This is a research based thesis aiming to evaluate Porvoo Design Camp event from the perspective ... more This is a research based thesis aiming to evaluate Porvoo Design Camp event from the perspective of attendees and exhibitors. Porvoo Design Camp is an event organized by Haaga-Helia Porvoo Visual Marketing students on the 16th of November 2019. The thesis is commissioned by Haaga-Helia as the plan is to make this a yearly event. The goal is to identify the main features of a special event, define successful marketing components and provide suggestions for Porvoo Design Camp to develop. The study also consists measur-ing if Porvoo Design Camps main themes are visible. The theoretical framework focuses on the characteristics of special events and identifies the elements for marketing events. The theory goes further into the main characteristics: uniqueness, fixed timescale, labour intensiveness, ambiance and service, rituals and cere-monies, perishability, intangibility, and personal interaction, and how to use them. In 2014, the Canary Islands received 11 and a half million of foreign tourists and Andalucia 8 an... more In 2014, the Canary Islands received 11 and a half million of foreign tourists and Andalucia 8 and a half million, meaning respectively an interanual growth of 17,7% and 13,1%. [1] These data confirm a sustained growth in international tourist arrivals in the last recent years. Most of them, tourists searching the product "sun and beach", although the trend has progressed towards a multi-motivational demand and consequently to a more diversified offer. The enhancement of cultural offers at consolidated destinations seeks to maximize the positive impacts of tourism throught deseasonalizing the tourism flows and the revitalization of historic centers. In this context, we present two studies that analyzed near 1000 face surveys, the profile of cultural tourist in two spanish cities declared World Heritage by UNESCO: San Cristobal de la Laguna (Tenerife - Canary Islands) and Cordoba (Andalusia).
