multiple subjects with synchronized motion capture, foot pressure and video data. The derived human pose data and corresponding foot pressure maps are used jointly in training a convolutional neural network with residual architecture, named "PressNET". Cross-validation results show promising performance of PressNET, significantly outperforming the baseline method under reasonable sensor noise ranges. We also show that the center of pressure locations c...

For instance, how might this disruption influence social and emotional learning (SEL) and affect adverse childhood experiences (ACEs)? Moreover, what protective practices may be put in place to mitigate risks? The purpose of this critical review is to engage with these questions. Relevant research findings published before and during pandemic contexts are presented. Connections between SEL, ACEs and past social disruptions are substantiated in the literature. Additionally, preliminary evidence has elucidated variables associated with ACEs and SEL concerns during the pandemic. For instance, research suggests that students from socially disadvantaged positions may be disproportionately impacted by these issues. Actionable trauma-informed recommendations for educators are discussed, including creating safe school environ...

A unique video and foot pressure data set of 813,050 synchronized pairs, composed of 5-minute long choreographed Taiji movement sequences of 6 subjects, is collected and used for leaving-one-subject-out cross validation. In this sense, through the method of systematic integrative bibliographical revision, we had as specific objectives: a) to identify national and international scientific productions that had the thematic focus the professional orientation of university students with disabilities; b) to analyze the inter-relation between the contents of scientific productions and national official documents (legal diplomas, policies and government programs); and c) to identify and analyze elements that may constitute th...

The spectral behavior of the amplified spontaneous emission (superradiance) in a pencil-shaped column is investigated theoretically and experimentally. Spectral narrowing followed by rebroadening has been observed as predicted by the theory. A geometrical representation of an interacting two-level atomic system has been developed and applied to an optical laser. A semi-classical model for a standing wave laser has been examined using the rotating wave approximation, and compared to the exact solution. Depth and width of the Lamb dip are determined theoretically and experimentally. The effect of radial profile of the laser field has been studied using the self-consistent-field approach, and the radius of the beam was measured at various positions from the window.

Its primary mandate was-and is-twofold: to promote energy security amongst its member countries through collective response to physical disruptions in oil supply, and provide authoritative research and analysis on ways to ensure reliable, affordable and clean energy for its 29 member countries and beyond. The IEA carries out a comprehensive programme of energy cooperation among its member countries, each of which is obliged to hold oil stocks equivalent to 90 days of its net imports. The Agency's aims include the following objectives: n Secure member countries' access to reliable and ample supplies of all forms of energy; in particular, through maintaining effective emergency response capabilities in case of oil supply disruptions. n Promote sustainable energy policies that spur economic growth and environmental protection in a global context-particularly in terms of reducing greenhouse-gas emissions that contribute to climate change. n Improve transparency of international markets through collection and analysis of energy data. n Support global collaboration on energy technology to secure future energy supplies and mitigate their environmental impact, including through improved energy efficiency and development and deployment of low-carbon technologies. n Find solutions to global energy challenges through engagement and dialogue with non-member countries, industry, international organisations and other stakeholders.
