Research paper thumbnail of Performance Evaluation of DTLS with Certificate Authority for Internet of Things

In IoT (Internet of Things) objects are capable of communicating with each other. Internet of Things got a lot of applications in various areas like in medicine, automobile, production, Information Technology and many more (1). In IoT devices are very small therefore have limited processing capability. With such constraints, we can not use heavy protocols for communication between these devices. The security of the communication between IoT devices is a matter of great concern which requires additional attention. The obvious security solutions like TLS (Transport Layer Security) can not be deployed with such a constrained environment. Therefore a different version of TLS i.e. DTLS (Datagram Transport Layer Security) which can also be used with unreliable protocols such as UDP may result in better performance. TLS is based on the reliability of underlying protocol that is TCP which can not be usually be applied with...

With the IPV6 the address space has been increased enormously, favors allocation of IP address to a wide range of objects. In near future the number of things that would be connected to internet will be around 40 million. In this scenario it is expected that it will play a very vital role in business, data and social processes in which devices will interact among themselves and with the surrounding by interchanging information [5]. If this information carries sensitive data then security is an aspect that can never be ignored. This paper discusses some existing security mechanism for IoT and an effective DTLS mechanism that makes the DTLS security more robust by employing public certificates for authentication. We can use a Certificate authority that can give the digital certificates to both the client and server and can increase the effectiveness of this communication. This work aims to introduce a CA for the communication and to provide some results that can show its improved performance in contrast to the pre-shared key communication.

Due to highly parallel computing nature of GPU architecture; it can be utilized for sorting purpose. We have considered the input array that is to be sorted in a 2D matrix form and applied a modified version of merge sort on that matrix. This modification leads to a much efficient sorting algorithm with reduced complexity. Therefore a lot of work has already been done to improve the efficiency of sorting algorithms. In this paper We have used the GPU architecture for solving the sorting problem.

A significant amount of work also has been done to reduce the seek time of the disk. With the increased speed of processor, faster RAM compatible disk scheduling algorithms had been proposed and some of them are really implemented. The main focus of most of the proposed algorithms is to reduce head movement. In this paper a new disk scheduling algorithm has been proposed ie. Simple Sequence Oriented Disk Scheduling Algorithm (SSOD) which significantly reduces the head movement when compared to some famous already existing disk scheduling algorithms.
