Usaha mentafsirkan al-Quran merupakan suatu keperluan untuk mendekatkan umat Islam memahami isi k... more Usaha mentafsirkan al-Quran merupakan suatu keperluan untuk mendekatkan umat Islam memahami isi kandungan al-Quran. Fokus kajian ini adalah untuk mengenal pasti penulisan karya-karya tafsir di Malaysia abad ke-21 (2001-2015). Kajian ini menggunakan reka bentuk kualitatif yang mana proses pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kaedah analisis dokumen. Manakala proses penganalisisan data pula dilakukan dengan menggunakan kaedah analisis deskriptif. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa tafsiran secara tahlili mendominasi penghasilan karya-karya tafsir di Malaysia pada masa kini. Dalam masa yang sama, tumpuan pentafsiran al-Quran kebanyakannya berdasarkan surah-surah yang terpilih. Hal ini berlaku kerana, kebanyakkan surah-surah tersebut merupakan surah-surah yang sering dipelajari, dihafal dan dibaca oleh umat Islam dalam sembahyang.

Abu Zayd's thought, partly on the Quran and its hermeneutics has stirred controversy in Egypt and the Muslim world. This research focuses on the controversy surrounding Nasr Hamid Abu Zayd which led to the declaration of his apostasy by the Supreme Court of Egypt in 1995, as well as his controversial thoughts on the Quran, its method of exegesis and certain fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) issues such as the hijab (veil) and polygamy. This paper serves as a literature review which employs the content analysis as a methodology to elaborate on Abu Zayd's controversial thoughts based on his books, as well as through the views of Muslim and Western scholars on those thoughts.

According to Abu Zayd reunderstanding of the Quran's interpretation is important because the traditional method of interpretation is rigid and literal. It does not meet the primary purpose of the revealation of the Quran, that is to give guidance to mankind. Traditional method is also not appropriate to interpret the Quran according to the social situation of Muslims today. To achieve this goal, the study examines the position of the Quran according to Abu Zayd, method of exegesis and application of the theory of interpretation according to him. This study is a library research by applying document analysis method. His view on the concept of interpreting the verses of the Quran is similar to the method which has been applied by Western scholars in Biblical interpretation system.

Istilah ini mula diperkenalkan oleh Charles Kurzman (1998) dalam karyanya yang berjudul "Liberal Islam: A Sourcebook" terbitan Oxford University Press. Begitulah seterusnya apabila diperkenalkan, kandungan dan method "Islam Liberal" belum dikenali secara jelas. Buku ini tidaklah membawa kerangka yang tetap mengenai istilah penggunaan "Islam Liberal" dan hanya memuatkan artikel-artikel yang cenderung kepada idea perubahan dalam dunia Islam. Buku ini juga memuatkan artikel yang menjadi kontroversi iaitu "al-Islam wa usul al-Hukm" karya c Ali c Abdul Raziq dan mengemukakan tokoh termasyhur zaman sekarang iaitu Dr Yusuf al-Qardawi. Nama tokoh-tokoh yang Kurzman (2008) kaitkan dengan "Islam Liberal" dimuatkan dalam laman websitenya: http://www.unc.edu/~kurzman/LiberalIslamLinks.htm. Namun, istilah "Islam Liberal" ini dapat dimanfaatkan oleh Leonard Binder (1998) dengan menerbitkan "Islamic Liberalism: A Critique of Development Ideologies" dan terus dimasyhurkan. Karya ini mendapat kerjasama dari pemikir-pemikir yang dianggap modernis seperti Fazlur Rahman dan Nurcholish Madjid. Tujuannya penerbitan adalah mengemukakan penyelidikan terhadap ragam pemikiran Islam masa kini.

ABSTRACT A fuzzy logic FL-based food security risk level assessment system is designed and is pre... more ABSTRACT A fuzzy logic FL-based food security risk level assessment system is designed and is presented in this article. Three inputs—yield, production, and economic growth—are used to predict the level of risk associated with food supply. A number of previous studies have related food supply with risk assessment for particular types of food, but none of the work was specifically concerned with how the wider food chain might be affected. The system we describe here uses the Mamdani method. The resulting system can assess risk level against three grades: severe, acceptable, and good. The method is tested with UK United Kingdom cereal data for the period from 1988 to 2008. The approach is discussed on the basis that it could be used as a starting point in developing tools that may either assess current food security risk or predict periods or regions of impending pressure on food supply.
