The present research evaluates the heavy metals pollution degree of coastal waters using the macroalgae Ericaria selaginoides as bioindicator along the Atlantic coast of Morocco. Eight stations were chosen: two located near Eljadida city, three nearby Safi city and three around the city of Essaouira. Results showed that the heavy metal content in the thalli of E. selaginoides, in seawater and sediment varied seasonally. At the same time, it was negatively correlated with algal biodiversity onsite. However, the Chemical Oxygen Demand was significantly higher at the polluted station S5 than at other stations, while Dissolved Oxygen and Biological Oxygen Demand were lower. E. selaginoides accumulated metals in the following order Fe > Zn > Mn > Cu > Ni > Pb > Cr > Cd. In conclusion, E. selaginoides is overall more resilient to heavy metal pollution than other marine organisms in the Atlantic coast of Morocco, as indicated by substantially elevated concentrations of heavy metals in some sites. Our results support that E. selaginoides would be a suitable bioindicator for monitoring of heavy metals in polluted coastal areas.

After the approximation stage, TS fuzzy control laws are introduced for the master and slave robotic systems. These laws further help in developing the design conditions using the state convergence methodology. The control gains are then found as a solution of these design conditions for achieving the bilateral teleoperation. MATLAB simulations on one degree-of-freedom (DoF) nonlinear teleoperation system validate the proposed fuzzy bilateral control scheme.

The first loop is responsible for finding a collision free path amongst obstacles while second loop uses this information to steer the mobile robot towards the target in absence of nearby obstacles. The fuzzy controller is designed and visualized with the help of Fuzzy Logic Toolbox in MATLAB environment where its membership functions and rules are tuned to have satisfactory real time results on an inexpensive test bed of two AT89C52 microcontrollers. The real time results obtained in indoor environment containing obstacles validate the proposed controller for goal directed navigation.

The Cartesian plotter uses two dc motors with incremental encoders for motion along x and y-axis while third dc motor along z-axis controls the pen assembly for drawing the text and graphics data. The motion commands for the motors are generated with the help of a simple feed forward neural network controller trained with back propagation algorithm. The nine inputs, two output neural controller employs four neurons in the hidden layer with tangent sigmoid being activation function for hidden neurons while linear function is used for output neurons. The proposed neural controller can drive the pen assembly in one of the eight possible directions and thus produces similar results to the famous Bresenham's algorithm. Simulations and practical results validate the neural controller for use with Cartesian plotters.

The scheme computes the Fourier coefficients of the resultant positive and negative half cycle pairs of the output voltage waveform and adds them as one by the principle of superposition to determine the Fourier coefficients of the complete output voltage waveform. This scheme gives the straight computation of harmonic magnitude and angle without having to use Bessel functions, numerical techniques, and look-up tables. The scheme presented is a broad scheme that can be easily extended to the other types of the single-phase and three-phase ac-ac controllers including the on-off control and phase angle control. The presented method is theoretically proved using MATLAB and PSPICE software.

The design of the vehicle is divided into three units namely mechanical, electrical and software design. The mechanical unit is concerned with the design of vehicle structure so that the vehicle can equally be used both for indoor as well as outdoor environments. The electrical part is related to the deployment of sensors and design of hardware circuits for powering the sensors and actuators. The software unit is responsible for providing the user with different navigation modes. The validity of the designed vehicle is proven through experimentation in different environments.

The RFID and MMS sections are each controlled by a cost effective AT89C52 microcontroller. The microcontroller in RFID section is responsible for reading the user tag information, searching the read information in a memory chip for a match and triggering the microcontroller in MMS section accordingly while the microcontroller in MMS section is responsible for issuing AT commands to Quectel M33 cellular engine for capturing the user image and transferring the image to owner mobile phone using MMS, a multimedia service of GSM network. A decision is finally made by the owner either to grant or deny access to the user by sending a text message to the access control system.

The concentrations of incompatible trace elements in ocean island basalts (OIB) from the central ... more The concentrations of incompatible trace elements in ocean island basalts (OIB) from the central Atlantic extend to relatively enriched and fractionated compositions in regions of older oceanic lithosphere. Certain trace element ratios normally considered to be uniform in the mantle, such as Ce/Pb, are particularly variable. However, other trace element ratios that are expected to be variable because of differences in bulk distribution coefficient, such as Cc/U, are relatively uniform. The Ce/Pb ratios in enriched OIB are correlated with unusually high U/PI, and low K/U. These U/Pb ratios would have generated excessively radiogenic Pb if they were long-term (lo9 yr) features of the source such as might result from core formation or recycling of h&rothermally altered ocean floor basalts. However, volcanic centers with high U/W do have high 206Pb/ 204Pb for their Pb/ 204Pb, a feature that is most easily modelled by enrichment in U relative to Pb about 10' yr prior to melting, a time similar to the age of the lithosphere. We propose that the source regions of these magmas are enriched by the introduction of small degree partial melts soon after the formation of the oceanic lithosphere. Metasomatism of the uppermost mantle by small degree partial melts produced in equilibrium with a combination of residual upper mantle major silicate phases, together with minor amphibole (5 2%), sulfide (< 0.2%) and phlogopite (< 0.2%) at about the time of formation of the lithosphere, would generate a 'near-surface fractionated'

The proposed controller takes the liquid quantity as its input and generates appropriate flow rate on the output. The controller is tested on a cylindrical shaped tank with inlet and outlet valves. The liquid in the tank is sensed with the help of an ultrasonic sensor mounted above the tank. On entering the required liquid quantity with the help of keypad, fuzzy logic controller adjusts the valve opening and closing in order to supply the desired liquid amount. The performance of the controller is also compared with the proportional control and it is found that fuzzy logic controller is better choice owing to its smoothness and accuracy. The experimental setup can be used to teach various fuzzy inference systems in real time.

First, the non-linear tele-robotic system is approximated by a class of Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy models. A fuzzy control law is then adopted to stabilize the tele-robotic system. Further, the selected control law allows deriving the design conditions for determining the bilateral control gains of the state convergence architecture which has been used in this study as a framework for establishing communication between the master and slave sides. MATLAB simulations on one-degree-of-freedom (DoF) non-linear tele-robotic system are included to prove the validity of the proposed fuzzy bilateral controller.
