The increasing attention paid to traceability in Europe raised our interest in developing this study. The main objectives were to determine the profile of honey consumers of a particular Romanian premium brand, their perceptions regarding quality and traceability and their willingness to pay for traceability. The research was conducted using a quantitative method based on the use of online questionnaire. As the number of initial statistic population was not known, the sample size was empirical and non-probabilistic. There were filled up in total 85 questionnaires. The analysis of data was carried out using a database created in SPSS. The results of the study showed customers consider necessary traceability so as to ensure safety of the food products and their quality. They would identify a traced honey with the aid of the information on the label. Approximately 80% of respondents are ready to pay an extra bid for honey with ...

For accomplishing this desiderate data from Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR) and Eurostat were collected and analyzed for the period 2006-2009. As it can be observed in Table 1, by the end of 2008 the total numbers of ecological farms reached 4191 farms, and then decreased by 5.30% in 2009. This may be due to the fact that some of the farms went off business because of the actual economical environment or were wind up because they did not fulfill the standards regarding the organic farming production. Even if the total number of ecological farms has decreased, the surface cultivated in the organic system increased by 67.60% from 2006 to 2009 according to the MADR.

The production of grapevine grafts involves high labor and material costs. In this study, Muscat Ottonel grape variety grafted on Oppenheim Sellection 4 rootstock was paraffined with different types of wax: standard wax (SW), paraffin with 8-chinolinol (8C) and paraffin with oxiquinolein (OX) (before callusing), and silver color (S), blue color (B) and standard (SW) paraffin (after grafting callusing and before planting in field nursery). After uprooting from the field nursery, all variants were paraffined with red paraffin for storage. The unit cost price was calculated based on total expenses and the yield of grafts obtained in the vine field nursery. The lowest price per unit cost was recorded for the 8C/S variant, directly related to the first quality yield after uprooting from the nursery. The highest profit rate was for the 8C/S variant, while the lowest...

Research paper thumbnail of Agritourism - A Potential Linkage Between Local Communities And Parks To Maintain Sustainability

The study was conducted in two national parks from Romania and the surrounding areas. Agritourism plays an important role for the rural communities located around the national parks since it is one of the main sources of revenues not only for guesthouse owners, but also for the whole community. Tourism indicators are determined to emphasize the evolution of the agritourism industry in both regions, while the contingent valuation technique was used to elicit information on tourists' hypothetical behaviour as regard to their visit to the national park and surrounding areas. The questionnaire was implemented during the summer of 2011 in Calimani National Park and Ceahlau National Park. The results indicate that agritourism can be considered as a potential linkage to maintain sustainability goals through a partnership between park managers and the tourism industry, in the case of the two analyzed national parks.

The aim of this study is to determine the degree of ethnocentrism of the Romanian consumers given the relationship existing between this aspect and the consumer buying behaviour. A study was conducted among the people from Cluj-Napoca in 2013, on a sample of 277 people. The objective was to measure the ethnocentrism degree of the Romanian consumer using the "consumer ethnocentric tendencies scale" (CETSCALE) first developed by Shimp and Sharma in 1987 for the American consumers and than tested in many other countries from Europe, Asia and Africa. The CETSCALE comprises 17 affirmations using a seven point scale which were adapted for the Romanian people. In order to determine the consumer ethnocentrism degree, mean was calculated. The notion of consumer ethnocentrism is explained using principal components analysis and factor analysis. Results indicate that the mean of consumer ethnocentrism is 4.40 indicating a medium tendency. The value is comparable with the one obtained by Chryssochoidis et al (2006) meaning 3.85. Factor analysis indicated three important factors which explained 63.22% of the total variance. Finally two clusters were obtained using the three factors. It can be concluded that testing the CETSCALE for the Romanian consumers is a useful action because it helps marketers to determine the consumer general tendency in the decision making process for local products.

In this case the determinant factor will be the total touristic accommodation capacity in function (xi) and the depended factors will be the total number of tourist (y1) and the total number of overnight stays (y2). Using the date from the National Institute of Statistics the Kendall and Spearman coefficients have been computed for the tourism activity at the national level and for the Spas and Danube Delta.

This index is very important because it shows how many of the available bad-places were occupied during the period that the tourist establishment was opened. The closer the value of this index is to 100, the more attractive is the touristic establishment for the tourists. In this case this index is analyzed for the tourist destination of Romania during the period 1998 – 2007. As it can be observed from Table 1 this index does not pass over 36.08 per cent at the national level. From Tabel 1 it can be deducted that the more efficient destination from this point of view are the Spas. In that area the index is over 50 per cent in five of the 10 analyzed years.
