Footwear industries generate leather waste during the operation. Some of these wastes contain chr... more Footwear industries generate leather waste during the operation. Some of these wastes contain chromium, which may bring environmental concerns. This study aimed to reuse finished leather waste, the major part of these hazardous wastes, via producing a composite with thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) for shoe soles. Finished leather waste containing black dyes and pigments was used to color the TPU. The finished leather waste was fragmented, milled, micronized and blended with TPU in a ratio of 10%, 15%, and 20% w/w to produce composite materials. The composite materials were evaluated by morphological and thermal characterizations, physical-mechanical analysis, and environmental tests (leaching and solubilization), which presented that the physical-mechanical and thermal properties were within the standard of shoe soles, and the composites can be classified as non-hazardous. The composites enabled a new way of coloring polymeric matrices and reusing leather waste.

Como consequencia, as empresas que prestam este servico precisam se organizar para atender o aumento desta demanda e oferecer atendimento com qualidade, alem de ofertar servicos inovadores e diferenciados. Estas organizacoes visam manter a fidelizacao dos clientes atuais e prospectar novos. No intuito de mensurar o cenario atual, um mapeamento estrategico utilizando o Balanced Scorecard ( BSC ) orienta a aplicacao de metodos de avaliacoes de desempenho. O objetivo principal desse artigo e analisar o desempenho do atendimento aos clientes de uma empresa prestadora de servicos de medicina do trabalho no Vale dos Sinos – RS, propondo melhorias aos processos. A partir da utilizacao do procedimento de Estudo de Caso, apoiado pela aplicacao de um levantamento (tipo survey) , verificou-se as condicoes atuais deste processo e sugeriu-se a utilizacao do BSC como integrador das estrategias necessarias na empresa estudada, buscando estabelecer metodos quantitativos para mensurar os resultados atuais e auxiliar na criacao de medidas de melhorias no atendimento ao cliente, visando o crescimento da organizacao.

Entre estes estão os têxteis de algodão e de poliéster. O trabalho teve como objetivo a utilização dos resíduos têxteis de algodão e de poliéster no desenvolvimento de compósitos a base de estireno-butadieno-estireno (SBS) com potencial aplicação na preparação de componentes para calçados. Assim, os resíduos foram processados em moinho de facas e foram incorporados na formulação base em diferentes percentuais em extrusora monorosca. As amostras foram caracterizadas por microscopia óptica, microscopia eletrônica de varredura, reometria de torque e ensaio de desgaste. A caracterização morfológica revelou, fibras em forma de feixes e fibras soltas com orientação aleatória, além do recobrimento das fibras têxteis. A reometria evidenciou aumento da viscosidade dos compósitos em função do teor de têxtil. O ensaio de resistência ao desgaste por abrasão diminuiu com o incremento dos resíduos dentro dos limites para utilização na construção do calçado. Os resultados mostram potencial técnico na preparação dos compósitos e uma alternativa promissora na produção de componentes do próprio setor gerador do resíduo.

More and more electronic devices are being produced and most of them are disposed of improperly. ... more More and more electronic devices are being produced and most of them are disposed of improperly. In addition, as they contain heavy metals and toxic substances in their composition, the environmental impact increases. This work aims to study the recycling of polymers present in e-waste through the mechanical characterization of polymer blends produced with the main polymers present in printers. To do so, printers were dismounted, the material of the components was classified, and the main polymers were processed. The sample consisted of 20 printers, from which HIPS-90%/PS-10%, HIPS-90%/ ABS-10% and HIPS-100%, blends were processed by extrusion and injection of specimens with tensile test geometry. The tensile strength was 39.0 MPa for HIPS/ABS, and 37.5 MPa for HIPS/PS. Despite having slightly different mechanical properties, probably due to possible variations in their chemical composition, the formulations have good quality and potential for use in new products such as hangers, organizing boxes, soles and, watering cans.

The production of footwear generates various residues, such as cotton fabric flaps and rubber chi... more The production of footwear generates various residues, such as cotton fabric flaps and rubber chips, which are materials that have characteristics that make it difficult to recycle. Thus, the objective of this study is the mechanical recycling of these residues, obtaining blends of these residues with Capro-PU and EVA. They are processed mechanically by comminution, extrusion and pelletizing, obtaining chemically analyzed materials and subsequently submitted to the injection and lamination processes in order to observe the characteristics in the form of industrialized products. The materials were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and CO release rate evaluation. The recycled materials were subjected to the lamination and injection processes where they were evaluated according to characteristic tests for the production of assembly insoles. By the TGA, it was possible to verify that the blends had a greater thermal stability when compared to the pure consumables. Regarding the mechanical tests, all blends were within the limits established by the PFI and showed values of CO 2 release rate higher than the values of the test only with the fabric, since this is a biodegradable material. Thus, it is observed that the present study is a breakthrough for materials processing technology, creating new products with suitable characteristics for manufacturing processes and presenting microbiological degradation capacity, when discarded in soil.

Abstract Materials such as river sand, used in construction, have a high demand, and thus generat... more Abstract Materials such as river sand, used in construction, have a high demand, and thus generate great environmental impacts while being extracted, such as erosion of the rivers banks and your siltation. With the increasing restriction of river sand extraction which can generate a reduction in the product's offer in the civil construction sector, it is necessary to develop waste recycling technologies for the production of sands with less environmental impact. One of the alternatives for the production of mortar for construction is the replacement of sands extracted from rivers by waste from other industries, such as the electronics industry that presents large and growing production worldwide, due to technological advances. Thus, this work aims to evaluate the influence of partial replacement of quartz sand by lightweight aggregate based non-metallic fraction of printed circuit boards (NMFPCB's) on the properties of cementitious matrix in the fresh and hardened states. For this, the electronic components of the printed circuit boards (PCBs) were removed, they were grinded and then through magnetic and electrostatic separation processes to separate the most valuable and abundant part of metals. The water to cement ratio was 0.48 in all the experiments, the Portland cement to sand ratio was 1:3 (in mass) for the control, and the mortars with NMFPCB's replacement of sand by volume of 25% and 50% were also made. These were characterized mechanically by axial compressive strength test at different ages. The partial results showed that with the increase of sand substitution by NMFPCB's there was a reduction of the mortar consistency index in the fresh state. Results showed that matrix that suffered the substitution of sand by light aggregate, decreased the compressive strength in relation to the reference, but have potential to use in construction industry as blocks or non-structural elements.

The objective of this study is to analyze the feasibility of HIPS blends recycling with other main polymers present in printers, through the analysis of the influence of pressure and speed parameters of injection to subsequently perform tensile tests for mechanical characterization. For this purpose, post-consumption polymers from disassembled printers were separated for analysis and comparison of HIPS-90%/PS-10% blend with HIPS-100%, which were injected into a mold with geometry of test specimens for tensile test, complying with ASTM standard D638-14, employing variations in pressure and speed and maintaining constant temperature.
