People experience homelessness for a range of reasons. Some people may be fleeing violence, or escaping for a while from people who may be drinking, so choosing to sleep in the river bed might be their safest option.

Human Rights Day is an important time to highlight that that wars create and exacerbate humanitarian crises and the conditions that lead to refugees, which raises critical issues about Australia’s continued involvement in U.S. wars.
