Many studies show that the incidence is increasing day by day. Anemia in pregnant women poses a grave danger to the physical and mental health of the growing fetus. Patients and Methods: A sample size of four hundred pregnant females was taken and interviewed. The study was conducted in the public-sector hospital of Quetta. Demographic data was collected on the specially designed Performa and the blood sample was taken for the estimation of hemoglobin levels and ferritin levels. Data was analyzed on SPSS 11. Results: In our study, we found that 96% of pregnant females had anemia of varying severity, the majority being moderately anemic. Analysis of demographics showed that anemia was more prevalent in younger (mean age was 32.5 years)...

Data were extracted from the cancer registry department of the institute. Demographics studied were the age at diagnosis, gender, pregnancy or lactation association, family history of breast cancer, histopathological diagnosis, and stage of the disease, receptors, type of treatment, response, local recurrence, distant relapse, and survival. Results: A total of 121 patients with age 30 years or less were included. An only a single patient was male. The age range was from 20 to 30 years; bilateral involvement was seen in a single patient. Almost half 50.4% (n = 61) patients had locally advanced disease at presentation. Pregnancy/lactation-associated breast cancer was seen in 29.8% (n = 36). The most common stag...

We excluded all the patients who presented with invasive ductal carcinoma or other rare breast tumours. Each patient with mucinous carcinoma breast was categorised in terms of diagnosis, surgery, chemotherapy and outcome. For categorical variables, Chi-square test was used. Kaplan–Meier curves were used to determine estimated overall survival. Data analysis was carried out using the SPSS 20.Results: In total, 8841 patients with breast carcinoma presented during the study period. Of these, 74 patients were diagnosed as cases of MBC, constituting <1%. Family history of breast carcinoma was positive in 20% of p...

Methodology: A comparison of patients undergoing surgery for early breast cancer before and after the implementation of the new guidelines was done. We adopted the new guidelines in April 2015. Patients meeting Z0011 inclusion criteria were identified. For group A (Pre Z0011) patients operated between Jan to Dec 2013 were studied. And for Group B (Post Z0011) patients operated between July 2014 to Jun 2015 were included. Clinicopathologic data were compared between the two groups. Results: There were 318 patients with clinical T1-2 tumors planned for breast conservation. 68% patients had T1 tumor and 32% had T2. 92% of the patients had IDCa. There were 150 patients in the pre-Z0011 group and 168 post-Z0011. 68% of the patients in Group A were ER+ve while 70% in group B. 38 (25.7 %) patients were sentinel lymph node (SLN) positive in the pre-Z0011 group versus 34 (21 %) post-Z0011 (p = 0....

The timing to do the SLNBx before or after Neo Adj Chemo (NAC) is controversial. The aim of the study is to see the outcomes of SLNBX in our patients who underwent NAC in clinically and radiological negative axilla. Methods: Retrospective analysis of all patients from 2009–2013 were included with clinically and radiologically node negative axilla, requiring NAC to downstage their breast disease. Patient’s data was retrieved via hospital information System. Patient’s record was followed up for three years to see for axillary recurrence Data was analyzed on SPSS V 19. Results: A total of 560 patients were selected for the study and 34 were excluded so a total of 523 patients data was analyzed. All patients underwent SLNBX and 64.4% (334) were found to be negative on staging whereas only 35.5% (187) were found to be negative. All patients w...
