This study aims to determine the effect of STEM-based guided inquiry (STEM-BGI) on light concept ... more This study aims to determine the effect of STEM-based guided inquiry (STEM-BGI) on light concept understanding and scientific explanation. The design of this research is a quasiexperimental pre-test-post-test control group design. The difference in effect between STEM-BGI and guided inquiry design (GID) is analyzed using the one-way MANOVA. The impact of the STEM-BGI on light concept understanding and scientific explanation is analyzed using effect size. The correlation between conceptual understanding and scientific explanation is tested by bivariate correlation analysis. The result of this study indicates that the STEM-BGI learning model is more effective in enhancing light concept understanding than the GID with an effect size coefficient of 0.81 in the high category. The STEM-BGI learning model is more effective in enhancing scientific explanation than the GID with an effect size coefficient of 0.78 in the medium category. There is a positive correlation between understanding the concept and scientific explanation. Mastery concepts and scientific explanations can help students to solve more complex problems using multidisciplinary STEM.

Bertujuan untuk menghasilkan media video animasi penuntun eksperimen yang valid dan layak untuk dijadikan sebagai media pembelajaran di kelas. Jenis penelitian adalah Research and Development dengan menggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Data kuantitatif berupa nilai validitas dari video animasi penuntun eksperimen dan data kualitatif didapat dari komentar dan saran para tim validator. Instrumen pengumpulan data yang digunakan berupa lembar validasi video animasi. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif untuk mengetahui validitas dari video animasi penuntun eksperimen dengan menggunakan formula Aiken’s V. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui profil miskonsepsi siswa pada materi kinematika gerak lurus di SMA Negeri 4 Wira Bangsa Meulaboh. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan subyek 48 siswa/i kelas X MIA SMA Negeri 4 Wira Bangsa Meulaboh. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes pilihan ganda yang mencantumkan indeks CRI (Certainty of Response Index) dan alasan responden. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan persentase jumlah siswa yang mengalami Paham Konsep adalah 21,35%, Paham Konsep tetapi Kurang Yakin sebanyak 2,19%, Miskonsepsi sebanyak 34,17%, dan Tidak Tahu Konsep sebanyak 42,29%. The initial research showed that in general, the problem solving skills and students' metacogniti... more The initial research showed that in general, the problem solving skills and students' metacognition in several secondary high schools in Samarinda such as SMAN 8, Kunjang, SMAN 14 Loa Bakung, SMAN 3 Ulu, and SMAN 10 Seberang are still low. Therefore, the researcher intend to develop physics metacognition learning model to improve problem solving skills and students' metacognition. This study aims to develop physics metacognition learning model to increase problem solving skills and students' metacognition. The data collection method used Focus Group Discussion (FGD. The validity of the model was evaluated based on content and construct validity. Validation result by expert showed that physics metacognition learning model and the learning devices can be categorized as valid. The physics metacognition learning model can be implemented in physics to increase problem solving skill and students' metacognition.

Pemanfaatan Teknologi Informasi dapat memberikan implikasi kinerja yang lebih baik pada teknologi Informasi. Untuk sebagian besar institusi, informasi dan teknologi yang mendukung kegiatan perguruan merupakan aset yang berharga. Perguruan tinggi yang sukses biasanya memahami keuntungan dan kegunaan dari teknologi informasi untuk mendukung kinerja Perguruan tinggi. Unified Tehory Of Acceptance And Use Of The Technolgy (UTAUT) Model merupakan salah satu model penerimaan Teknologi Informasi. Implementasi suatu suatu teknologi Informasi selalu berhubungan dengan penerimaan pengguna. Sejauh mana pengguna dapat menerima dan memahami teknologi tersebut adalah hal penting untuk dapat menegtahui tingkat keberhasilan dari implementasi tersebut. Penerimaan pengguna atau lebih dikenal dengan nama user acceptance merupakan faktor penting yang mempengaruhi keberhasilan implementasi dari suatu teknologi. Hasil Penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa secara simultan maupun secara parsial terdapat hubungan yang signifikan dan positif antara variabel performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, behavioral intention dan use behavior terhadap variabel Penerimaan Teknologi. Sedangkan dari hasil analisis Regresi diperoleh fakta bahwa kontribusi ketiga variabel tersebut adalah 58,9 % terhadap penerimaan Teknologi Informasi.

The boom in industrial sector has lead to many problems and child labor is no exception. This stu... more The boom in industrial sector has lead to many problems and child labor is no exception. This study explores the linkages between trade liberalization and child labor both in short and long-run. The results suggest that GDP per capita and income inequality increase the child labor in the long-run but these results disappear in short-run. The study also finds that income inequality has positive and significant impact on child labor. Our findings also support that trade openness along with trade sanctions (imposed by the developed countries) are associated with the reduction in child labor in Pakistan.

A study was conducted to evaluate the effect of frozen storage (-18 ˚C) on the chemical and senso... more A study was conducted to evaluate the effect of frozen storage (-18 ˚C) on the chemical and sensory quality of wild and farmed fish flesh (Labeo rohita). Ten fish with an average weight of about 700-1000 g were collected each from Head Balloki (wild) and University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Pattoki Fish Farm. Fish fillets were prepared and studied for chemical composition and sensory attributes at 1 st , 15 th and 30 th day of frozen storage. The design of the experiment was completely randomized and the significance was assessed through two way (site & study duration) ANOVA technique. Farmed fish was found significantly higher (P ≤ 0.05) in dry matter (92.52%) than wild fish (90.51%). Ash contents were found (7.34%) in wild fish and (7.04%) in farmed fish. Ash contents were significantly higher on the first day followed by 15 th day and 30 th day. The crude fat contents of fish on 30 th day were significantly higher than 1 st and 15 th days. Crude protein contents of wild fish was (80.29%) and (79.93%) in farmed fish. A non-significant difference (P ≥ 0.05) among farmed and wild fish was observed. The storage intervals significantly affect protein contents on 15 th and 30 th day. In case of sensory attributes, colour, flavor, tenderness and overall quality of farmed fish was observed significantly higher compared to wild fish. Storage intervals also significantly affect the sensory attributes such as colour, flavor, juiciness, tenderness, oiliness and overall quality. These attributes were found significantly higher up to 15 th days than 30 th day of storage which deteriorates the product sensory attributes and overall quality. In conclusion, it has been observed that wild fish was richer in fat contents than farm fish and the storage intervals significantly affect/deteriorate the product quality after keeping more than 15 th days at-18 ˚C. However, the effects of frozen storage on chemical and sensory quality changes need further long term investigation.
Study was conducted to evaluate the survival and growth potential of genetically male tilapia (GM... more Study was conducted to evaluate the survival and growth potential of genetically male tilapia (GMT) in flow through system under different dietary protein concentrations. The fish was kept in cemented rectangular tanks @ 59 fish fry/ tank in mixed sex (XX/XY) culture system and 27 fish fry/tank in mono sex culture(super males YY). Each treatment group in mixed sex had two replicates while mono sex had one replicate. Artificial feeds containing 30%, 35% and 40% crude protein were applied at 4% fish wet body weight twice a day to mixed sex while 35% and 40% to super males. The results of mixed sex were analyzed using one way ANOVA while mono sex was compared by using t-test. Results of mixed sex indicated significantly higher (P > 0.05) final body weight, net weight gain, percent weight gain in 40% compared to 30% and 35% feeds. Feed conversion ratio (FCR) and specific growth rate (SGR %) were 1.21 and 4.83, respectively for 30%, and 1.24 and 3.59, respectively for 35% feeds and were significantly different compared to 1.33 and 3.23, respectively, for 40% feed in mixed-sex culture. The survival rate was 43% in 30%, 83% in 35% and 68% in 40% feeds for mixed sex. In the case of mono-sex culture (YY), results indicated significantly higher (P > 0.05) values with 40% feed for final body weight, net weight gain, percent weight gain and SGR compared to that of 35% feed. The FCR values in 40% feed (3.65) was significantly different from that of 35% feed (4.74). Survival rate of YY was 100% in 35%, while 81% in 40% feed. In conclusion mono sex (YY) GMT fry outperformed than mixed sex under both treatments of 35% and 40% crude protein in flow through system.

Therefore, prognostic markers that may reliably predict probability of lymph node (LN) metastases are of great value. This study was conducted to compare the predictive value of two novel prognostic / proliferative markers i.e. S-phase fraction (SPF) and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) in parallel with mitotic index. Data of consecutive cases of infiltrating ductal carcinoma (IDC) breast diagnosed from July 2003 to July 2004 at the section of the Histopathology, The Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, were reviewed. Atotal of 112 cases of infiltrating ductal carcinoma (IDC) of the breast with axillary LN sampling were selected. It has been deposited on the composite specimens for real-time, in situ monitoring of structural health. The strain response of the smart sensing layer has been recorded for composite laminates using different defect configurations (notch spacing). Numerical simulations of the stress–strain concentration have been carried out in order to determine the state of strain at the smart sensing layer, in the presence of different notch configurations. It has been observed that the sensing layer detects well the presence of large deformations and damage due to defects in the structure, with clearly defined peaks at the points of structural damage.

In the present study, we deal with the momentum and heat transfer analysis in a horizontal annulu... more In the present study, we deal with the momentum and heat transfer analysis in a horizontal annulus of a composite porous medium. The Darcy-Brinkman model is used to develop the governing equations for the flow and heat transfer phenomenon. The annulus injects the time dependent oscillatory velocity normal to its surface. Both the regions of the flow have their own viscosities, and the heat transfer analysis is carried out by retaining viscous dissipation. The governing equations for flow and heat transfer are solved analytically using a perturbation series for solutions in both regions of the annulus. A brief parametric analysis is performed for the velocity and the temperature profiles through graphs.

Pemanfaatan Teknologi Informasi dapat memberikan implikasi kinerja yang lebih baik pada teknologi Informasi. Untuk sebagian besar institusi, informasi dan teknologi yang mendukung kegiatan perguruan merupakan aset yang berharga. Perguruan tinggi yang sukses biasanya memahami keuntungan dan kegunaan dari teknologi informasi untuk mendukung kinerja Perguruan tinggi. Unified Tehory Of Acceptance And Use Of The Technolgy (UTAUT) Model merupakan salah satu model penerimaan Teknologi Informasi. Implementasi suatu suatu teknologi Informasi selalu berhubungan dengan penerimaan pengguna. Sejauh mana pengguna dapat menerima dan memahami teknologi tersebut adalah hal penting untuk dapat menegtahui tingkat keberhasilan dari implementasi tersebut. Penerimaan pengguna atau lebih dikenal dengan nama user acceptance merupakan faktor penting yang mempengaruhi keberhasilan implementasi dari suatu teknologi. Hasil Penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa secara simultan maupun secara parsial terdapat hubungan yang signifikan dan positif antara variabel performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, behavioral intention dan use behavior terhadap variabel Penerimaan Teknologi. Sedangkan dari hasil analisis Regresi diperoleh fakta bahwa kontribusi ketiga variabel tersebut adalah 58,9 % terhadap penerimaan Teknologi Informasi.

This study explores the linkages between trade liberalization and child labor both in short and long-run. The results suggest that GDP per capita and income inequality increase the child labor in the long-run but these results disappear in short-run. The study also finds that income inequality has positive and significant impact on child labor. Our findings also support that trade openness along with trade sanctions (imposed by the developed countries) are associated with the reduction in child labor in Pakistan.

A study was conducted to evaluate the effect of frozen storage (-18 ˚C) on the chemical and senso... more A study was conducted to evaluate the effect of frozen storage (-18 ˚C) on the chemical and sensory quality of wild and farmed fish flesh (Labeo rohita). Ten fish with an average weight of about 700-1000 g were collected each from Head Balloki (wild) and University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Pattoki Fish Farm. Fish fillets were prepared and studied for chemical composition and sensory attributes at 1 st , 15 th and 30 th day of frozen storage. The design of the experiment was completely randomized and the significance was assessed through two way (site & study duration) ANOVA technique. Farmed fish was found significantly higher (P ≤ 0.05) in dry matter (92.52%) than wild fish (90.51%). Ash contents were found (7.34%) in wild fish and (7.04%) in farmed fish. Ash contents were significantly higher on the first day followed by 15 th day and 30 th day. The crude fat contents of fish on 30 th day were significantly higher than 1 st and 15 th days. Crude protein contents of wild fish was (80.29%) and (79.93%) in farmed fish. A non-significant difference (P ≥ 0.05) among farmed and wild fish was observed. The storage intervals significantly affect protein contents on 15 th and 30 th day. In case of sensory attributes, colour, flavor, tenderness and overall quality of farmed fish was observed significantly higher compared to wild fish. Storage intervals also significantly affect the sensory attributes such as colour, flavor, juiciness, tenderness, oiliness and overall quality. These attributes were found significantly higher up to 15 th days than 30 th day of storage which deteriorates the product sensory attributes and overall quality. In conclusion, it has been observed that wild fish was richer in fat contents than farm fish and the storage intervals significantly affect/deteriorate the product quality after keeping more than 15 th days at-18 ˚C. However, the effects of frozen storage on chemical and sensory quality changes need further long term investigation.
Study was conducted to evaluate the survival and growth potential of genetically male tilapia (GM... more Study was conducted to evaluate the survival and growth potential of genetically male tilapia (GMT) in flow through system under different dietary protein concentrations. The fish was kept in cemented rectangular tanks @ 59 fish fry/ tank in mixed sex (XX/XY) culture system and 27 fish fry/tank in mono sex culture(super males YY). Each treatment group in mixed sex had two replicates while mono sex had one replicate. Artificial feeds containing 30%, 35% and 40% crude protein were applied at 4% fish wet body weight twice a day to mixed sex while 35% and 40% to super males. The results of mixed sex were analyzed using one way ANOVA while mono sex was compared by using t-test. Results of mixed sex indicated significantly higher (P > 0.05) final body weight, net weight gain, percent weight gain in 40% compared to 30% and 35% feeds. Feed conversion ratio (FCR) and specific growth rate (SGR %) were 1.21 and 4.83, respectively for 30%, and 1.24 and 3.59, respectively for 35% feeds and were significantly different compared to 1.33 and 3.23, respectively, for 40% feed in mixed-sex culture. The survival rate was 43% in 30%, 83% in 35% and 68% in 40% feeds for mixed sex. In the case of mono-sex culture (YY), results indicated significantly higher (P > 0.05) values with 40% feed for final body weight, net weight gain, percent weight gain and SGR compared to that of 35% feed. The FCR values in 40% feed (3.65) was significantly different from that of 35% feed (4.74). Survival rate of YY was 100% in 35%, while 81% in 40% feed. In conclusion mono sex (YY) GMT fry outperformed than mixed sex under both treatments of 35% and 40% crude protein in flow through system.

It has been deposited on the composite specimens for real-time, in situ monitoring of structural health. The strain response of the smart sensing layer has been recorded for composite laminates using different defect configurations (notch spacing). Numerical simulations of the stress–strain concentration have been carried out in order to determine the state of strain at the smart sensing layer, in the presence of different notch configurations. It has been observed that the sensing layer detects well the presence of large deformations and damage due to defects in the structure, with clearly defined peaks at the points of structural damage.

The Darcy-Brinkman model is used to develop the governing equations for the flow and heat transfer phenomenon. The annulus injects the time dependent oscillatory velocity normal to its surface. Both the regions of the flow have their own viscosities, and the heat transfer analysis is carried out by retaining viscous dissipation. The governing equations for flow and heat transfer are solved analytically using a perturbation series for solutions in both regions of the annulus. A brief parametric analysis is performed for the velocity and the temperature profiles through graphs.
