A look at the current affairs of Muslims reveals that Muslims across the globe are struggling wit... more A look at the current affairs of Muslims reveals that Muslims across the globe are struggling with adversity. They struggle to define their roles in societies they are in the minority. They are targeted and inflicted with adversities because they believe in oneness of God. The enemies of Islam have been playing a constant well-planned game to inflict the calamities and catastrophe upon Muslim Ummah. Many Muslims countries are crippled by war. Conflicts are being created deliberately to create tension and uncertainty among people to expel Muslims from their lands. Muslims are being driven out of their homes in Palestine. As per United Nations, at least 1.6 million Palestinians have been internally displaced, with a majority of them staying at UN-run schools. Others are staying with host families or in hospitals. There are an estimated 3.5 million Rohingya dispersed worldwide. People in Gaza are humiliated, abused, and literally killed at the hand of Israel who has engaged in war with unarmed Palestinians. Human rights are blatantly violated. Hospitals are being targeted and deprived of all their resources. There is hardly any place to take shelter. The entire world is maintaining a deafening silence. Public voices are being suppressed. Human rights agencies constantly urging to stop this genocide act, but their call literally fails to receive any attention. The enemies of Islam are testing the patience of Muslims. They are using all the means to create and maintain the narrative in favor of their acts.

With the return of this month each year, a Muslim must practice and develop his understanding of what Ramadan teaches him, which is kindness, tolerance, humanity, and dignity. Fasting from sunrise to sunset represents spiritual cleansing, a struggle to become closer to God, and an attempt to gain a better understanding of human suffering. Fasting mends a Muslim to examine himself, identify his limits, and reform himself ambitiously. It is a month to renew our commitment to our creator, evolver, and fashioner.

One of such rights is to avoid being absent from the family for longer periods of time without a genuine reason. And if there arises a need to be away from the wife, and the husband is compelled to travel in order to complete some tasks, he must ensure that he does not go away from the home except for the period of time which is genuinely required and returns back to his family immediately upon the completion of the work. This was the Prophet's way and that is what the Prophet (SAW) ordered in the Hadeeth recorded in Bukhari and Muslim:

He is not attracted by the empty-headed attitude as being exhibited by modern girls nowadays. Rather, he is attracted by his qualities and sound Islamic personality. He gives the preference to a partner who has the right Islamic characteristics which guarantee a stable and long-lasting married life. Such a true believer does not find any merit in looking for superficial physical beauty, grace and elegance which are highly considered for empty-headed youngsters. A true Muslim does not ignore physical looks; however, he lays the emphasize on strong religious conviction, practice, and sound character, following the advice of the Prophet (SAW).

There has been a lot of talk and discussion to clear the misunderstanding of the role of women. Special emphasis has been given in lectures and books. It is, however, not fair to focus unilaterally on one side and remain silent on the other since both men and women are interdependent. In this article, I intend to redress the balance, to shed light on qualities and attributes desired in men and what constitutes an ideal husband as per Islamic standard. Why it is equally important that a husband must also try to reach the standard of ideal husband as they wish for their wives to reach the standard of an ideal Muslim wife.

So, if we ever expect to put the Ummah back on the right course and regain the glory it lost, we must realize that the key to all this is help our youth in providing right education and accountability-based upbringing for them. Attention must be paid to guide the young people to help choose the right path to be successful in this world and the hereafter.

It is due to this biased mentality towards guidance of Islamic law that women are not finding the courage to end the relationship and thus prefer to suffering in silence. This is absolutely not the goal of Islamic Law pertaining to such issues.
