As ICT revolution is slowly conquering the rural sector, it becomes imperative that the agricultural extension agents transform themselves to the changing times and develop competencies in utilizing these ICTs. The study explored the usage of various extension tools and methods by the change agents and the constraints faced in utilizing them. The findings revealed that the extension functionaries frequently used the individual contact methods viz., telephone, office calls and farm and home visits in the process of transfer of technology. Least efforts were made in sending SMS based communication. Meetings were the common and frequently adopted group contact method. Demonstrations, farmer field school, farmer interest groups, field trips and farmer training programmes were moderately adopted. Posters, leaflets and pre-season campaigns were the widely adopted mass contact methods. They possess least skill in utilizing farm magazines and presenting television and radio programmes.

But if the current food export policy continues India could fail to meet its water requirement in less than 300 years and could run out of available water in less than 500 years. India is amongst the world’s largest unconscious exporters of Virtual Water which is the fresh water embedded in commodities. A country that exports water intensive crops or products, is in effect exporting the water needed to grow it. India needs to consider the export of virtual water through trade of water-intensive agricultural products. This is essential to safeguard the indispensable resource like water.

A scale measuring the degree of affect of the students towards the agricultural education system ... more A scale measuring the degree of affect of the students towards the agricultural education system was developed. Sixty five possible, scrutinized statements were examined to assess their degree of favorability using a five point continuum with respect to their capacity to measure the attitude of the respondents towards agricultural education system. The S- value and Q- value of each statement were found. Equal appearing interval method was used for developing the scale. The statements were selected and the validity and reliability of the scale was tested. The scale developed consists of both positive (6) and negative (4) statements. Thus, the final scale was developed which could measure the students' level of attitude towards agricultural education system. This study was implemented among 114 number of final year B. Sc. (Agriculture) students of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, to assess their level of attitude towards the present agricultural education system. The results showed that most of the students were found distributed between medium to high level of attitude.

Two kinds of applications have been considered: first, a typical data analysis on real data producing physics n-tuples, and second, a distributed Monte-Carlo production on a computational grid. Both applications will be crucial in a near future in order to make an optimal use of the distributed computing resources available throughout the collaboration.
