Molecular photochemistry, photobiology, atomic physics, solid-state physics are but a few sciences requiring powerful VUV sources. We demonstrate that a compact, laser heated

Research paper thumbnail of Single phase active power filter for harmonic mitigation in distribution power lines

Voltage-fed inverter with a large storage capacitor is formed the filter circuit, IGBTs switches are used to construct the inverter circuit, the proposed filter is designed to prevent the affect of 3rd, 5th, and 7th order of harmonics. The essential advantage of this method is injecting certain harmonics with needless to the reference signal, which tremendously reduces the number of filter components and the complexity of the circuit. Fast Fourier Transformer (FFT) algorithm is employed to determine the magnitude and the phase of the harmonic needed to be eliminated. Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) technique is introduced to control the phase and magnitude of the inverter output. The simulation results using PSPICE software package are shown to validate the proposed technique.

Electrical power engineering education as career is continuously declining from last two decades ... more Electrical power engineering education as career is continuously declining from last two decades all over the world. Utilities managers, electric equipment manufacturers, power professionals and electric engineering educationists are predicting an impending crisis of acute shortage of electrical engineers. Underground trend towards solid state electronics, telecommunication and biomedical engineering is manifestation of imminent predicament of electrical power professionals for operating and developing tomorrow's electric power industries. This article discusses the compelling reasons behind the continued decline in power engineering education and suggest potential strategies to attract enrolment to this profession as career. Surely, career is bright but leaders have no lantern to guide power engineers to sun way lagoon

Research paper thumbnail of Simulation, Design and Construction of High Voltage DC Power Supply at 15 kV Output Using Voltage Multiplier Circuits

This study describes the details of high voltage DC power supply whose output voltage is 15 kV. I... more This study describes the details of high voltage DC power supply whose output voltage is 15 kV. In this study, we review the major aspects of the design of voltage multiplier circuits and constructed a prototype power supply based on simulation, design and implementation of the hardware works in the laboratory. Its simulation works done by using EMTDC PSCAD and PSPICE software. Experimental results are presented to verify the simulation results.
