In responding to the federal Every Student Succeeds Act, which requires every state's accountabil... more In responding to the federal Every Student Succeeds Act, which requires every state's accountability plan to add a non-academic school performance indicator, this study proposes that using total days of missed instruction per 100 students enrolled due to disciplinary issues is an ideal indicator to understand school overall performances. We used Massachusetts' public available data to demonstrate detailed calculations of days of missed instruction per 100 students due to disciplinary issues and connect the results to school performances in Massachusetts.
