From these data and the spectral parameters of the complexes it is established that these simple acids coordinate similarly to aminocarboxylic acids forming 1:1 and 1:2 chelate complexes. However, a species with only phosphonate group coordination also exist at low pH. The differences between the complex-forming properties of aminophosphonates and aminocarboxylates are explained by the difference in basicity, charge and size of the-PO32-and-COO-groups.

As-drawn CNT fibers exist as aerogel and can be transformed into more compact fibers through twisting or densification with a volatile organic liquid. CNT fibers are characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Raman microscopy, and wideangle X-ray diffraction. Mechanical properties and electrical conductivity of the post-treated CNT fibers are investigated. The resulting fibers show the work of rupture of 30 J/g and DC electrical conductivity of 5.0 9 10 4 S/m.

The stoichiometries and stability constants of the proton, cobalt(U), nickel(II), copper(I1) and ... more The stoichiometries and stability constants of the proton, cobalt(U), nickel(II), copper(I1) and zinc(I1) complexes of 1-aminoethanephosphonic acid ((u-Ala-P), 2-aminoethanephosphonic acid @-Ala-P), 1-amino-2-phenylethanephosphonic acid (Phe-P) and 1-amino-2{4-hydroxyphenyl)ethanephosphonic acid (Tyr-P) have been determined pH-metrically at 25 "C and at an ionic strength of 0.2 mol dmm3 (KCl). From these data and the spectral parameters of the complexes it has been established that these simple aminophosphonic acids coordinate similarly to aminocarboxylic acids, forming chelate complexes MA and MA*. However an MAH species with only phosphonate group coordination also exist at low pH. The differences between the complex-forming properties of aminophosphonates and aminocarboxylates have been explained by the differences in basicity, charge and size of the-P03*-and-COOgroups.

The combination of scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) with single-bounce attenuated total... more The combination of scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) with single-bounce attenuated total reflection Fourier-transformed infrared spectroscopy (IR-ATR) has been developed for in-situ studies on electrochemically induced processes at IR waveguide surfaces via evanescent field absorption spectroscopy. The feasibility of the combined microelectrochemical FT-IR setup was demonstrated by spectroscopically monitoring microstructured polymer depositions induced via feedback mode SECM using a 25 μm Pt disk ultramicroelectrode (UME). The surface of a ZnSe ATR crystal was initially coated with 2,5di-(2-thienyl)-pyrrole (SNS) layer, which was then locally polymerized during Ru(bpy) 3 2+ mediated feedback mode SECM experiments. The polymerization reaction was simultaneously monitored by recording absorption intensity changes of SNS specific IR bands, thereby providing information on the polymerization mechanism, and on the percentage of surface modification.
