On the issue of the chronology of the Ilinskija cemetery in the town of Bialynichy (based on materials from archaeological research in 2019-2020), 2023

The area of archaeological research was 138 m2, of which 124 m2 is the main trench, which was confined to the central, most elevated part of the hill.
As a result of the work carried out, the information about the presence of a city cemetery at this place was confirmed. In the main trench, 138 objects were recorded, which are represented by grave pits, individual damaged skeletons and bones found in redeposited form.
Based on the analysis of archaeological artifacts (coins, details of the clothes of the buried and a fragment of a pectoral cross) found directly in the graves (Nos. 10, 46, 87, 90) and in the space between them, as well as the results of a planigraphic analysis of individual burials, it can be concluded that the cemetery operated for quite a long time. The most ancient burials recorded during excavations were probably carried out at the turn of the 16th-17th centuries (Nos. 92, 96, 99), which follows from their stratigraphic position. The most chronologically latest burial, dated by elements of clothing and jewelry, refers to the 1870s. (No. 46).

This category of items is held by a number of central and regional museums in Belarus, as well as in private collections. Such ‘dispersion’ of the items makes their study problematic. Until now, no comprehensive study of antler artefacts with drilled holes from gravel pits located in Smarhon has been conducted. Publications have so far considered only the specimens that are most representative from the point of view of comparative typology. Michal Chernyavskiy and Piotr Kalinovskiy invariably associated tools with drilled holes with the Mesolithic period. However, this group of tools is more diverse and chronologically complicated than previously thought. The authors of the present article propose a new typological scheme for this item category which is part of a pan-European cultural and chronolog...

The adoption of pottery technology by hunter–gatherers in Northern and Eastern Europe does not fit this paradigm, and its role within these communities is so far unresolved. To investigate the motivations for hunter–gatherer pottery use, here, we present the systematic analysis of the contents of 528 early vessels from the Baltic Sea region, mostly dating to the late 6th–5th millennium cal BC, using molecular and isotopic characterization techniques. The results demonstrate clear sub-regional trends in the use of ceramics by hunter–gatherers; aquatic resources in the Eastern Baltic, non-ruminant animal fats in the Southeastern Baltic, and a more variable use, including ruminant animal products, in the Western Baltic, potentially including dairy. We found surprisingly little evidence for the use of ceramics for non-culinary activities, ...

During the archaeological work was discovered one new (Adyn 1) and examined two known sites to the Stone and Bronze Ages (Sosnovka 3, Osovets 4). Archaeological material from the last two sites is similar to the Neolithic material of lower parts of Prypiac and Berezina rivers, Dnieper river basin in its Magilev and Rogachev parts and belong to the eastern Palessie variant of the Dnieper-Donets culture.

The author identifies the main types of ceramics, describes them in detail, correlates these types with the stages of ceramics of the verhnedneprovskaya archeological culture in this region and determines the influence of other cultures. Based on the analysis several traditions in the production of vessels were identified previously. Each of them reflects the cultural situation in Eastern Belarus in Neolithic.
