Visual communication allows promoting territories to rediscover urban contexts. The stratificatio... more Visual communication allows promoting territories to rediscover urban contexts. The stratification and hybridization of cultures, societies, and palimpsests, can be highlighted by visual paths, which offer possible keys of interpretation. The article suggests two visual paths created during a CIVIS Summer School to read the Esquiline neighbourhood in Rome, a crossroads of cultures and transformations. The results allow evaluating critically the visual description of complex urban contexts.
