The formation process of metallic Langmuir film on the water surface fabricated from BEDO-TTF (BO... more The formation process of metallic Langmuir film on the water surface fabricated from BEDO-TTF (BO) and stearic acid (SA) is described. The in-situ observation by Brewster angle microscope revealed a creation of small islands after spreading the mixing solution on the water surface and then a formation of homogeneous Langmuir film by a coalescence of the islands with decreasing of the surface area. An appearance of mixed valence state of BO in both islands and Langmuir film was confirmed by polarization-modulated IR reflection absorption spectroscopy. A theoretical simulation of the spectra supports the bilayer model on the water surface, in which a metallic BO layer underlies between the SA layer and the water surface. An investigation on the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films transferred onto substrates by infrared spectroscopy implies the existence of hydrogen-bonded carboxylate groups of (R-COO‚‚‚H‚‚‚OOC-R)in the SA layer. Finally, the optical conductivity in the LB films can be compared with those of the superconductor crystal (BO) 2 ReO 4 (H 2 O) through the Drude optical parameters obtained from the IR spectra fitting.

On obtient ainsi des matrices de carbones mktastables aux propriktks physiques diffkrentes, comparkes B celles des phases graphitiques habituelles. Dans ce but, nous avons construit un dispositif expirimental comportant un plasma radiofrkquence inductif ajoutk B un four CVD basse pression standard. I1 est possible de prkparer une matrice contenant un mklange de carbone et d'hydrogkne pour des paramktres bien d6finis et ajustables, le carbone ktant essentiellement en hybridation sp2. Les cinktiques de densification de diffkrents substrats poreux ont 6t6 observ6s ainsi que le gradient d'infiltrakion sur les kchantillons composites finaux. Ce dernier point montre la cornpktition entre la rkaction chimique et la diffusion thermique qui doit ltre reconsidkrde pour de nouvelles conditions expkrimentales plus contraignantes.

La cinétique de graphitation d'un coke de brai est suivie par la résonance paramagnétique électro... more La cinétique de graphitation d'un coke de brai est suivie par la résonance paramagnétique électronique et par la mesure du coefficient de Hall et de la magnétorésistance. L'ensemble des résultats montre que le carbone subit une graphitation en deux stades successifs. Au-dessous de 1 900° se développe une organisation bidimensionnelle du carbone, caractérisée par un coefficient de Hall positif et élevé et un faible paramagnétisme. Lorsque la température de traite ment devient supérieure à 1 900 °C, le carbone « bipériodique » s'organise dans trois dimensions et sa structure devient » trpériodique » et tend vers celle du graphite. On a également mis en évidence un comportement carac téristique du paramagnétisme, tout au début du processus de graphitation.

Cet article decrit l'emergence des recherches en chimie physique a l'Universite de Bordea... more Cet article decrit l'emergence des recherches en chimie physique a l'Universite de Bordeaux sous l'impulsion d'Adolphe Pacault juste apres la seconde guerre mondiale. Cela commence par la creation d'un laboratoire de chimie physique ou sont menes des travaux sur le magnetisme des differents solides carbones. Ensuite, au cours des annees 1960 qui ont vu l'extraordinaire explosion de la recherche academique en France, A. Pacault a fonde un laboratoire propre du CNRS appele par la suite « Centre de Recherche Paul Pascal » et couvrant plusieurs domaines de recherche. Les principaux sujets relatifs aux differents materiaux carbones et concernant les recherches appliquees menees a bien durant une vingtaine d'annees sont presentes. Enfin, l'influence de cette forte personnalite et son heritage intellectuel sont analyses a la lumiere des recentes evolutions dans la recherche et l'enseignement superieur en France.

2014 Plusieurs propriétés physiques des sels d'anions radicaux d'une série de composés ternaires,... more 2014 Plusieurs propriétés physiques des sels d'anions radicaux d'une série de composés ternaires, comprenant le TCNQ, l'iode et un sel d'ammonium quaternaire, ont été étudiées. Plusieurs transitions de phase ont été détectées à basse température. A partir d'une étude structurale récente sur un de ces sels, le rôle des contre-ions est discuté afin d'expliquer les différents comportements observés dans cette série de composés. Finalement une description unifiée de la série incluant à la fois les interactions entre chaines de TCNQ et les deux contre-ions présents est proposée. Abstract 2014 Various physical properties of several radical-anion salts of a series of ternary compounds made with TCNQ, iodine and quaternary ammonium are described. Several phase transitions are found at low temperature. Following a recent structural study of one of these salts, the role of the counterions is discussed to explain the different behaviours found in the series. Finally, a unified description of the series involving both the interactions between the TCNQ chains and with the two counterions (iodine and ammonium) is presented.

Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films containing various inorganic complexes were prepared using the so-ca... more Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films containing various inorganic complexes were prepared using the so-called semi-amphiphilic approach where ions are adsorbed along a charged monolayer. The metal complexes are organized generally in monolayers within the LB films. The magnetic properties of such LB films are related to that of the inorganic molecules and present an anisotropic behavior in some cases. Those results emphasize the interest to control perfectly the molecular organization in order to build up new magnetic hybrid materials.

We have investigated the partially and completely deuteriated 3,4,3′,4′-bis(ethylenedithio)-2,2′,... more We have investigated the partially and completely deuteriated 3,4,3′,4′-bis(ethylenedithio)-2,2′,5,5′, tetrathiafulvalene (BEDT-TTF) copper thiocyanate salts which exhibit a superconducting state at ca. 10 K. We have carried out both IR absorption spectra on polycrystalline samples and polarized reflectivity measurements on single crystals at 300 and 15 K. Resonant Raman scattering under visible excitation was also performed at room temperature for investigating the Raman excitation profiles associated with the charge-transfer bands. After a careful assignment of the vibrational spectra, we examined the electron–molecular vibration (EMV) coupling involving ag vibronic modes. These EMV interactions are tentatively compared with Yamaji's model, which postulates a BCS-type model for the occurrence of a superconducting state associated with these internal molecular vibrations.

We have investigated the partially and completely deuteriated 3,4,3′,4′-bis(ethylenedithio)-2,2′,... more We have investigated the partially and completely deuteriated 3,4,3′,4′-bis(ethylenedithio)-2,2′,5,5′, tetrathiafulvalene (BEDT-TTF) copper thiocyanate salts which exhibit a superconducting state at ca. 10 K. We have carried out both IR absorption spectra on polycrystalline samples and polarized reflectivity measurements on single crystals at 300 and 15 K. Resonant Raman scattering under visible excitation was also performed at room temperature for investigating the Raman excitation profiles associated with the charge-transfer bands. After a careful assignment of the vibrational spectra, we examined the electron–molecular vibration (EMV) coupling involving ag vibronic modes. These EMV interactions are tentatively compared with Yamaji's model, which postulates a BCS-type model for the occurrence of a superconducting state associated with these internal molecular vibrations.
