This global phenomenon had a profound impact on communities in both East and West. In response to this tragic event, the United States led an international military coalition to combat terrorism, launching military operations in Afghanistan and the Middle East. While these operations inflicted significant damage on terrorist groups, yet they failed to eradicate them entirely. Like many other nations, Morocco was deeply affected by terrorism internally and externally while reputed as a notable source of individuals affiliated with extremist groups. In light of these challenges, Morocco has sought to develop alternative strategies since 2003 to face religious radicalism by emphasizing a comprehensive religious approach.

This paper aims to explore the context, approaches, and mechanisms underpinning this strategy, and is divided into three sections. The first section examines the institutional and administrative approach. The second section focuses on the educational and training approach, while the third section analyzes the media approach and its role in countering religious radicalism.

of translatability and readability through which works of literature
become recognized as world literature. However, one alternative
avenue of theoretical investigation for the ways literatures achieve
global avowal is through the other chances offered by “misreading,” “mistranslation” and “untranslatability.” Untranslatability is
a relatively new means of inspection in literary studies and criticism,
which revisits the act of translation by re-considering the moments
of failure, resistance, and impossibility of translation. If translatability has been regarded as the only and secure road to synthesize
globally recognized literature, yet untranslatability might also
enhance the possibility of supplementing literary worldliness. The
article tests and investigates the chances of universalizing and
canonizing literature through the spectrum of misreading and mistranslation by applying such notions in the cases of Borges and
Kafka.

Research paper thumbnail of Writing the Multilingual in Maghrebi Literature: Debating World Literature

Journal of World Literature 5 (2020) 446-465 , 2020

Maghrebi literatures, however, offer a critical and highly crucial exercise to question and rethink the recent debates regarding the problematics of world literature. The main objective of this study is to intervene in the recent critical debates in the disciplines of comparative literature and world literature, with the postulates of a literary multilingualism that necessitates the task of rethinking the critical standards with which these disciplines approach literatures of the world. Writing the multilingual makes us think of the literary positionality of being a multilingual. This positionality is never understood without rethinking the very poetical and aesthetical dimensions of multilingual writing experience. Writing the multilingual highlights the imaginative space as a poetic factor that generates and evaluates those inner voices, images, rhythms, tensions, and memories as significant determinant of multilingual literatures. It rethinks in a sense what is common between languages of the same tongue. Furthermore, it transcends the linguistic barriers that avoid the realization of public sphere where all languages can meet and negotiate. In other words, writing the multilingual-literarily speaking-is making the realization of this shared space be possible, but also, it gives to the marginalized and subaltern spaces an opportunity to share its voiced world values. The region is also characterized by its central interest in the agendas of the internationalcommunity due to the process of establishing a peaceful acceptance of Israel, an aim that has still not been achieved.

With such case of emerging call for intelligence, one can only be more skeptical about the drastic change the digital sphere brought into the meaning and the geography of the texts, authors and readers as it manipulates the truth turning it into something phantomatic. And yet, digital humanities tools proved to be somehow efficient when used to read literatures of the world by using distant reading strategy when searching for networks and scopes of texts than the close ones. Either way, the question remains whether digitalization of texts and its annexes can help worldling literatures or minoring them in different directions, in the sense that literatures circulate well outside their home making it reachable and domesticable than before. In addition, pandemics and online communities have disrupted the ordinarily physical human contact towards which significant efforts have been made to keep it digitized as possible, the fact that shapes our understanding and perception of virtualized literatures and its incorporated spaces, themes, and effects.

The main concept behind this seminar is that rich data can provide a unique way of knowledge access about social and cultural change through the lens of literary production. It can provide us with much more insight than any other traditional method of storage. The main problem in digital archives is that, while it is relatively easy to collect large amounts of data, making use of the data is a completely different story. While we can easily store thousands of literary works, it is the analysis of these works that can be of benefit to knowledge synthesis and accumulation. This seminar is open for researchers with projects that explore digitized printed texts printed in the 19th century till present, including literary books, periodicals, and printed ephemera.
Topics may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- How can digital humanities shape our humane experiences of literature?
- Does it suggests/offers other avenues of interpretation?
- Can AI add more tenor to the way we read and taste literature?
- Technical challenges of DH with non-anglophone and non-Latin material
- Postcolonial DH and World Literature.
- Critique of DH in Literary Studies
- Evaluating digital scholarship in World Literature.
- Can we still maintain the same meaning and demarcations of geography of texts in how they affect their horizons.
- Does the digital sphere revisit the crossing, circulation and translation of literary texts?
- What are the new channels of worldlifying minor and marginalized literatures through the prism of digitalization and vertualualization of literatures?
