IRR 42 clones belonging to clone a slow starter who has good growth and great girth, but producti... more IRR 42 clones belonging to clone a slow starter who has good growth and great girth, but production of the rubber tends to be low when compared to other superior clones. This study aims to obtain stimulant treatment may be able to optimize the production potential clones IRR 42. The research was conducted at the Research Institute for Experimental Sungei White, Rubber Research Center for four months (May-August 2012) in the area of crop planting clones IRR 42 years in 2006 (6 years old plants). The treatments tested include concentration of stimulant (S) consisting of 1.25%, 2.50%, 3.50% and 4.50%, treatment application interval (W) consists of one and two times per month as well as application control treatment (without stimulants). The results showed an average production of 2.50% on stimulant treatment and 4.50% at intervals of twice per month (S2W2 and S4W2) have higher production compared with other treatments. In general, plant physiology is still below the threshold. S2W2 treatment is the best treatment to optimize the potential of the plant because it has high production but showed lower stress than the exploitation S4W2. Further research is needed in a longer period of time to determine plant responses to each treatment

PB 260 atau dikenal dengan klon quick starter memiliki masa gugur daun lebih cepat dibandingkan d... more PB 260 atau dikenal dengan klon quick starter memiliki masa gugur daun lebih cepat dibandingkan dengan jenis klon lainnya. Pada penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan hubungan antara perbedaan umur tanaman karet klon PB 260 dengan kadar kandungan sukrosa lateks yang dihasilkan. Penelitian ini dilakukan di PT. Perkebunan Nusantara III (Persero) Afdeling I, Bandar Betsy, Kabupaten Simalungun, pada ketinggian 900 m di atas permukaan laut. Tanaman yang diamati yaitu jenis klon PB 260 dengan waktu tahun tanam 2004, 2005, 2010 dan 2011 yang memiliki lingkar batang 60-75 cm dan dihitung dengan tinggi 130 cm di atas permukaan tanah. Metode penelitian ini ditentukan dari analisis uji korelasi dan regresi. Hasil penelitian diperoleh hubungan antara peran dari kandungan sukrosa terhadap produksi lateks klon PB 260 diperoleh waktu tahun tanam 2004 yang kecil hanya 3%, tahun tanam 2005 sebesar 14%, 2010 dan 2011 sangat kecil hanya 0,3%.

The problem that often occurs in Indonesia is the decline in productivity of agricultural land ca... more The problem that often occurs in Indonesia is the decline in productivity of agricultural land caused by planting monoculture crops. Therefore, efforts are needed to improve and maintain the organic matter and physical properties of the soil through the use of cover crops that are easily found in various fields, such as Arachis pintoi and Asystasia gangetica. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of tillage and cover crops in improving soil physical properties and upland rice yields. This research was conducted in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of North Sumatra, Johor Building, Medan at an altitude of ± 25 m above sea level, and flat topography. The research method used a factorial randomized block design with three replications with tillage and cover crops as treatment. The results showed that Minimum and maximum tillage with cover crop A. gangetica was able to improve soil physical properties, namely bulk density, soil particles and soil porosity. However, it has not been able to increase the yield of upland rice.

Anderson is an invasive weed that must be controlled in oil palm plantations. However, the results showed that previously in Semanjung Malaysia A. gangetica was used as a cover crop in oil palm plantations. The purpose of this study was to determine the best spacing and stem cuttings that produced the best growth of A. gangetica as a cover cover crop in mature oil palm plantations. The study used a factorial randomized block design with six replications at a plot size of 2 m x 2 m with plant spacing (10 cm x 10 cm, 20 cm x 20 cm, and 40 cm x 40 cm) and stem cuttings (top cuttings, middle cuttings, and bottom cuttings) as treatment. The results showed that the plant spacing of 10cm x 10cm is the optimum plant spacing for the growth of A. gangetica as cover crop as indicated by higher survived plant percentage and faster soil coverage than the spacing of 20cm x 20cm and 40cm x 40cm. Kabupaten Batu Bara adalah salah satu kabupaten yang berada di provinsi Sumatra Utara, Indonesia ... more Kabupaten Batu Bara adalah salah satu kabupaten yang berada di provinsi Sumatra Utara, Indonesia [1][2]. Rancangan Undang-Undang pembentukannya dosetujui oleh DPR pada 8 Desember 2006, dan diresmikan pada 15 Juni 2007 dengan ibukota di Kecamatan Lima Puluh. Kabupaten Batu Bara adalah salah satu dari 16 kabupaten dan kota baru yang dimekarkan dalam kurun waktu 2006. Berdasarkan data Badan Pusat Statistik kabupaten Batubara 2021, penduduk kabupaten ini pada tahun 2020 berjumlah 410.678 jiwa dengan kepadatan 454 jiwa/km 2 [3]. Empat Negeri merupakan salah satu desa yang ada di kecamatan Datuk Lima Puluh, Kabupaten Batu Bara [4]. Seiring dengan pemekaran suatu wilayah, maka akan terjadi peningkatan jumlah penduduk yang akan berpengaruh terhadap daya dukung dan daya tampung lingkungan, termasuk pada lingkungan rumah tangga. Hal ini disebabkan pada lingkungan rumah tangga akan menghasilkan sampah organik maupun sampah anorganik. Menurut Subdirektorat Statistik Lingkingan Hidup [5], sampah merupakan sisa kegiatan manusia sehari-hari atau proses alam yang berbentuk padat yang memiliki potensi untuk menimbulkan penyakit serta dapat menyebabkan pengaruh buruk terhadap kualitas hidup dan kondisi social ekonomi masyarakat apabila tidak dikelola dengan baik. Definisi sampah rumah tangga berdasarkan PP RI No. 81 Tahun 2012 adalah sampah yang berasal dari kegiatan rumah tangga sehari-hari yang tidak termasuk tinja dan sampah spesifik [6]. Pemerintah di dalam UU RI No. 18 Tahun 2008, telah mendorong berbagai aktivitas pengelolaan sampah rumah tangga melalui prinsip 3R (Reduce, Reuse, dan Recycle). Prinsip reduce adalah dengan mengurangi penggunaan barang-barang sekali pakai dengan menerapkan. Gaya hidup masyarakat modern yang telah berkomitmen menerapkan gaya Empat Negeri is one of the villages in the Datuk Lima Puluh Batu Bara. Along with the expansion of an area, there will be an increase in population and organic and inorganic waste. One form of organic waste management is the manufacture of Bokashi which can reduce the waste problem while creating economic value from the waste. The purpose of this Community Service is to increase the awareness of the people of the village of Empat Negeri, Datuk Lima Puluh, Batu Bara towards the use of household organic waste into Bokashi fertilizer which is beneficial for agriculture and a sustainable environment. The method of this activity is in the form of training for the community of Empat Negeri village, Datuk Lima Puluh, Batu Bara to utilize household organic waste into bokashi fertilizer. The results of the evaluation during this activity can be seen that the awareness of the community in the village of Empat Negeri, District of Datuk Lima Puluh, to sort and process household waste has increased. People are starting to realize that good household waste management is beneficial for the environment, and can provide added value economically.

Soybeans are one of the main sources of edible vegetable oil and high protein animal feed. It is ... more Soybeans are one of the main sources of edible vegetable oil and high protein animal feed. It is the most important dicot plant due to its high oil and protein content in its seeds and has been considered a salt sensitive plant that is tolerant of moderate salt. Oxidative stress is also a factor in the abiotic and biotic stress phenomena that occur when there is a serious imbalance between Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) production and antioxidant defenses. ROS has been considered primarily a hazardous molecule and the concentration should be kept as low as possible. The effect of salt stress on the morphological characteristics of the treated soybean seed was evaluated. To demonstrate the effectiveness of a nodule, mitrogenase activity is measured. At 50 concentrations of 100 mM NaCl no change was observed in nitrogenase activity. To investigate the effect of salt pressure on the K ', Na', Ca "and Mg" content of soybeans, the ion concentrations were at O, 50, 100 and 200 mM NaCl. Salinity affects the K 'seed content and the K' content decreases by increasing the salinity.

The aimed of the study is to determine the agronomic characteristics of mustard cultivated hydrop... more The aimed of the study is to determine the agronomic characteristics of mustard cultivated hydroponically using wick system on the application of liquid fertilizer and flannel size. The research was conducted at screen house of the Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of North Sumatera, Medan as long as January-February 2016. The research is field experiments, using two-factor completely randomized design with three replications. The first factor is concentration of liquid fertilizer, consisted of 0.0 mL/L, 2.5 mL/L, 5.0 mL/L, and 7.5m L/L of water, and the second factor is widths of flannel cloth, consisted of 1 cm, 2 cm, and 3 cm. The results showed that concentration of liquid fertilizer at 7.5 mL/L of water and 1 cm of flannel has the highest plant height, leaf number, leaf area, knop diameter, and fresh weight. Based on the scatter plot, fresh weight is more influenced by the knop diameter than plant height, leaf number, and leaf area.

Therefore, the initiative and commercial cultivation of spring maize with an agribusiness pattern has bright prospects This study aims to determine the effect of compost sludge and NPK fertilizer on the growth and yield of spring maize. The research method used a factorial randomized design with three replications and two treatment factors, namely the dose of compost sludge and NPK fertilizer. The results showed that the application of sludge compost at a dose of 15 t/ha and NPK fertilizer at a dose of 450 kg/ha was able to increase the growth and yield of spring maize. While the interaction between the treatment of sludge compost and NPK fertilizer was only able to affect the height of spring maize with the best treatment interaction of 15 t/ha of sludge compost with 450 kg/ha of NPK fertilizer.

Dragon fruit easily damaged if not stored properly and one alternative that can be done by processing it into various processed products such as dragon fruit syrup, dragon fruit jam and others. Dragon fruit is a kind of fruit that tastes sweet also slightly sour and the meat is quite chewy so it is suitable if made jam. Dragons fruit jams are often found in the form of jelly and sheet-shaped. This study aims to determine the effect of the ratio of sugar and CMC to the quality of sliced jam of dragon fruit. This research was conducted at the laboratory agricultural product technology Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara. The study used a complete randomized design factorial two replications with amount of sugar and the number of CMC (as treatments. The results showed that to produce good quality of sliced jam can be made with a ratio of 70% sugar and 2% CMC.

One form of organic waste management is the manufacture of Bokashi which can reduce the waste problem while creating economic value from the waste. The purpose of this Community Service is to increase the awareness of the people of the village of Empat Negeri, Datuk Lima Puluh, Batu Bara towards the use of household organic waste into Bokashi fertilizer which is beneficial for agriculture and a sustainable environment. The method of this activity is in the form of training for the community of Empat Negeri village, Datuk Lima Puluh, Batu Bara to utilize household organic waste into bokashi fertilizer. The results of the evaluation during this activity can be seen that the awareness of the community in the village of Empat Negeri, District of Datuk Lima Puluh, to sort and process household waste has increased. People are starting to realize that good household waste management is beneficial for the environment, and can provide added value economically.

It is the most important dicot plant due to its high oil and protein content in its seeds and has been considered a salt sensitive plant that is tolerant of moderate salt. Oxidative stress is also a factor in the abiotic and biotic stress phenomena that occur when there is a serious imbalance between Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) production and antioxidant defenses. ROS has been considered primarily a hazardous molecule and the concentration should be kept as low as possible. The effect of salt stress on the morphological characteristics of the treated soybean seed was evaluated. To demonstrate the effectiveness of a nodule, mitrogenase activity is measured. At 50 concentrations of 100 mM NaCl no change was observed in nitrogenase activity. To investigate the effect of salt pressure on the K ', Na', Ca "and Mg" content of soybeans, the ion concentrations were at O, 50, 100 and 200 mM NaCl. Salinity affects the K 'seed content and the K' content decreases by increasing the salinity.

The aimed of the study is to determine the agronomic characteristics of mustard cultivated hydrop... more The aimed of the study is to determine the agronomic characteristics of mustard cultivated hydroponically using wick system on the application of liquid fertilizer and flannel size. The research was conducted at screen house of the Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of North Sumatera, Medan as long as January-February 2016. The research is field experiments, using two-factor completely randomized design with three replications. The first factor is concentration of liquid fertilizer, consisted of 0.0 mL/L, 2.5 mL/L, 5.0 mL/L, and 7.5m L/L of water, and the second factor is widths of flannel cloth, consisted of 1 cm, 2 cm, and 3 cm. The results showed that concentration of liquid fertilizer at 7.5 mL/L of water and 1 cm of flannel has the highest plant height, leaf number, leaf area, knop diameter, and fresh weight. Based on the scatter plot, fresh weight is more influenced by the knop diameter than plant height, leaf number, and leaf area.

Therefore, the initiative and commercial cultivation of spring maize with an agribusiness pattern has bright prospects This study aims to determine the effect of compost sludge and NPK fertilizer on the growth and yield of spring maize. The research method used a factorial randomized design with three replications and two treatment factors, namely the dose of compost sludge and NPK fertilizer. The results showed that the application of sludge compost at a dose of 15 t/ha and NPK fertilizer at a dose of 450 kg/ha was able to increase the growth and yield of spring maize. While the interaction between the treatment of sludge compost and NPK fertilizer was only able to affect the height of spring maize with the best treatment interaction of 15 t/ha of sludge compost with 450 kg/ha of NPK fertilizer.

Dragon fruit easily damaged if not stored properly and one alternative that can be done by processing it into various processed products such as dragon fruit syrup, dragon fruit jam and others. Dragon fruit is a kind of fruit that tastes sweet also slightly sour and the meat is quite chewy so it is suitable if made jam. Dragons fruit jams are often found in the form of jelly and sheet-shaped. This study aims to determine the effect of the ratio of sugar and CMC to the quality of sliced jam of dragon fruit. This research was conducted at the laboratory agricultural product technology Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara. The study used a complete randomized design factorial two replications with amount of sugar and the number of CMC (as treatments. The results showed that to produce good quality of sliced jam can be made with a ratio of 70% sugar and 2% CMC.
