It is a complex strategic decision problem that concerns the long-term organization of suppliers, production factories, distribution centers, and manufacturing resources, thus an efficient decision support is necessary. This paper proposes a decision support method for the supply network optimization. In this method, the business process of a supply chain is described by the Supply Chain Operations References (SCOR) models firstly. Then the value of business processes in the supply chain is evaluated using the Value Engineering (VE) methodology, wherein the processes are defined by function analysis with quantitative comparison to select key functions. And the concept of quality and robustness of Taguchi method is applied to evaluate the performance of different alternatives which are generated by key functions. A case application of global enterprise is elabora...

This study proposes an integrated model for evaluating airlines’ websites in terms of the perspectives of “marketing mix 4Ps” and “website quality”. In order to verify the practicality and usefulness of this model, an empirical study of the Taiwanese airline industry is offered to illustrate the application of the proposed model. The model first applies the DEMATEL method to cope with the interdependencies between criteria. It then converts the criteria’s cause and effect relations into a visual structural map where the ANP method can help compute the weight of criteria. Finally, it uses the modified VIKOR method to rank e-commerce websites of the five Taiwanese airlines. Overall, the results show that the Taiwanese airlines s...

This study is based on Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM) to examine how consumers' (1) (central routes) degree of cognitive effort are affected by providing product-related information, (2) (peripheral routes) degree of social presence are affected by anthropomorphic interface, and (3) product knowledge influence their trust in RAs. We used PLS to analysis the 302 valid samples, and test or verify the hypotheses. The conclusions are as follows: (1) Explanation facility and information search about products significantly increase customers' trust in RAs. (2) Consumers' degree of cognitive effort and telepresence would increase their decision satisfaction and social presence respectively, further their cognitive trust and emotional trust. (3) The experts and novices have different ways to establish their trust in RAs.

This research tries to evaluate the relationship between ERP continuous investment and technical efficiency by using DEA approach. This study also utilizes the Tobit regression to investigate the relationship between efficiency scores and ERP continuous investment based on the concept of total costing ownership (TCO) for technology assets. The research results show as follows: (1) Maintenance expenses of ERP system whether on line or on the scene, has a favorable impact on company's technical efficiency. (2) Salary expenses of ERP personnel, has a favorable impact on company's technical efficiency. (3) Training expenses of ERP staffs has no significant impact on company's technical efficiency. Demand to provide effective and efficient inter-regional connectivity within the marine transportation framework will be a common agenda in some areas. South Asia Pacific region has a member country of more than 14 countries. With the region’s economic growth of about 5.3 percent, compared to the world average of 3.2 percent, because it is the most safe area compared to other regions (Antara, 2016). Almost 70% of total world trade takes place among countries in Asia Pacific. In this study, we try to focus on comparative analysis of IT support system to support the operation of marine transportation services in 3 countries namely Indonesia, Malaysia and USA. Some port systems in the archipelagic country particularly the South Asia Pacific region have adopted approaches such as the ERP system, but are still partial. Each part of the port management creates its own information system, and links it to every...

In view of this, many companies have implemented the ISO14001 system in their supply chain to comply with green regulations. However, implementing such a system involves technical and communication efforts; hence, an effective method is needed to support the implementation. In this paper, the authors propose a value engineering (VE)-based model with quality tools to support the implementation of the ISO14001 system in the Green Supply Chains. In it, they applied the framework of VE with the quality engineering tools Fishbone Analysis and Failure Mode Effect Analysis for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of green issues in supply chains to cover quality, risk, and value of the system. The proposed method was applied to a global electronics manufacturing company in Taiwan, and the application results showed positiv...

In the proposed model, information technology, value proposition, value study, and team activities were the input factors, and product model change, product function upgrade, and production cost reduction were the output factors. A total of 176 effective enterprise samples collected from five industries were analysed, and the results showed that the use of a value method and information technology had a synergistic effect on the innovation performance of enterprises; however, the synergistic effect on different industry sectors was not identical. Furthermore, the innovation performance of large enterprises was quite similar to that of small and medium-sized enterprises in most industry sectors, except the service and nonprofit industries. The theoretical and practical implications of these results are discussed.

Before international businesses apply FTZs, they need to consider the cargo-flows between their business partners in industrial parks. In this research, we develop an economics evaluation model for the international business using the FTZs. At first, the cargo-flows are analyzed.

The manufacturing of TFT-LCD is a material-driven as well as a capital intensive industry. Its manufacturing process is composed of three successive phases, array, cell and module, and each has different planning characteristics. Therefore, an effective planning of production capacity and material requirement play an important role for the competitive advantage of this industry. In this research, a planning method based on the MRP II framework is developed for the TFT-LCD manufacturing. The developed method focuses on the mid-term planning, based on the MRP II framework, wherein the planning algorithm allocates the fabs capacity for the array phase, and then calculate the material requirement plan for the cell phase. To validate the quality of this method, 62 weeks of real factory data are studied, and the result shows a variation less than 5%.

Customers switch suppliers based on economic evaluation. Other suppliers easily imitate the competitive edge derived from price and cost factors. From social exchange theory and relationship management, psychological factors are important for industrial customer loyalty formation in addition to economical considerations. The comparative importance of psychological and economical considerations in variant context is further explored based on relational exchange theory and relationship development process. Results show that both psychological and economical factors influence customers' loyalty to ASPs, yet affective commitment is more important than continuous commitment. Paying more attention to psychological considerations may be good in B2B relationships. Value-added service and service quality deepen affective commitment in turn promote loyalty. Improving service quality is a necessary criterion for loyalty. Increasing investment size and reducing attractiveness of alternatives enhance continuous commitment. An important finding is that relationship age and frequency moderate the association among continuous commitment, affective commitment and loyalty. In the case of high relationship age/frequency, affective commitment is the major contributor, while continuous commitment primarily contributes to loyalty in the case of low relationship age/frequency. Implications and limitations are discussed.

This technique results in a more holistic result and decision making model for benchmarking the performance of multiple manufacturing sites in a multinational company in Asia .

This study proposes a mathematical programming model to analyze the profitability of a product-mix decision based on the ABC and TOC, with the adoption of new GMTs. Using a numerical example from a metal component parts manufacturer in the automotive industry, the findings of this study provide insight into the value of mathematical programming approaches for GMTs investment and product-mix decision making based on ABC systems while simultaneously improving the value of green manufacturing technology investments.

DeLone and McLean (1992) surveyed 180 articles attempting to measure information systems (IS) success and proposed an analysis framework, composed of six dimensions, for assessing the ERP performance in the post-implementation stage. In this paper, DeLone-&-McLean's framework will be used to develop the ERP performance measures fit for ERP adopters of Taiwan. The implementation variables explored in this paper are ERP implementation statuses (all the planned modules having been implemented or not), ERP system sources (packaged ERP systems or nonpackaged ERP systems), and ERP implementation strategies (integral or step-by-step planning; Big Bang or phased approach). Structured questionnaire were sent to those companies listed in the TOP500 The Largest Corporations in Taiwan 2001. The research findings indicate that the companies using nonpackaged ERP systems, integral planning and having implemented all the planned ERP modules will have the better performance improvement.
