Assume that all subgroups of order p d , and all cyclic group of order 4 when p d = 2 and P is nonabelian, are partial CAP-subgroups of G. We show that G/O p ,p (G) is supersolvable.

So, the notation, definitions, and references are those of that paper. If M is maximal subgroup of a finite group G and H/K is a chief factor of G supplemented by M we cannot say in general that H £ I (M). For example, if G is the dihedral group of order 30, M a maximal subgroup of G isomorphic to Sym(3), and H = Soc(G), we have that H <¿ I(M) since k(H) = H.

This allows to give a character-free proof of a theorem due to Isaacs and Navarro (see [9, Theorem B]). As an application, the authors show a common extension of the p-nilpotence criteria proved in [3] and [9].

The influence of the cyclic subgroups of order p or 4 of the focal subgroup of a saturated fusion... more The influence of the cyclic subgroups of order p or 4 of the focal subgroup of a saturated fusion system F over a p-group S is investigated in this paper. Some criteria for normality of S in F as well as necessary and sufficient conditions for nilpotency of F are given. The resistance of a p-group in which every cyclic subgroup of order p or 4 is normal, and earlier results about p-nilpotence of finite groups and nilpotency of saturated fusion systems are consequences of our study.

The paper studies the saturation of two different formations: 1) the formation Z F N , of all groups G such that if F is a N-chief factor of G covered by an F-projector of G, then F is an F-central chief factor of G (where N is a class of simple groups containing the class of the abelian simple groups); 2) the formation H↓F, of all groups whose H-projectors belong to F (where H is a saturated formation and F is a formation).

Let π be a set of prime numbers and G a finite π-soluble group. Consider U,V≤G and H∈Hall π (G) such that H∩V∈Hall π (V) and 1≠H∩U∈Hall π (U). Suppose also that H∩U is a Hall π-subgroup of some S-permutable subgroup of G. Then H∩U∩V∈Hall π (U∩V) and 〈H∩U,H∩V〉∈Hall π (〈U,V〉). Therefore, the set of all S-permutably embedded subgroups of a soluble group G into which a given Hall system Σ reduces is a sublattice of the lattice of all Σ-permutable subgroups of G. Moreover any two subgroups of this sublattice of coprime orders permute.

As an application we obtain some sufficient conditions for a triple factorized group by supersoluble subgroups of pairwise relatively prime indices to be supersoluble. Many results appear as consequences of our analysis.

Alternative proofs and improvements of recent results about the influence of minimal p-subgroups on the p-nilpotence and p-length of a finite group arise as consequences of our study.
