An eight ground water samples were collected from various parts of Kumbakonam region. The physicochemical parameters such as calcium, magnesium, chloride was determined by titration method, sulphate, nitrate, nitrite were analyzed by spectrophotometric method, pH was determined by pH metric method and other parameters were analyzed by Indian standard method. Physicochemical parameter of ground water samples were compared with standard limits recommended by BIS. The comparative study of ground water to this region, all the collected water samples are not suitable for drinking purpose, because in this region ground water samples had excess of manganese, calcium, magnesium and iron content.

The pH was determined by pH metric method, calcium, magnesium, chloride were analyzed by titration method, sulphade, iron, nitrate, nitrite, chromium were estimated by spectrometric method ,total dissolved solids of the water samples were determined by gravimetrically, colour of the water samples were determined by platinum-cobalt method ,taste of the water samples were determined by taste rating method, turbidity of the water samples were determined by Nephelometric method etc., are determined for some parts of Thanjavur district water samples and compared with standard limits recommended by BIS. Comparative study of groundwater for this region can be used for the quality of water is suitable for drinking purpose, but the ground water sample numbers S2, S3, S4, S5, S6, S7 and S9 is not suitable for drinking purpose, because in the presence of excess of hardness (Ca 2+ , Mg 2+), chloride, and TDS.

The water quality parameters like pH, TDS, Calcium, magnesium hardness, alkalinity & some heavy metal are analyzed by Indian standard methods, further the physicochemical parameters of Nagapattinam region groundwater sample are compared with standard limits recommended by BIS. The results showed that all the parameters of ten ground water samples are lying above the limits as per BIS standards, from the results I was confirmed that all the collected groundwater samples are containing harmful substances that cause adverse effect to human being, animals and can't use other purposes.

Ground water sample was collected from Thirubhuvanam village, was analyzed for physicochemical parameters. Activated Phyllanthus emblica wood powder was examined as natural alternative material for ground water treatment. The results were compared with the BIS of drinking water quality guide line. All parameters were reduced with increased dose of activated Phyllanthus emblica wood powder.

The physicochemical parameters such as TDS, EC, Calcium, Magnesium and Total alkalinity have been analyzed using Indian standard methods (IS: 3025) and removal of hardness ( Ca2+, Mg2+) and alkalinity using Eicchornia crassipes carbon for purification of ground water. In present study various dose of Eicchornia crassipes carbon are taken and checked for the efficiency dose on ground water. After treatment of water sample with Eicchornia crassipes carbon were analyzed for different parameters like TDS, Mg2+, Ca2+, Alkalinity, electrical conductivity all parameters were reduced with increased dose of Eicchornia crassipes carbon.

Ten samples of groundwater were collected from Thiruvarur region. The pH was estimated by pH meter. Calcium, magnesium, chloride were analyzed by titration method. Sulphate, iron, nitrate, nitrite, chromium were estimated by spetrophotometric method. Total dissolved solids of the water samples were determined gravimetrically. Color of the water samples was determined by platinum-cobalt method. Taste of the water samples was determined by taste rating method. Turbidity of the water samples was determined by Nephelometric method. Some parts of Thiruvarur region water samples were compared with standard limits recommended by BIS. The comparative study of groundwater for this region, most of the areas is not suitable for drinking purpose.

Certain health problems are associated with people living in hills that are because of the presence of excess of heavy metals and other impurities. The present study is to assess the quality of groundwater in Papanasam and Orathanadu regions of Thanjavur district, Tamilnadu (India) and to check its fitness for drinking eight samples of groundwater were collected from each of the two regions. The pH was estimated by pH meter, Calcium, Magnesium, Chloride can determine by titration method. Sulphate determine by spectrophotometric method, Iron, Aluminium, Nitrite and Nitrate can determine by spectrophotometric method, Total Dissolved Solids can determine by Gravimetric method, Colour of the water sample can determine by Platinum-Cobalt method, Taste of the water sample can determine by taste rating method ,Turbidity of the water sample can determine by Nephlometric method, etc., are determine for different region of Papanasam and Orathanadu areas water sample and compared with standard limits recommended by BIS Drinking water quality guideline. The comparative study of water for this areas can be used for the quality of water is more suitable for drinking purpose.

The physicochemical parameters such as Ca2+, Mg 2+ ,Clwere analyzed by titration method. SO 4 2-, Fe 3+ , Al 3+ , NO 3 -, NO 2 -, Cu 2+ ,Mn 2+ , were estimated by spectrophotometric method. Colour of the water sample determined by platinum-cobalt method. TDS of the water sample determined by gravimetrically,PH was estimated by PH meter. Turbidity was estimated by nephelometric method. Data showed the variation of the investigated physicochemical parameters in sample as follows, TDS of groundwater from Thiruvarur and Nagapattinam region rang between 320mg/l -1830mg/l and 286mg/l -1110mg/l respectively. The Total alkalinity of ground water from Thiruvarur and Nagapattinam region range between 108mg/l -486mg/l and 166mg/l -368mg/l respectively. The concentration of most of the chemical parameters in the drinking water sample from Thiruvarur and Nagapattinam region excess range the permissible limits of the BIS drinking water quality guideline, most of the region water quality was found unsatisfactory for drinking purpose.
