CONSTITUTION: A process for preparing stretched, modified polyester molded products comprises subjecting a thermoplastic polyester in the melt to metathesis by the use of at least one aliphatic or aromatic diisocyanate, molding the resulting modified polyester and stretching the molded product thus obtained. A process for the production of modified polyester moulding material in which a thermoplastic pol... more A process for the production of modified polyester moulding material in which a thermoplastic polyester is reacted in the melt with at least one aliphatic or aromatic diisocyanate, the product obtained is shaped, and the material so obtained is stretched. The polyester moulding materials obtained are characterized by a high resistance to splitting, and are therefore well suited for the production of packaging straps, fibres and foils.

The polymerisation of methyl methacrylate (MMA) by 1,1,2,2‐tetraphenyl‐1,2‐diphenoxyethane is cha... more The polymerisation of methyl methacrylate (MMA) by 1,1,2,2‐tetraphenyl‐1,2‐diphenoxyethane is characterised by three steps: during the initial period oligomers from MMA and initiator radicals are formed by primary radical termination. These oligomers produce free macroradicals and initiator radicals by cleavage at the bonds between the last monomer unit and the end group from the initiator. After consumption of the initiator radicals with increasing conversion the normal propagation and termination processes occur. The kinetics derived from this reaction scheme is in good agreement with the experimental results.
