This new system is known as NFC Light System (NLS). (2) To set up an experimental design to examine the influence of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use on older adults' behavioral intention to use the NLS. Our proposed system was empirically tested with 33 older adults in Malaysia. Our findings show that perceived ease of use appears to be the primary factor for the older adults to use the NLS. Interestingly, perceived usefulness was not a significant predictor of older adults' behavioral intention to use the NLS. From the practical viewpoint, this study offers a new insight for gerontechnology manufacturer and developers to focus their design efforts on easy-to-use attribute that are desired by older adults.

A total of 139 older adults in Malaysia have been interviewed. The findings of this study shed light into these older adults’ experiences with new technology and factors affecting their technology adoption. The preliminary findings are reported and discussed.

A total of 558 respondents participated in the experimental study. The findings of this study suggest that trust propagates from one to another in a transitive network path structure (i.e. between a direct-friend relationship, to one of friend-of-friend, friend-of-friend-of-friend or virtual friend relationship) in the social commerce context. Trust is also positively transfers between strong-tie friends when it is examined in the context of message framing with positive and negative attributes.

This work thus aims to elucidate OSLP neuroprotective potential in alleviating H2O2 stress. OSLPs at varying concentrations were evaluated for cytotoxicity (24 and 48 h) and neuroprotective potential in H2O2-induced SH-SY5Y cells (24 h). The protective mechanism of H2O2-induced SH-SY5Y cells was also explored via mass-spectrometry-based label-free quantitative proteomics (LFQ) and bioinformatics. OSLPs (25, 50, 125, 250, 500, and 1000 µg/mL; 24 and 48 h) were found to be safe. Pre-treatments with OSLP doses (250, 500, and 1000 µg/mL, 24 h) significantly increased the survival of SH-SY5Y cells in a concentration-dependent manner and improved cell architecture—pyramidal-shaped cells, reduced clumping and shrinkage, with apparent neurite formations. OSLP pre-treatment (1000 µg/mL, 24 h) lowered the expressions of two major heat s...

Current understandings of knowledge management performance are either wholly conceptual or case anecdotes. There is a severe paucity in empirical evidence, and what evidence exists is largely of a descriptive nature. The lack of effective knowledge management measurement constructs is a key reason for the lack of empiricism in the field. This lack hinders both corporate practice as well as academic research into the role of knowledge management in yielding performance outcomes. Through extensive literature review this paper adopts a capability-based view to develop a construct, named knowledge management orientation. The construct consists of five components, namely the knowledge system, organisational memory, knowledge sharing, a learning culture and knowledge benchmarking. The construct is tested using confirmatory factor analysis performed...

Relevant results can only be provided if search engine strategies are able to discern a user's information need. Collaborative personalization is an information retrieval strategy designed to provide users with relevant results. In this paper, we introduce the personalization process and review collaborative personalization features used in three feedback settings. We focus on the evolution of the following core features in collaborative personalization systems: group size, membership type, personalization technique, trust and privacy within each feedback setting. Finally, we conclude the paper by providing ideas for future development of personalization system.

Due to the complexity of the proposed model, traditional algorithms have low capability in producing a feasible solution. In order to deal with this in this paper a hybrid method is proposed that enables definition of a solution within a reasonable amount of time. This method uses a neural network approach to generate initial feasible solutions and then a simulated annealing algorithm to improve the quality and performance of the initial solutions in order to produce the optimal/near optimal solution. We assume that machine flexibility in processing operations to decrease the complexity of the proposed model. A number of test problems are randomly generated to verify and validate the proposed hybrid method. The computational results obtained by this method are compared with lower-bound solutions reported by the Lingo 6 optimisation software. The compared results of these two methods show that the proposed hybrid method is more effective when the problem size increases.

Research paper thumbnail of Data and resource maximization in business-to-business marketing experiments: Methodological insights from data partitioning

This article introduces the concept of data partitioning as a fresh and useful form of data management in the process of knowledge engineering in B2B marketing experiments; articulates the method for partitioning data in B2B marketing experiments; and discusses the implications of data partitioning in the form of data and resource maximization for B2B marketing experiments. It is the hope of the authors that this article will encourage greater visibility and contribute to the advancement of resource-efficient B2B marketing experiments.

This study thus aims to elucidate the anticonvulsive potential of OSLP in pentylenetetrazol (PTZ)-induced seizure model. Physical changes (seizure score and seizure onset time, behavior, locomotor) and neurotransmitter analysis were elucidated to assess the pharmacological activity. The protective mechanism of OSLP on brain was also studied using mass spectrometry-based label-free proteomic quantification (LFQ) and bioinformatics. OSLP was found to be safe up to 800 µg/kg and pre-treatment with OSLP (800 µg/kg, i.p., 30 min) decreased the frequency of convulsive activities (lower seizure score and prolonged seizure onset time), improved locomotor behaviors (reduced erratic swimming movements and bottom-dwelling habit), and lowered the excitatory neurotransmitter (glutamate). Pre-treatment with OSLP increased protein Complexin 2 (Cplx 2) ex...

Three dimensions of manufacturing performance are considered in this study—quality performance, production flexibility and operations cost. This study uses 259 datasets collected from manufacturers in four Asian countries. Structural equation modeling and mediation analysis are performed to test the relationships. Results show that there is a significant positive and mediating relationship between the competitive priority of product innovation, employee management and development, quality performance, production flexibility and operation cost. However, such significant relationships do not exist with competitive priorities of customer focus and delivery. Organizations are constantly faced with the problem of deter...

However, existing touchless smart home systems often fail to attract a satisfying level of acceptance among home owners. The experience users have with the touchless system is key to making somatosensory technology a pervasive computing home application, yet little research has been conducted to assess the influence of direct and indirect experience on user's behavioral intention to use somatosensory technology. To address this research gap, this paper set up an experimental design to investigate the influence of direct and indirect experience in user technology acceptance. Using an in-house developed touchless system, two experimental studies (i.e., video observation versus product trial) were conducted with sixty-two participants to investigate whether the user experience has an impact on the adoption decision. Our findings indicate that direct experience has an impact on a user's acceptance of somatosensory technology.
