The paper introduces a new protection system for railway electric equipment (transformers, feeder... more The paper introduces a new protection system for railway electric equipment (transformers, feeders and contact line) based on fuzzy logic. The fuzzy logic relay analyses the operating regime for the equipment and eliminates the abnormal work situations which generate failures. The system it has been hardware implemented using a digital signal processor TMS320F2812 and tested in working situations.

In this paper is analyzing the current operating conditions of one of electric arc furnace (EAF) ... more In this paper is analyzing the current operating conditions of one of electric arc furnace (EAF) in order to evaluate the best option to solve the energy consumption problem. Also we evaluate existing process' equipment performance and point to improvement opportunities. Recommendations for the best operating set-points to run its EAF efficiently are presented. For compensating the reactive energy and increasing the power factor are presented three solutions. By the proposed automation solutions of the auxiliary installations is obtained a substantial reduction of the energy consumption and the defects of mechanical nature. The SVC compensation solution of the reactive energy is the best one, but has also the highest costs.

This paper presents an experimental investigation and modeling solutions of an electric arc furna... more This paper presents an experimental investigation and modeling solutions of an electric arc furnace (EAF) with 100-t capacity used for steel melting in order to evaluate the best option for improvement. Experimental results show that EAFs represent a substantial source of electric disturbances such as voltage fluctuations, flicker, harmonics, and imbalance between phases. Improvement of the energetic performances of an EAF imposes a careful technical and economical analysis. The static voltampere reactive compensator solution is the best one for compensating the reactive energy and increasing the power factor but has the highest costs. Also, we evaluate existing processes' equipment performance, the point of improvement opportunities for the best operating efficiency. Substantial reductions in the energy consumption and in the defects of mechanical nature are obtained by the proposed automation solution of the auxiliary installations.

In this work is presenting a reactive homo-heteropolar brushless synchronous machine (RHHBSM), wi... more In this work is presenting a reactive homo-heteropolar brushless synchronous machine (RHHBSM), with stator excitation destined to operate as low power generator in hydroelectric, or wind power stations, or as servomotor with reduced inertia. We proposed in this paper a modeling and a simulation method by electric-magnetic coupled network, based on the permeance network, 3D analysis with a specialized software and the machine's orthogonal model. One prototype machine has been studied. Within this paper, we make a comparison between the results obtained by modeling with the magnetic equivalent circuits, finite element method and experimental results.

Applications of flux reversal machine can be found both for linear and radial flux machines. For ... more Applications of flux reversal machine can be found both for linear and radial flux machines. For axial flux machines, only one application is reported considering a two phase machine. In general, flux reversal effect can produce higher back electromotive forces than other topologies for the less amount of permanent magnets and thus can increase the performance of the machine. Combining the axial structure with the flux reversal effect feature allows higher power density machines suitable for high speed or low speed direct drive applications. Proposed model has a 12-slot stator and a 16-pole variable reluctance rotor. Nd-Fe-B magnets are fixed on the surface of the pole of the stator. The objective of this article is to present an effective method for the design and performance prediction for the axial flux reversal configuration. Basic dimension equations are presented and a two-dimensional equivalent model based on finite element analysis is used for the reduction of the simulation time.

There are in work several project concerning the arrangement of several water flows (Jiu, Strei, Bistrita, Mures). This will increase the overall percent up to 70 % in 2020. However it remains an important percent of usable potential which can be integrated by technology upgrade or building of new power plants. The asynchronous generator is a more efficient solution for small installed power and especially where the electric consumers are single phase and the electrical grid is isolated from the main grid.

This research focuses on the transformer losses under nonlinear loads with a sinusoidal supply voltage. A practical approach is proposed which allows for the observation of harmonics. The total harmonic distortion and losses were analyzed and shown. Moreover, the relationship between transformer losses and harmonics are reported.
