Methodology: It was a descriptive cross-sectional study performed between January 2021 to June 2021 in Medicine department of Bilawal Medical College LUMHS Jamshoro Pakistan. Patients between the age of 18 to 65 years have been investigated. Data was collected using a designed questionnaire. X-rays and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of the lumbosacral spine were used to evaluate any discrepancies associated with low back pain. The levels of uric acid in the blood were measured and documented. Results: Out of 88 patients with chronic low back pain, 22 (25%) reported hyperuricemia. There was no significant difference in uric acid levels between men and women (P>0.05). We observed that 86.36 %t (n=19) patients with elevated serum uric acid levels also experienced joint pain. Further radiological examination revealed lumbar disc prolapse in 72.7 % (n=16). We found that ...

Methodolgy: This study was conducted by Dibba Hospital Fujairah, United Arab Emirates from March 2017- to March 2020. A total of 40 patients were selected for this research. In our study, we used arthroscopy assisted ACL reconstruction technique with single bundle quadrupled semitendinosus tendon autograft. This autograft was inserted from the ipsilateral limb with the help of endobutton femoral side of graft was fixed and with bioabsorbable screw tibial side of graft was stabilized. A single surgeon performed all the surgeries. Results: In our observations, we reported that the majority of the patients had exposure of ACL injury in their middle adult age (32-38 years old) due to high engagement in physical activities (67.8%) like biking, playing sports and many others. The ratio of right knee injury site was com...

Methodology: This prospective study was conducted at the Orthopedic Department, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical College, from March 2020 to March 2021. During this timeframe total of 20 patients who underwent dynamisation for reamed intramedullary nailing were recruited. After two successive visits, those patients whose fracture failed to show progressive signs of callus formation underwent dynamisation. We removed the single static screw from the longer fracture segment to perform the dynamisation procedure. We inserted a poller screw slightly medial to the nail from anterior to posterior to provide additional stability to the proximal fragment. Statistical analysis was performed by using SPSS 23.0. For evaluating the success of dynamisation Chi-square test was used. Results: The mean age of recruited patients was reported as 35.92 years ranging from 16 years to ...

Methods: This is a descriptive study conducted at the Orthopedic department Dibba Hospital Fujairah, United Arab Emirates for one-year duration from March 2019 to March 2020. All patients who met the inclusion criteria were treated with femoral retrograde nailing technique. The postoperative functional score was assessed according to Schatzker and Lambert criteria, which were rated excellent, good, and poor. Radiological union was assessed by X-rays. Results: There were 103 patients with a mean age of 35.20 ± 10.66 (range, 20 to 50 years). There were 78 men (75.72%) and 25 women (24.27%). Most of the fractures (68.9%, n = 71) were caused by car accidents. Fracture of the right side occurred in 70 (67.96%) patients, and the left side fracture in 33 (32.03%) patients. Excellent results were obtained in 75 (72.81%) patients and good results were obtained i...

The soft tissue dissection during surgery results in impairment in already damaged soft tissue. This impairment leads to postoperative complications. Aim: To determine the incidence and risk predictors of surgical site infections in distal femur fracture treated by open reduction and internal fixations. Methodology: We divided all recruited patients into two groups based on the occurrence of SSI. We classified patients with SSI in the case group and without SSI in the control group. Superficial SSI was defined as the infiltration on the skin or subcutaneous tissue of the operation site. The definition of the deep SSI was based on the satisfaction regarding deep fascia infection, persistent wound effusion, local abscess requiring focal debridement, and implant replacements. Wound exudates of all patients were sent for evaluating culture and sensitivity. A cohort study, This study was conducted at

Methodology: This retrospective study was conducted in Bone Care trauma center Heerabad Hospital Hyderabad Pakistan from March 2019 to March 2020. A total of 74 patients of age between 60 to 70 years were selected. All the selected patients were diagnosed with femoral neck fractures (Garden’s III and IV). Harris's hip score was used to evaluate the clinical status of patients with pain, whereas we used Palmer and Parker's mobility to access mobility. Implant breakage, screw cut, and nonunion were considered as parameters of osteosynthesis failure. At the same time, hemiarthroplasty failure was defined as two or more recurrent dislocation, aseptic loosening, periprosthetic fracture, and infection. Results: In the first three postoperat...

The advancement of modern surgical techniques has reduced the incidence rate of compartment syndrome and malunion. For the treatment of supracondylar humeral fractures, techniques such as closed reduction, traction, splint closed reduction, open reduction, k-wire fixation, and percutaneous pinning are used. There are different approaches that are applied for open reduction method which include double incision method (lateral and medial), medial, anterior, posterior and lateral approach. Till date among all these approaches, the posterior approach via muscles of triceps has produced very good results. Different studies have been conducted to compare the anterior and posterior approaches of surgical treatment. Aim: To compare the results of posterior and lateral surgical approaches while treating the type III supracondylar humeral fracture in children. Methodology: This study included 82 children, who had undergone the surgical treatment, 52 patients were treated by the posterior approach, and 30 patients were treated by the lateral approach. Both the groups had their follow up till 6 months postoperatively. Results: It was observed that the posterior approach had a very short surgery time as compared to the lateral approach. The results obtained according to the Flynn's criteria were 80.7% in the posterior group and 80% in the lateral group, and no statistical significance was observed between the two groups. Conclusion: The posterior approach had shorter operating time as compared to the lateral approach, however, no statistical significance was determined between the two groups in terms of functional results and complications.

In Pakistan a very limited literature was produced in recent years to evaluate the role of antibiotic impregnated cemented nail in infected non-union of tibia. To fill this gap this prospective study was designed to investigate the role of antibiotic Cement Coated Nailing in Infected Nonunion of Tibia in the Orthopedic Department of Liaqat University of medical and health science, Jamshoro, Pakistan, from February 2019 to February 2020. A total of 30 patients with infected "nonunion of the tibia" was enrolled during the research period. Patients within the age range of 22-61 years were part of this research. For surgery, polymer beads were added into the 40 gm cement which was prepared by adding 2 gm vancomycin and 2 gm teicoplanin. After that endotracheal tube was cut by a surgical knife to recover antibiotic and cement coated k nail. The nail was then inserted into the...
